  • In this episode of Roadorama, I kick off the newest series of Car Reviews titled "Odds and Ends" where I get behind the wheel of Classic, Unique, or Purpose Built Cars, to get a break from looking at brand new tech-filled vehicles found on car lots today.
    In this video, I talk about the E34 1992 BMW 535i, and break down a few of it's basic features before taking it out on the road for a test drive to see how it holds up for its value in today's world. This review is brought to you by the owner of this car, Jay at Rose Automotive.

    I daily an E34 and got another as a nice weather summer car, these cars are extremely reliable and underrated, even as an old car, keep the service up to speed and they keep on going trouble-free.

      yeah, I wnated one as a first car, but since the last year, the prices on them have skyrocketed, now finding a nice road-worthy example that wont be eaten by the rustmonster is really hard

      @@Araararauna7 Rust free hard to come by depending on where yoy are, also many of them mechanically ruined by their owners... I wouldn't buy a running example neccesarily I think, don't trust the average E34 owner to have done things properly, and running examples, knowing how many of them are treated, I find to be overpriced... but yeah, worth it if find a original nice one, but yeah, thats not first car money anymore ..

      @@Araararauna7 unfortunatly and fortunatly I find, if the prices were to stay as low as they have been, will there be no E34s left, as people won't want to put money in them as they got them cheap. Now hopefully most good ones will be taken care of and saved from the owners that just kills them off through torturing them and modding the crap out of them. As they move on to newer models that are cheaper and more powerful.

    I wouldn't call a 535i a mid range model, it's almost at the top. I mean, it's 4 models "under"(518,520,525,530) and only two "over" (540, M5)

    This car has its front grille swapped, originally it comes with a narrower grille. The one that is on the car is the wider (facelifted) version from the V8 versions (and 525i later on 1995+). Also this car makes 208hp, not 220. You also mentioned exhaust leak, but due to its year it is possible that this car didn't come with a catalytic converter at all (it was an optional back then), hence the exhaust smell. Overall, nice review, it would be nice if you could show us more of the exterior while driving, or some drive-by footage.

      Awesome spotting! Definitely a facelift front end- the car did have cats but they are gutted by a previous owner- the exhaust leak came from the poor weld-up job that followed

      @richardprice7763 2 года назад

      The E28 535i had 220bhp because no cat fitted. In Europe the E34 535i was 211bhp with cat and heavier...

      There was a small facelift US-Spec e34 535i, from 09.1992 to 02.1993. Although, basically, it can only be distinguished by the exterior mirrors. The hood and wide grille were not installed on the e34 535i, but owners can do this. By the way, my 535 had a hood with a wide grille and mirrors after the facelift.

    Earlier model and an M30B35 engine, great car. The only thing that could make it more luxurious to drive is original Type 5 15" wheels ;D

    You nailed it about the gas pedal being to far forward. In my E34, I have to slant my foot and leg quite a bit. If I put the seat back to far I have to reach too much for the wheel, which is not a nice feeling. I'm nearly 6' 3".
