For reference, there's a higher-end version of this in the LTD range, the EC-01, which addresses some of the points noted in the video (for instance, it has a more modern neck joint and higher quality hardware/electronics).
Personally I think LTD 200 series are great value guitars and can be great mod platforms. And yes the double holes drilled for the pickguard is a big NO, I would have sent it back based on that or at least asked 25% off the paid price, but most likely I would have returned the guitar in exchange for another one.
The guitar plays great! It’s just the double drilled holes and the strings on the edge of the TOM bridge that I wasn’t a fan of! But I have no complaints about the playability of the guitar! You’re right though, great mod platform! Thanks for checking it out!
Wow , never consider an LTD ,now i have a basic understanding of the sound . Would it be fair to compare it to the Billy joe Armstrong single cut ,one pick up junior as for as the sound ? Once again thanks for your research on guitars . 😎👍🏽
It’s a bit different. The Ltd is definitely louder and grittier than the BJA, which is a little bit more subdued in comparison. Thanks for checking it out again!
LTDs are great but I think they get dismissed a bit because everyone thinks of the early 2000s EC-1000s which were and are great guitars but the dual EMG 81s lacked personality. Now that you can get them with Seymour Duncans or Fishmans as well as different sets of EMGs and can choose a slim or full thickness body, you're basically getting something akin to the Gibson Modern Supreme or Custom Axcess just without the nitro finish but for maybe 1/5 the price
I think a lot of people are stuck on the early 2000s model EC-1000s and tend to write LTDs off as one trick ponies. Those were great guitars but they didn't have the neck heel carve and only came with dual EMG 81s (unless you wanted/could find the sunburst one with zebra bobbin Seymour Duncans) which lacked personality Now that they come with a choice of Seymour Duncan or Fishman pickups as well as different sets of EMGs and you can choose the slim or full thickness body, you're pretty much getting a Les Paul Modern Supreme or Axcess Custom, minus the nitro finish but which you can spec out with your choice of high end hardware and pickups for maybe 1/5th the cost
@CompanyGrip I did watch your video. Nice job. I also own the Guild Polara Deluxe, and it's a GREAT guitar. The quality is better than the two Gibson SG's I own. I've never owned an LTD before. I'm just looking for a single pickup guitar for heavier stuff.
strings should NOT rest on the bringe edge , but only on top of the saddle mechanism. Absolutely shoud not touch anything else. Looks like the holes were drilled too close to the bridge!

Every review has been this lower and version I have the EC - 01 on its way right now, there is not one full review on this! Also it’s neck-thru
great review! saw this guitar on reverb and instantly fell in love. had to check youtube first though XD.
Love my Juniors so I'm Digging it..
Thanks for checking it out!

Would you buy this one or the Epiphone Les Paul Jr?
You also have to remember that this is a humbucker. The BJA is a p90. Well, the black i am most familiar with. Very different pickups

Very true! Good points. Thanks for checking it out!
I'm trying to decide between this LTD and the Guild Polara Night Edition. Those Guilds are great guitars too.
I’d go Guild. Did you watch my video on that? Much better quality. At least my experience.

Very helpful, thanks.

Is it a 500k pot?? I have the TE 201. I can't tell
really enjoyed “missed flights”
Thanks! I appreciate that. Thanks for checking out the video. Cheers!

Agree 100%, thanks for checking out the video!
Needs a tone control
Sorry, but overpriced for what it is and also the pickguard holes... ugh
The pickguard holes are def inexcusable. Thanks for checking it out!
