I've purchased around half a dozen watches after watching your reviews. They look 10 times better in your videos than they do when I open the box on arrival lol
Really?! I've compared my current air-king PD homage to my genuine Rolex Submariner date. Granted, different watches in lots of ways but in terms of general aesthetic, not much between them tbh. Strange take.
I’m hoping for a V2 on this one, I really like a lot about it. The vintage sizing, gilt dial furniture, attractive Crystal, fantastic case back, and shapely case are all highlights to me. Thanks for the review!
I've had my PD1723 V2 since October and it's been great. No issues with the crown or the movement. Right now it's running at +4 sec/day. I replaced the leather strap immediately though.
I have a PD1701 v3 and I am pretty happy with what they have created there. Lume may not stay supercharged for very long, but it stays readable throughout the night. I never thought that I will ever own a PD... coming from U-Boat, Rado and CW. Happy PD owner, bottom line
During the recent Ali sale, these were $141USD but the seller never shipped and eventually declared the transaction “closed”. Now that see the bad review, they did me a favor. Also a different seller on eBay had them at $109, but also declared the transaction a mistake.
You hit this one on the head, my friend. I got mine in last week, and was incredibly disappointed with everything about it except it's looks. It is a stunning piece, but as you noted, both the bracelet and the clasp are abhorrent. The bracelet had three severe brush marks on both female end links, and one of the screw pins could not even be removed (it just twirls loosely in place). The clasp is a piece of junk; to snap it shut took almost vice-like strength. Oh, and the movement? The crown action is dismally hard, especially finding the thread pick-up and screwing it in. And to make matters worse, this one is keeping time at +15 secs/day (at least it's fast). I own four other Pagani's.. all with NH35's, and I love both the QC and the movements/time keeping of them all. If Pagani is trying to move into the mid-tier market, they need to take the guy in charge of this watch's production out into the back alley and put him out of his misery (joke, of course). If Charles Barkley was describing this watch in one word, he'd simply call it 'turr-i-ble'. And he'd be right. Thanks for your honest review.
Of all the Ali Express watches that I have purchased based on your recommendation, the watch that I am most pleased with is the Addiesdive blue Explorer homage. I purchased it at USD125, its got clear AR coating, BGW lume, NH38 ,female endlinks , 90% San Martin finishing and most comfortable of all. The cheaper clasp does not detract from its value. As with most Chinese brands, the only negative I can see is the logo( Pagani got it right by using the shield). The feel good factor is such that my Speedmaster, Seamaster and green Willard are not getting any wrist time at all. The PD Milgauss(USD75) is on its way, lets see whether it can dethrone my current favourite watch.
Good review.. I received my 1723 yesterday, pleased with it. It came in black cardboard box with magnetic flip lid. Seems perfectly fine to me. The metal bracelet and clasp are OK too, maybe I haven't seen 'premium' offerings with which to compare it. [Although I have two nice vintage watches from '60's, a Longine Conquest auto and Omega Seamaster de Ville both have original bracelets and clasps and both clasps are pressed stainless steel. Bracelets are a bit loose too... they were built that way (I've had the Omega from new, and the Longine was my Dad's). I have a Tudor too.. the 40yrs service gold watch kind, pretty much unremarkable in design and complexity. The time-keeping of the Pangani for just over the 24 hrs of use is +2 seconds. I like the green second hand.. a proper homage to the Air King.
I didn't even know this reference of vintage air king so I found out it was the first ( 1945). honestly a vintage air king is the 5500 rolex oyster perpetual air king précision for me. hopefully they will homage this one in the future. even the 5700
Disappointed that a Pagani got this one so wrong when they are capable of getting it right. About time they designed their own watches. A field watch would be good Great review as always 👍
A bit harsh I think. I think it is a good value overall. It's not worse than a Seiko dress quartz which cost around 250+ euros here in Sweden. For what it is i think it's a good value. A good movement, you get sapphire, 200m water resistance, beautiful dial and the bracelet is neither the best or worst. Better than a folded from Seiko. Thought this is my opinion. Great review.
"i might have exaggerated the price😅. More around 200+ euros." This happens a lot. I get comments from collectors saying "X Seiko is better for only X price". Then I ask them to provide a link to this piece for sale at this price, and they can't as the price is higher in reality. Often the Seiko watch will have; a pressed clasp versus solid milled clasp, Hardlex versus sapphire crystal, quartz movement versus NH35A automatic, no AR coating versus AR coating, bracelet versus strap, etc. It is a time sink for me to reply to these kind of comments repeatedly; clarifying the aforementioned, the real price is higher, and specification is lower; than the homage piece reviewed. My PD1723 arrived today. It's a black faced version with leather strap. Just like your video I found the screw down crown to be resistant and the closing not grasping as well at. If not for this video pointing this out I would have suspected that I had a bad watch as my other Paganis using Seiko movements have very good crown functions. Mine being a September 2022 shipment does not have the "PT500" mark, it instead, as you have suggested, it now says Automatic. It also has a sapphire case back. Mine measured at 36.6mm. (Pagani's AliExpress page does states +/- 1mm for watch dimensions. ). The delivery guy called me but my address was not in his district so he sent it back to Pagani who in messaging admitted that they had used Google Translate to convert my address from English to Chinese as the courier out of China requires Chinese address on exports. This means that my watch was in transit for almost two weeks in temperatures possibly between 30C-45C. This may be the cause of the melting of the QC sticker on the back that took a good 20 minutes to get the gum residue off the watch. Same on the screw down crown where there are specs of blue from the plastic wrap which I can't removes from the crown's crevices within the Pagani logo.. Yes, the lumens are disappointing ... hands are completely invisible on mine. But I still like the watch ... wish the green seconds hand colour was a wee bit brighter. Still like it though.
Thank you for watching John. Congratulations. Wear yours in good health. You can remove the blue film from the crown using Sellotape. Acetone (nail polish remover) is good for removing the adhesive residue from the case back. Yes, they changed from "PT5000" to "Automatic" on the V2. Also to the exhibition case back. It's glazed with mineral crystal rather than sapphire. Regards, #WR4K
@@watchreviews4k I tried everything apart from sellotape and nail polish remover ... wearing two pairs of glasses to improve my vision and picking away ... was convinced wee bits were melted and bonded to the inner embossments and ridges of the crown and would never come off. The sellotape worked like a charm much to my surprise and relief. Good tip. Thank you.
just got the gold face version, I'm 50/50 happy and disappointed because mine has the updated bracelet and the micro adjustment is super hard to adjust, i still have to figure it out because the spring shifted but it didnt pull the whole thing so it's stuck, also 2 of the link screws are stripped so I can not screw them out, basically with these two issues it either too loose or too tight. might ask for a replacement bracelet. The watch it self says automatic instead of PT5000 and it has a clear back so its the updated version. I like that they are listening to the costumers input
I saw that as well, quite strange. The links on mine are perfectly symmetrical (yes, I measured them!), so no worries there, however, there were bad brush scratches on the female end links, and the clasp is, well, horrible.
Look at the new Pagani Design PD-1692 Air King homage. It's listed at 40mm, but wears smaller, and is a top-quality watch. Also, it has a great bracelet, except for a terrible micro adjust.
To be honest in this price range I would rather have a simple box like used previously or in Steeldives, and them spending the money on a better finishing/lume/QC. Would like a V2 with a silver sunburst dial with guilt indexes and hands...🤞
I have looked this watch design up on Chrono 24 and Ebay, I keep finding it labeled an Explorer pre 1961. It looks exactly like that particular Rolex model except it's a 36mm vs. a 34mm. What makes it an Air King? I'm not trying to be rude I just honestly don't know.
I still dont understand why don't pagani design use super luminova? If Steeldive can do it, they can too. Perhaps people arent complaining about it to them enough.
Yes, that is a good price. However also consider the PD-1692 Air-King homage as that has a better quality bracelet. See my review below. Regards, #WR4K ruclips.net/video/6fHOJtFudto/видео.html

My man laid down the hammer on this one shows how much harder PD need to work to earn its pricepoint with the PT5000. It's disappointing to find a bracelet worse than your previous PD reviews. on the pt5000, is it even HK precision pt5000? How much harder it is to wind than SM grade pt5000?

Nice video. Pagani must be collectively gnashing their teeth, having been caught out so blatantly. Just how could this bracelet fail occur? Pagani has been improving its quality control and hiking prices accordingly, but this sounds like a quality control brain fade. Could you produce a video on good value watch bands/bracelets that are available on Ali Express - just so nobody gets their knickers in a knot?
Thank you for watching Neil. Strap, and bracelet reviews are a time sink to make. It also costs me, as I then have to sell or giveaway them after. Hence why I haven't reviewed them from AliExpress. It just isn't worth my time as the previous strap, and bracelet reviews I have done did low views. Regards, #WR4K
I don't think it is a vintage airking homage. I do believe it is homaging a 1950's Rolex Oyster, such as the Rolex 6244 or 6480. Everyone says its an airking homage when it clearly isnt.
i've had the white version of this model for around two weeks. beware of overwinding. it stops now with a lot of tension in the winding mechanism, and is difficult to get out of timesetting mode without moving the hands. i think it suffers from a soft gear that has been damaged. this has been talked about in some eta videos, of which this is a copy. unfortunately, i have another of these models on order and expect the same problem. when i first got it, winding was light and smooth--no longer...
Sorry to hear that Gregory. It shouldn't be possible to overwind the PT5000 as it has a clutch mechanism which releases excess tension on the mainspring. Regards, #WR4K
I just don't understand what is wrong with Pagani and their fetish for bad lume... I'm not buying Pagani watches cause I love good lume. They would rather charge for a crap quality box that breaks immidiately than charge those few bucks on a better lume..I just don't get it
does Pagani (or any other brand in the world) make a vintage 34mm DateJust Ref. 1500 homage with 200m water resistance? then all watches from the famous brand were 34mm ... thank you

"Looks closer to the vintage Explorer, same size and similar dial." @@watchreviews4k no need to take it personally, simply making some observations. It may well be a homage to the air king, but the 5500 is a 34mm watch, whereas the explorer is 36mm. I'm sure you know your watches, but that looks like an explorer to me. All the best. ✌️
@@harpo5420 "no need to take it personally," I have every need to take it personally when someone makes a comment suggesting I have a basic knowledge level of watches. It's the shit shovel in the corner. It's good for the job but you see the flaws. Is it worthwhile to be on your wrist 🤔
The $120 price point of this timepiece doesn't require a whopping $40+ price increase. You can purchase a PT5000 for a lot less money. Have a look at the Tandorio Military style watches on Ali Express, with the PT5000 movement, for a lot less money. Plus the NH38A movement could be used as an option, also the Jubilee bracelet option. Happy Chrimbo. JANBOY. RN. Rtd.

I CANNOT BELIEVE They wrote PT5000 on it.... WHO in china is deciding this nonsense???
Thank you for watching Danny. Regards, #WR4K
I don't think it is a vintage airking homage.
I do believe it is homaging a 1950's Rolex Oyster, such as the Rolex 6244 or 6480.
Everyone says its an airking homage when it clearly isnt.
Thank you for watching. Regards, #WR4K
i've had the white version of this model for around two weeks. beware of overwinding. it stops now with a lot of tension in the winding mechanism, and is difficult to get out of timesetting mode without moving the hands. i think it suffers from a soft gear that has been damaged. this has been talked about in some eta videos, of which this is a copy. unfortunately, i have another of these models on order and expect the same problem. when i first got it, winding was light and smooth--no longer...
1500 homage with 200m water resistance? then all watches from the famous brand were 34mm ... thank you
No. Regards, #WR4K
oh that clasp is terrible! but back then in those vintage days all the clasps were just as terrible...
Sound hommage then
Homaging older models makes a lot of sense. Btw can't hear anything jn the video!

Looks closer to the vintage Explorer, same size and similar dial. Please note that vintage rolexes have pressed clasps too. Otherwise thanks for the detailed review, seems like a bargain - better value than a moonswatch certainly
"Looks closer to the vintage Explorer, same size and similar dial."
No, it looks like the Rolex Air-King 5500 from 1964 which it is a homage to, See link below for a picture.

"Please note that vintage rolexes have pressed clasps too."
Yes, I am aware of this. See my Rolex Kermit review below with a pressed clasp as an example.

I bought my first Submariner 14060M 24 years ago. It also had a pressed clasp.
See my Mondani Rolex books review below. I have studied these books.

It's a shame when I have to clarify my knowledge level to collectors like yourself that mistakenly presume I have a basic knowledge level of vintage Rolex pieces.

@@watchreviews4k no need to take it personally, simply making some observations. It may well be a homage to the air king, but the 5500 is a 34mm watch, whereas the explorer is 36mm. I'm sure you know your watches, but that looks like an explorer to me. All the best. ✌️
@@harpo5420 "no need to take it personally,"
I have every need to take it personally when someone makes a comment suggesting I have a basic knowledge level of watches. Comments like yours undermine my credibility as a watch reviewer, therefore I am right to defend my credibility.
I have reviewed over 300 watches in the last 2 years 9 months, a massive body of work; everything from a 10 Euro Casio F-91W to a 20,000 Rolex Daytona. Therefore it should be apparent that I have an in-depth knowledge of watches, and movements.
Patronising comments like "Please note that vintage rolexes have pressed clasps too." are something I take personally as they suggest I have a basic level knowledge of vintage Rolex pieces; as if I wouldn't know the aforementioned.
"It may well be a homage to the air king" Yes, this piece is a 5500 vintage Air-King homage, hence my video title being "Pagani Design PD-1723 (Vintage Air-King Homage) 4K Watch Review" to clarify it.
"but the 5500 is a 34mm watch, whereas the explorer is 36mm" I am aware of Rolex case sizes.
This is a 5000 Air-King homage, not a 1016 Explorer homage, regardless of the case size.

This one really doesn’t work for me .

They ruined such beautiful dial with this white colour font. Should have used gold colour like the rest or don't write anything at all.
Thank you for watching. Regards, #WR4K
Ya ya ya everyone one jump to get the the record to skip.
I'm punched out. Pagani design is deaf blind and dumb. They are sleeping still.
Never have a watch with poor quality lume.
It's the shit shovel in the corner. It's good for the job but you see the flaws. Is it worthwhile to be on your wrist 🤔
Thank you for watching Dre. Please edit your comment to delete the expletive. Thank you. Regards, #WR4K
The name is stolen. The design is stolen. Just your typical Chinese product.
Thank you for watching Jansen. Regards, #WR4K
try and get a Rolex Air king from 1958 today... this is an homage of a watch that is not being made anymore
Thank you for watching Carlo. Regards, #WR4K
The $120 price point of this timepiece doesn't require a whopping $40+ price increase. You can purchase a PT5000 for a lot less money. Have a look at the Tandorio
Military style watches on Ali Express, with the PT5000 movement, for a lot less money. Plus the NH38A movement could be used as an option, also the Jubilee bracelet option. Happy Chrimbo. JANBOY. RN. Rtd.
