      How much is your singer heavy duty sewing machine

    I have an ancient (late 1960's) Dressmaker machine that can do most of the things these machines can. It came with a box of cams and a kit of accessories and feet. I take it for a tune-up every couple of years, and have replaced a few parts, but it's still the best $150 dollars I ever spent. My only regret is that my ex-husband lost the manual, which had a trouble-shooting section that covered darn near everything you'd want to know. I've only seen one other like it, and that was at an estate sale that I couldn't go to. The only thing I haven't tried with it is embroidery, and it supposedly does that. If you want a bargain, check the estate sales!

    The only machine on this list I would even consider owning (and do own) is the Brother PQ-1500. I work for a sewing shop and we sell the Janome HD-3000 and they are "okay for beginners" but if you want a machine that will last I recommend the Brother PQ. It is a straight - stitch only machine but I have other machines that will do decorative stitches and button holes. For quilt piecing and garment construction I use the straight stitch most of the time.

      Which sewing machine in the brother PQ-1500 and Juki TL-2010Q, with zigzag option that you can recommend?😮🙏🙏

      Ever thought of a buttonhole attachment on your PQ1500? I purchased a brand new/old stock Griest for my PQ and the buttonholes are perfect, go around a second time to make them even sturdier. For testing I used several fabrics from chiffon through to heavyweight denim, then repeated the test on a TOL Janome ... same fabric, same thread, same needle and you can't tell which machine stitched which sample. The buttonholer will also stitch eyelets and bar tacks.

      @@rhoodj Neither of them stitch zigzag unless you use a vintage zigzag attachment, but it has to be compatible with the machine. I have a zigzag attachment, but unable to find a shank adapter at a reasonable price, as yet. My recommendation is the Brother PQ it's a fabulous machine and never hesitates at anything, I have 79 feet and attachments, from compensating feet to left or right zipper feet (both short and long) to a vintage 2mm rolled hem Singer foot, it doesn't matter which one you use the PQ never misses a beat.

    Have a 3000BE on layaway and going to do some canvas work on it. My dealer said that i will have to experiment with threads for durability. I mentioned i would likely use a 120/20 needle and would braided fishing line work. 0.32mm 🧐 “that should work” hopefully it will 👍

    What is the best home sewing machine close to the industrial performance level with Zigzag option? The industrial sewing machines takes too much space and moreover, a serger is also necessary. I try to a have an average sewing machine with zigzag, between home and industrial for home use. Please help.. I prefer all metal, no plastic...

    Apart from the brother pq none of those machines are heavy duty. They aren’t any different to a bog standard plastic domestic machine. If you want heavy duty sew and thick fabric you need an industrial

      Please!
      First you must know how strong she actually is/isn't to know that.
      My ex was petite and only 2 guys in high-school ever put her down arm wrestling, she lifted heavy stuff like it weighed nothing.
      Why?
      She was a professional pianist and played/practiced hours & hours daily from age 4 till 22 when she stopped doing world wide concerts & married. Her last was in Vienna.
      Strong was an understatement so I stopped thinking women were weak & quit guessing a folks strength after watching her just humiliate big guys at parties...lol
      Fwiw- I won against her every time, only because I rode motorcycles from age 8 so I was very strong too.
      This machine has a lot more metal than any new HD Singer or Brother thats for sure. You'll need to spend about twice its price just to match its build on a new machine.

    All these machines have two useless things in common and that is the presser foot never raises high enough for several hick layers and they all lack power.

      @grandmajane2593 3 месяца назад

      That's my problem! I just bought a Singer HD 4452 and I can't lift the presser foot high enough to get my quilt binding under it. It's only 3 layers of plain cotton and one layer of thin flannel. I'm so disappointed!
