TV these days is terrible. I just love all the old shows like 'Allo 'Allo & Dad's Army. I couldn't do without all my complete boxset's of all the old great comedies.
ppl just dont have the money, the time, or the inclination to make high quality shows, songs, art, fashion, you name it. when i see comments by young ppl bewailing the fact that there are no shows, et al, like the ones in the past, i often wonder whether they would put the time, money, and effort into making things of high quality again.
I just found 'Allo 'Allo this year and I'm 50: I love it so much I've stopped watching them lest I blow through all of them in just a few days. I can't believe I might have DIED and not seen this. Now I'm a fanatic.
I'm from India. Allo Allo used to be telecast here back in the 90s. We used to find it a little difficult to follow the accent back then. However, whatever little we could follow, we would be left in splits. Guy Siner was always a favourite and I loved how he would adore Rene
I have the complete DVD collection, every show and I play them constantly, especially when I need cheering up. Every character was/is a gem, sad that such a lot are no longer with us. I have been going to France for the last 50years, I love the country. I know that the show was not made there but the sets and outdoor shots are so authentic they conjure up the place. The best sitcom ever made closely followed by ‘Dad’s Army’, same era, yes👌👌
Same same here I find it endlessly charming and funny. Somehow, even after all these years, I keep bumping into something new whenever I watch an episode or season. How strange...and how wonderful for me !
I had to do a lot of research on the German military for my books, and it always amazed me how this supposedly silly little farce is so exactingly perfect in all details. ❤️💕
So very true. "You only have to look around to see how hard it is" TV today is absolutely rubbish in comparison. Its hard to believe you will never see such an amazing and funny tv programme again. I do miss those days.
I just received the entire Allo Allo box set for an early Christmas present & grew up watching the show here in Australia when it aired. I will always love it & never get sick of watching it & even introduced my American wife to it.
my all time favorite britcom. found the collection in Polish (region 2) & bought a portable multi region dvd player to watch it in the US. wished guy siner could have had more songs. funniest idea was how all the actors who were brits were supposed to be french or german and spoke w french/german accents except the policeman who was supposed to be british and spoke english badly bc he was supposed to be speaking french badly--though actually everyone was speaking english bc everyone was british. brilliant! just best show ever.
As he, and all the cast say, it was the subtle writing that made it. A word that was torn out of the BBC dictionary by the likes of Ben Elton, Lenny Henry and Alan B'stard.
Lieutenant Gruber was my first positive gay role model on TV. Still to this day he is the go-to character whenever I need to watch something pleasant, funny and calming.
I got all the cast Autographs and a few letters from the cast of Allo Allo. They were the best group. Rose Hill sent the nicest letter. I will miss all the cast members that have passed away.
So sad to know that so many of the main characters have now passed away, and yes, Guy is right, Kenneth Connor was an absolute icon, not just for his 'Carry On' roles.
Though I've never seen 'Allo 'Allo in my life, I do know Guy Siner from a few audio dramas he is in. He was in an audio drama called the Trials of Saint Patrick from a couple years ago, where he was playing a guy prosicuting Saint Patrick himself. I know I've heard him in several other audio dramas before, he always has a distinct commanding voice.
he sounds British I know he was born and partly raised in new York but was also raised and lived in the UK for many years. I saw him make an appearance as a book publisher in an American sitcom and he sounded American I wonder if the British accent is his natural voice or the Northeast united States accent his natural accent?
You will be flying a TIE Advanced designated Alpha 1. Your craft will be armed with 8 concussion missiles. You will be the flight leader and will have one wingman in your group.
It worked because they were all first class when it came to team work, including the writers. Were Never more true words spoken about the DVD scene. Sadly technology seems to have killed the profession. They rely on computers to fool people without realizing, people just ain't that dumb. It has led to people not having any real ability or ambition because its not hard anymore. Every one played their part so well, they wore it like a skin walker would. I really miss those shows. Love to all of you fab people that made us roll around on the floor so often.
Speaking in code scene made me laugh for hours Rene: Whoud you like a light Gruber:Yes of course Rene : I have no matches wink*wink* Gruber :why whoud you ask if I like a light sence you don't have matches?
I thought he was a rich man, what with splitting the proceeds from selling ze fallen Madonna Wiz ze big boobies by Van Klomp, and the cracked vase with the big daisies by Van Gogh after ze war
I adore Guy Siner as Lieutenant Gruber. Fabulous actor.
I met Guy sinner and Richard Gibson at the London film convention they were true gents and got their autographs
Is he one of them?
No, he is one of us!
Wonderful person and actor!
Allo Allo is a very clever show .... Guy Siner played his part beautifully, such a gentle portrayal of a German soldier .... brilliant.
Guy sounds a lovely person! I loved Lietenaut Gruber and he was one of my favourites on that show!
+Katie Fraser i agree he was amazing
+Katie Fraser He really is. I have a letter and signed autograph from Mr Siner after I sent him fanmail. He's an absolute gem!
really
+bored1980 really is he cute
+Sarah Jeffrey you really like him dont you
What an absolutely delightful man! Gruber was one of my favourite character on the show.
Guy Siner did truly great, world-class, immortal comedy
I still fancy Guy after all these years; he's not lost his looks. I was glad to hear him comment how bad TV is these days - I so agree with him.

he has still very bright lively eyes!
He still looks good too!

The ‘we ask the questions’ scene absolutely killed me lol 😂
What was the last episode called after the war when they all got together outside Rene's cafe and all met up as ze war was over?.
The end of the radio scene with Rene makes me laugh beyond recall............
another one of his friends is no longer with us, RIP Rene :(
he still not dead
😭😩
I wonder if he kept in touch with Clarence the driver of his little tank after the war.
What a lovely interview .. the show I love and watch it very often when I was to chill and relax ....alllo allo remains simply magical
If I ever got to meet Mr. Siner in person I'd be over the moon.
The entire cast.. amazing. Still today
And 9 years later Allo Allo still beats 99.99% of sitcoms that has came out since it's appearance.
Gee what an awesome guy

*Happy 70th Birthday Guy*
I love him!!
Well guy you still make me laugh hysterically your character was absolutely amazing god bless you
It was a great cast, well written and it was set in the War times. And that will never date, as it was of the times.
Allo Allo was amazing
So very true. "You only have to look around to see how hard it is" TV today is absolutely rubbish in comparison. Its hard to believe you will never see such an amazing and funny tv programme again. I do miss those days.
He was really, really funny in the show!
Allo allo, such great memories. And Gruber was so funny :-)
He is brilliant actor... 😄👍
I just received the entire Allo Allo box set for an early Christmas present & grew up watching the show here in Australia when it aired. I will always love it & never get sick of watching it & even introduced my American wife to it.
All those years later and he can go right in to character at the drop of a hat.
OMG! I've found it on Christmas Day! This interview is the best Christmas gift I could imagine! woowwww... I LOVE ALLO ALLO!
@Stimpy&Ren Now that's what I call a gift!!! 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍

So strange to hear him speak English WITHOUT ze German accent! :D
MadonnaImperia Ve ask ze questions
@@mnbgfdsa *Slaps prisoner in the face*
he still sounds like him very much
Ikr?! 😂He's very convincing with ze German accent. 😃😄
What's really funny is he has a British accent, but he was born in New York City! Educated over in England.
What a great interview and lovely man... Guy is also related (cousin) to the late Simon Cadell of hi de hi....
You are my favorite star! Just great & wonderful! ❤️❤️❤️
As he, and all the cast say, it was the subtle writing that made it.

"Ve ask the qfestions!" I must've heard it 100s of times but it always cracks me up!
Grüber? Sounds like Otto
I think the "I have no matches" scene with Gruber, Rene and LeClerc is possibly the funniest ever scene in television.
Allo allo, one of the best tv series comedy, above the time, eternal!
So sad to know that so many of the main characters have now passed away, and yes, Guy is right, Kenneth Connor was an absolute icon, not just for his 'Carry On' roles.
I saw him on stage in Brisbane, he was excellent, he had a scene in B5, loved his work
It's unusual to listen to him speaking in British accent. I can still hear him the way how he says "René!"
My fave in Allo Allo
Great series, Gruber was my favourite, he had the best German accent 🤣🤣
What a good, and supremely talented guy, is Guy.
A wonderful Comedy series that poked fun at everyone
Though I've never seen 'Allo 'Allo in my life, I do know Guy Siner from a few audio dramas he is in. Fantastic actor, and not only in comedies..he had a small part in “I, Claudius” in the ‘70’s..
Brilliant!!!! Great character 🙂🙂🙂🙂, I don't think you could something similar today though
he sounds British I know he was born and partly raised in new York but was also raised and lived in the UK for many years. I saw him make an appearance as a book publisher in an American sitcom and he sounded American I wonder if the British accent is his natural voice or the Northeast united States accent his natural accent?
He certainly has an American twang to his voice even when talking in an English accent.
My little tank
awesome actor! I would love to see A remake of allo allo!!!!
It wouldn't be the same.
No. Same with several American series. It wouldn't be the same. Different actors/actresses and producers. Lightning doesn't strike twice.
Lt Gruber was my favourite in that show. How I would love to come for a ride in your little tank! But don't ask me d questions
TIE Fighter Flight Officer!
You will be flying a TIE Advanced designated Alpha 1. Your craft will be armed with 8 concussion missiles. You will be the flight leader and will have one wingman in your group.
He is very funny man.. I enjoyed watching allo allo...
I want to go for a ride in the litle tank and meeting Clarence his driver😉
The magic of the show was the accents and the silly voices.
"Good Moaning".
@@gumdeo Would like a ride in mine little tank?
legend :)
Gave us lots of fun,
That show still be on top even for 1000 years. Just brilliant.
What a nice man!
Are you one of them Gruber?
The best comedy ever.
WE ASK ZE QUESTIONS!
Ve ask ze questions!!
It was very lonely on ze Russian front.
He stole the show in "that's my Bush"

Mittenhand!
Did you catch him in the first Pirates movie! 😳❤️
Only 'cause of being an 'Allo, 'Allo-nerd! And a bit of the TIE-Fighter 1995 CD-ROM
@dallesamllhals9161 Wouldn't we all love more stories of him and his little (admittedly enslaved) little sidekick? I mean in Pirates.
Vundervul!
0:58 So true, Guy 🤝🇳🇱
What about the mounds of earth?
pozdrawiam
Speaking in code scene made me laugh for hours Rene: Whoud you like a light
Gruber:Yes of course
Rene : I have no matches wink*wink*
Gruber :why whoud you ask if I like a light sence you don't have matches?
♡♡♡ Allo ♡♡♡ Allo! ♡♡♡
Yes, Gruber, I will, but I will go away with it, so I can be «hinted and arrusted» by officer Crabtree!
Guy Siner did comedy that was world class. I mean Marx Brothers or better
♥️
Yo nunca veo noticias y nuncs las veré. No me interesa nada. 🐶🐶👍🏻👍🏻Este show me encanta.
MMMMMAAAANNN RAAAYYYYYY
Has he got any spare matches in his pocket?
Gruber I would like to drive with Helga or Yvette ;)
Well, some of us also have the 'TIE Fighter - Collector's CD-ROM' And are in need for a good spank/("%¤%..briefing...
I thought he was a rich man, what with splitting the proceeds from selling ze fallen Madonna Wiz ze big boobies by Van Klomp, and the cracked vase with the big daisies by Van Gogh after ze war

i see manray
The way to get round a comedy 'aging' is to set it in the past, that way it has already 'aged' and no one cares.
:)
Didn't even know he is American
He is brittish
@@CLOSE1RocketLeague Actually McRambro was right. He was born in the US, grew up in the UK apparently.
Hans had a little less fun when riding your little tank.
Funniest non gay gay character in tv lol. Ve ask ze questions!
Unfortunately the politically correct crowd would not allow it.
When? Where? 9 seasons ain't bad in the 1980s!
