Also in early designs of Street Fighter 1, Terry was supposed to be the main character. But they weren't sure if a non Japanese character would do well in Japan as a protagonist. That's how far Ken & Terry go back 😊

When it failed, they blamed it on him. Kind of like Devil May Cry 2, Itsuno had to take over that failing game and put his name as director. Don't know how much of it was Capcom or Ono.

I think it will once both games have settled in for long enough time. SNK also has plans on making a new Art of Fighting and a SamSho action RPG in the future whilst Capcom is just sticking with SF6 and the fighting collections for now.
I actually think that this will be the CvS3 we'll get. As much as fighting games are back on the limelight, making a huge crossover fighting game like that would mean spending a lot of money in IPs that could not turn a lot of profit. In the past, they were cool with doing that and reusing sprites, but the stakes are completely different now.
CvS or SvC might happen again, but it is in no way guaranteed. Crossover fighting games are kinda a thing of the past, outside of Smash. Having crossover DLC make mor sense in todays environment, as they are easier to produce on a inter company level, easier on a business contract level in terms of how to split up revenue, they are better promotional tools as each crossover character can be given their own promotional push (like they are doing here), and DLC characters just seem to sell more and boost game sales more than crossover games do (again, outside of Smash, but that’s a unique case. I love crossovers like CvS and MvC, and I’m not saying we’ll never get more, but it does feel like DLC crossover characters has kinda taken their place, and game companies seem to prefer them for all the reasons listed above
If they manage to make a Tatsunoko vs. Capcom 2 I'd love to see some characters from anime like Speed Racer, Shurato and Evangelion (yes, Evangelion was a Gainax anime, but Tatsuoko was also heavely involved in its production)

It really feels like they understand the impact of these moments and how much everyone wins when these companies can come together. Man, the street fighter devs have really done such an incredible job at bringing the series back into the limelight. It really feels like they understand the impact of these moments and how much everyone wins when these companies can come together. People are buying SF6 because of Terry, people will buy CotW because of SF characters. Capcom, SNK, and most importantly the players all profit.
