Man i was in the crowd by myself during that Majin match but a small group people of behind noticed. Before we knew it we were all yelling tand screaming throughout the match, then proceeded to go crazy as neegan was announced lol. Always great to see how some of players fall into the genre, thanks for sharing!
This is about to be long. I love this genre to death. The number of memories I've made during my time with it is just pure magic. My FG jounrney started when I was only three years old. The intial spark was thanks to my cousin introducing me to the genre with Mortal Kombat 4 on the N64 and I've been a colossal fan ever since. Now, outside of all of the times I have spent playing FGs with my friends, there about four memories with FGs that really stick with me. First one was when I was around 12 in an arcade during a family vacation. I saw a Tekken 5 cabinate and immediately rushed over to it. I quartered up and started an arcade run with Jin. I make it to either stage 3 or 4 when someone who looks to be about in their early 20s walks up. He proceeds to quarter up and we start a match. I'm on Jin and he picks Law. For some reason the game was set to 4 rounds to win. I take the first two rounds...and the guy walks way. I was confused and a little proud of myself at that. My dad took over for the guy after that. I beat my dad and go back to ny arcade run. About 45 minutes go by and the same guy came back. We play a second game this time I was on Devil Jin and he picked Feng. I beat him again but he played the whole game this time. Good times. Second memory happened a few years later in Disney World at Disney Quest. There's a floor there that was basically just fighting games, beat em ups and light gun games. I saw a MVC2 cabinet and hopped on. A little after I did that, another guy comes up and we end up running a first to 10. I was using Megaman/Jin/Hayato and he was using Gambit/Blackheart/Guile. The set was close and ended 10-8 in my favour. We ended up drawing a small crowd. It was awesome. Memory three is more recent. I recently got one of my coworkers and some of his friends into Guilty Gear Strive. A lot of them were pretty new to the genre so I was in position where I was teaching the game to them. Seeing them level up was awesome and now I have a couple of rivals out of it. Now for the last and greatest memory which also very recent. After years of trying to finally make it out there, last year I finally got to attend my first Evo. Greatest weekend ever. I didn't stop smiling the whole weekend. Entered into Guilty Gear Strive and completed my goal of not going 0-2. All in all, I love fighting games so damn much and the current FG golden age we are in is just fantastic.
im ass at fighting games i dont have the motivation to learn. mainly coz i play story driven single player games mostly, i do like them tho. also at the end you said to mention fighting game creators, i usually watch Thorgis arcade and Rooflemonger great dudes when it comes to fighting game news
been on a very similar journey from playing smash bros, only playing that, to learning real fighting games from marvel v capcom, melty blood, guilty gear. fun journey though
The other say a daily mission for GBVR was doing brave assault or smth like that. Had to search wth that was. and also in game how to do the ultimates. I have piss poor memory for this genre lol.
Smash and particularly brawl was everything when i was young Its kinda strange how big of an impact it had I have started to play a lot of guilty gear in the past year but i dont think its comparable to smash at all it feels completely different
can't say I relate to playing fighting games on ios lmao, but I first found Guilty gear on the DS, then I played GG on dreamcast because a friend burned me a copy. the rest before this era, Melee and learning about Metroid through smash and starting my lifelong obsession with that series, Soul Calibur 2 (didn't really care for link, though my sister was obsessed with Zelda (through melee originally) I played Talim and to this day shes my favorite, Street Fighter I played since champion edition on the Sega Genesis, and well tbh, Fighting games have always been a huge part of my life. Though it was one i forgot about for a while, I'm on this video because I've recently got back into fighting games with Street fighter 6. Also, man.... Whenever I think about smash, I think about the FGC, or these adjacent fanbases and Etika comes up, it brings a tear to my eye. I miss Etika so damn much. Rest in power, king. ALSO ALSO, I've been a lifelong Smash fan and player and i used to play in tournaments too (1-2 if I was lucky, 2-2 if I was really lucky) and I just had to drop Smash Ultimate competitively because at a certain point I just realized, 50+ matchups were impossible for me to ever learn and I just wasn't enjoying it at least at my local scene. GODDAMN I KEEP EDITING THIS FUCKIN COMMENT, Hope u read this but yea, I'm not the best at pressing buttons but thankfully I'm an artist, and it was ACEN (an anime convention) that reignited my love for fighting games. Definitely plan to go to majors and maybe even sell art at the artist alleys! Also Watch Sajam because hes funny as fuck too
16:00 God, I want so much to have 1% of that type of experience on my region... Oh and the "Smash players only play Plataform Fighters" take is the most real thing in the world, I say this for myself, even though today I am able to play other FG sub-genres without finding it a torturous experience and understand the appeal, I don't find any of them that interesting as PF's.
GeckoSquirrel’s getting good at GGST (Guilty Gear Strive) story made me so invested and hyped for his wins. I imagine it’s what it feels like when a sports fan watches their favorite team play.
I played the PS2 MKs with my cousins way back and MK9/X when they dropped! I'm not really into the gameplay of the series but I've played them casually here and there
I love 6 years of joy because people told me "Its pad or stick." STicks are expensive and modern gamepads SUCK. THEY ARE SCAMS. ABSOLUTELY ATTROCIOUS. For the love of the FGC stop telling people to use controller. Play on keyboard instead.

2017 being 7 years ago makes me feel so old
Same.
I was born that year. I’m 17
“Play what you want when you want” that’s actually great advice 👍
15:59 that’s so goated but also hilarious
16:04 Best moment. Lowkey inspirational. 😢
Soon as you said you liked RPGs I subbed. Those are my two favourite genres. Fighters and RPGs. Especially of the J variety!
Getting secondhand nostalgia, bro
glad you enjoyed it!
I officially wanted to play fighting games professionally about 2 years ago. I even created a RUclips channel for it.
This is the type of fgc content I live for
another banger as always. the goat
I love this video. Your story on how you got into fighting games pretty much echoes mine. ❤
glad you enjoyed it!
Byalan dungeon's theme spotted lmao
Great video dude, the smash player to FGC player pipeline is a real thing :,)

Everyone in the FGC is constantly chasing the high of winning their first fighting game sets. 🕹️ Thanks for sharing!
@@BLACKDISC I will always gush about fighting games whenever the chance arises. And yeah, those first few wins are oh so satisfying.
Idk what to say other then damn we're literally the same in our game taste
you've got good taste then 🤝
@@BLACKDISC can't wait to see what other videos you make that make me go welp I did just that
Its crazy the 2 games you started with were my first 2 games 😮
im ass at fighting games i dont have the motivation to learn. mainly coz i play story driven single player games mostly, i do like them tho. also at the end you said to mention fighting game creators, i usually watch Thorgis arcade and Rooflemonger great dudes when it comes to fighting game news

been on a very similar journey from playing smash bros, only playing that, to learning real fighting games from marvel v capcom, melty blood, guilty gear. fun journey though
that's a good selection of fighting games 🤝
The other say a daily mission for GBVR was doing brave assault or smth like that.

Thanks for sharing! I'm glad to hear that art brought you back into the FGC! Can I see some of your work?
For the algorithm

Unfortunately i dont have any friends (who play fighting games)
No MK?
I played the PS2 MKs with my cousins way back and MK9/X when they dropped! I'm not really into the gameplay of the series but I've played them casually here and there
Also i would avoid twitter in general
And spend less time on social media in general
tekken 7 is better than 8. the tournaments were more hype

lowkey good advice. keyboard (and hitbox) are practically standards now
