- Kentucky basketball and Mark Pope are making some major contacts in the transfer portal.
On today's episode of Locked On Kentucky, Lance Dawe discusses four of the best players the Kentucky Wildcats have reached out to in the college basketball transfer portal. Koby Brea of the Dayton Flyers just may be the best shooter in the country. Jeremy Roach of the Duke Blue Devils could be the best point guard option available for Pope and the Cats. Great Osobor from the Utah State Aggies is an explosive forward and Aidan Mahaney from the Saint Mary's Gaels is an experienced guard. Kentucky basketball would love to have all four of these guys - but what's the chance of UK landing them?

We all are man. We are getting back to classic kentucky basketball and I bet we will be alot better than we were with the tubby/gillespie era. Calipari did keep kentucky relevant. We just need these players new recruits to understand that a lot of those players to go on pro through cal n't just because of cal, they would've meant pro anywhere. Being on such a big stage at kentucky made a big difference.
A lot of players interested in Kentucky are waiting for the staff to be finalized, and that won't be for several days because they have to post the jobs a week before filling them. So get used to waiting a bit.
None of these kids care or even know any of the assistant coaches that might be coming. You literally just made that up. They care about the head coach and IF the assistant has recruited them for a while then maybe but this isnt that situation... The internet is just straight up people vomiting words to feel important.

Coach Pope beat Kansas on road, Baylor, San Diego St, Iowa State, Plus more!! Last year he did that with less!! Look at the highlights or those games!! I watched this till 2 am and couldn’t stop. He runs a great offense like a pinball machine. Just watch! It explains his 5 out offense. It is very organized and very difficult to guard. He will play a zone defense, I think he will go forward with the “right players” rather than the “it’s all about me approach”. Kentucky Blue is what he is!! A basketball genius and pupil of the hall of fame coach Pitino!! He is formidable

He has coached in a few schools.And he done great at every level of coaching.
Blueblood is a term intended to evoke thoughts of royalty, so rule handed down across generations. You have to have a sustained history of excellence going back to the beginning of basketball and sustaining excellence across most if not all decades.
Not only does this necessarily and permanently exclude teams like UConn, Villanova, and Indiana, it also knocks out teams like UCLA and Duke who are one coach wonders. The entire list of bluebloods is Kentucky, North Carolina, and Kansas. None can ever be added, some can possibly drop out.
Sorry but that's just what blueblood means, it doesn't mean "uh but what about me my team is good right now." Well you're a good team right now and not a blueblood, that's the only correct answer.

He was Horrible...He was Tubby Ball but white...he had players scared to make mistakes and players constantly were looking over their shoulder...and only one Championship LOL if you think he and Tubby were good I guess you hated Rupps style (he is credited for creating the Fastbreak...remember, he came from Kansas and coached under Dr. Naismith...the dude that invented basketball), Calipari's first 9 years, and even Patino's style. Joe B. Hall ran was Halfcourt offenses and they were slower than Pond water. I like Pope. BUT Calipari WILL (mark my word) CHANGE his offense...simply because he is a big Ol' STUBBORN Italian. He didn't want to deal with Barnhart...he now will change his offense to modernize it....AND he WILL win 1 or 2 Championships. I am rooting for POPE, but we gotta get used to not having ANY 5 stars and anybody over 6'8".....may take 3 years....and that SUCKS!

God roster be burks, adou, sheppard back. Then recruit Collin chandler, travis perry, mckneely. Transfers throw everything at johnell davis first, cade Tyson, Jeremy roach, Jaclyn Blackmon, cobe brea, jaxson Robinson, javon small, Mark Mitchell, and ballo or great osobor
Bill Self at Kansas only had one year more experience than Pope, with a slightly lower winning percentage. He's a perfect comp to Pope
Self had tourney success in the 5 years leading up to taking the Kansas job. 2 Elite 8s, a Sweet 16, and two 2nd round exits. 4X conference champ and 1X conference tourney champ. Seems like a stretch to compare, but the good news is we don’t need a coaching comp. Pope should do well on building on his own resume here. 👍🏽

you kinda left out that pitino went to a final four at providence with a little point guard named Billy Donovan. also that tubbys national title winning team was the third straight national title game that Kentucky had gone to and after that he never went to another final four in his tenure. pitino was inexperienced but had shown promise. you never know what the future holds hopefully pope can do it. I'm cautiously optimistic I'm not thrilled. I know pope said expectations are sky high here, but some people need to chill a little bit on both sides of the issue. pope wouldn't have been my guy to hire but I've been wrong before and I hope I am now. I'd like to see a roster before I make any real determination on my expectations for the year.✌

Yeah I sure wish we could get some good new because reed going pro was a big blow which I should've knew he was leaving knowing how high his draft stock was. We definitely need to land a big commitment.

Pope is and was the best choice. Nobody is begging these kids. There are contracts now involving money which takes longer lol. You never had to wait before because Cal rarely utilized the portal 😂 and not to mention when Kentucky drops this roster, they plan on making more than a splash. Better to say they plan on making a tidal

Exactly even coach Rupp coached wrestling before becoming a high school basketball coach in Illinois. Then he went on to Kentucky.
