    Something to try: (believe me, this is actually delicious if you love marmite)
    1) Get lovely hot toast and butter it quickly before it cools to let the butter melt
    2) Lightly spread some marmite over the toast
    3) Add a nice spread of crunchy peanut butter (or smooth peanut butter if you prefer)
    It sounds weird, but it's actually amazing.

    I was raised in Canada but my parents are from Britain so we usually had a jar of Marmite kicking around in the house.. None of my friends knew what the hell it was, but I learned to be able to eat it. My oldest brother absolutely hated it, and I remember one time with my middle brother, holding an open jar of it under his nose while he was sleeping to wake him up.. It was funny but I think he punched us!!

  • @robtyman4281

    Oh dear. The Americans do have an incredibly sweet tooth. Yes, Marmite is very salty.......so that's exactly why you DON'T spread on thickly as if it's chocolate spread. Just watching every single American (having looked at the label) go ahead and spread it really thickly on the biscuit - despite never having tasted it before. If I'd never tried Marmite before I'd try a tiny bit on my little finger first. I wouldn't just go ahead and spread a wedge of it on a biscuit lol. Gotta love Americans......the way they assume EVERYTHING is going to be sweet.

  • @halloweenville1
    @halloweenville1 7 лет назад

    Did anybody bother to tell them, that you are meant to use a tiny thin layer of it, usually on toast, most people who hate it, treat it as ice cream. and then get sick.

  • @andywright8803

    I was brought up on marmite. Marmite, cheese and lettuce sandwiches were always my favourite, but mow having tried marmite and marmalade together, that hite the sweet, sout, salt and umame buds all together.

    Americans look at it and think it will taste like chocolate. Wrong! Yes, it's very salty, but you need to spread it thin. Delicious!

  • @maxheadroom3839
    @maxheadroom3839 7 лет назад

    Make toast put some butter on it and a thin spread of Marmite it's how I eat it. It is strong so not too much. It tastes just like Vegemite but it's got a kick to it that Vegemite does not have.

  • @CamcorderSteve

    You Tube is awash with Americans eating Marmite for the first time. If the makers of this spread want to break into the American market they need to put on the jar instructions on how to use it. I have never seen people put it on water biscuits before, that is a big no-no. Try it on buttered toast and spread it using the side of the knife. Try to dot it around the toast as thinly as possible leaving plenty of gaps. A very amusing video and left me feeling just a little superior!!

  • @jca111

    I like big chewy salty pretzels with cheese. I'm going to try marmite on an unsalted pretzel. I bought a jar at the international market store in Cape Coral, Florida last month(it was the only place I could find that had it) and still haven't tried it yet. As soon as I buy a box of pretzels "I'm gonna give er a go" (as u Brit say). :)
