Yeah he was really put together! Too bad that he got injured or he would've fit right in with the Road Warriors and Nikita Koloff and Krusher Kruschev, all monsters!
I think Ellering is one of those guys who has fallen through the cracks among old wrestling fans. Amazing video. My back STILL hurting after watching his back during that 735(?) dead lift.
It was always hilarious when someone would be describing their training regimen to Gordon Solie and he would chime in and reveal that he knew next to nothing about weight training. Like when he described Lex Lugar as a "bench press champion".
Hard to believe Paul was a powerlifter. He looked like a 90lb weaking next Hawk and Animal. Tells you how huge they were if they can make Paul looked like a guy who never picked up a weight.
His heavy training days as well as his in ring career were cut short, due to an injury. By the time he was managing Hawk and Animal, a good many of his gains were long gone.
@Kevin Michaud Who are you? So he is new, it's a free country last time I checked. You need to watch your mouth sonny! Or are you one of those people? You know!
1st name basis, really? Why don't you throw up a photo of how awesome you were or are. Why do you have to come on an awesome video like this and talk stupid shit?
Love old school, old films of old fashioned iron pumping. I could watch all day long .
That’s Paul Ellering? Damn he was a Road Warrior before Hawk and Animal
Yeah, injuries really did him in so he became a manager.

@@psychosem17 bullshit he just got tired of working out
Totally mind blowing. I had no idea
He was sexy AF too.
These old school men were no BS!
like so much.....Basic, Heavy, Rude, Efective and simple.....I love it...
Paul was a powerful dude
*Effective*
Where's all the comments? Love these old workout vids.
MikeDunn my inspiration to train even hard

Paul ellering was so young
OLD SCHOOL PREBAILS EVER!!!! 😎💪🏻💪🏽🙌🏻
Imagine him in Planet Fitness, the lunk alarm would be going hard🤣🤣🤣
Met him once, class act & the guy was legit ironman!!!
Good juice in those days I guess
my shoulders still hurting from those weighted dips he's banging out!
Damn he was jacked . That’s the type of physique I aspire for
Then get on roids.

Back when wrestlers looked like wrestlers.
Not sure on the other lifts but the deadlift had some dummy plates.

great video. back in the glory days of rasslin
jbtheswami44 manager of lod
Definitely wasn’t 500lbs bench. Looks like 315lbs for 10 on the squat.
Paul would've been the perfect 3rd road warrior...
Paul Ellering in his prime would be very close to the strength of Hawk in his prime or mybe just as strong as Mike
On 60 years
I always thought Paul should have been more of a physical force along with the Road Warriors. He didn't do too much in the ring as I recall.
His back was too messed up by then.
He wrestled a lot and then was injured and became a manager
PPL was legit
Lots of deca and dianabol.
They were completely legal back then
What yr was this he's still living right
Gotta be late 70s
Yikes, forgot how bad form was back in the day when it came to heavy deadlifts. He no doubt visited snap city a few times in his prime.
Paul had more legs than Bird Leg Hawk ever had ....
Hawks physique didn’t require legs
Hawk was notorious for skipping leg day.

The OG of fake weights
He isn't accurate about the weight he is using.
