Just realised that Sarah Lund's drums on Murder Movies sound exactly like a train clacking along the tracks. An amazing song and one of the best drummers to have been recorded (painterly but incredibly direct and always serving the song).
SlowRiots - The red guitar Justin played is an Epiphone ET-270 from the early 1970's. They were the first of the Japanese-made Epiphones and their shape/design is very unique when compared to all other Epiphones, even the others in the Japanese ET series. I used to play an ET-290N, which looks similar to the older Cornets and Wilterns from the 1960's, but I destroyed it over a couple of years. I recently found an ET-270 here in Dallas at a vintage guitar shop and they're very affordable. I see them on eBay often and for under $400-500. They're pretty awesome guitars for the price range, but I liked my old ET-290N more because the pickups that came with it were a lot better, plus it had gold hardware, so I was bling before it was a thing. Ha!
And Jared is the ONLY sub for Vern who makes it ok! Can't wait to experience it! I am front and center in this vid - those last 4 shows were amazing!!!
The flashing lights during Were, Are or Was or Is, combined with the red curtains, thats got to be a homage to Twin Peaks right? I mean they're from Washington so I'm saying yeah.
the entire styling for the sert is obviously a reference to twin peaks. sarah's dressed sorta like the midget from agent cooper's dream in season 1(?), the red courtain also being a staple of the dream sequences + the formal attire and lighting. if it isn't meant to be styled after twin peaks then it's one hell of a coincidence
That out of tune guitar seems to be a bit of a trademark. Thing is, you do see him tuning. Maybe he then slightly turns it out. Saw these guys in Prague at 007 Club Strahov about 1997. Excellent gig! Spoke to Justin I recall. Nice guy. Should have asked him about the guitar tuning thing. (or lack of it)
