- Have you heard about the Women's Wildcard? It's an awesome initiative done by F1 Esports, a female qualification route giving us women the opportunity to be in the Pro Exhibition (if fast enough of course!) and maybe get noticed by one of the 10 F1 Esports teams competing in the PRO championship! They're doing this so we can see more females racing in their Esports competition. You all know this is something really important to me as it is one of my main goals to show women how Sim Racing is a super hobby and in this case a hobby which can even become a career!

I mean, its cool, but its not because there is 0 girl in F1 esport that you should blame them, its super hard to get to this level and it takes more dedication
I might watch if there is an F1 esport female competition but you've got to remember that, for now the people that usally watch F1 esport is for how close the competition is and how intense the racing is. I'm not saying F1 Female isnt gonna work but we know that if its not for the first round, the series wont be as popular as the main one, its maybe a bit too soon to introduce a series like this one, maybe they should have waited a bit and make the first one big enough to have a side series with less competitiveness and only females involved.
I could be wrong in everything I just said but those are my feeling about this... I'm open to talk about it if necessary
Personally I think it is better to start a task today because you will be better at it tomorrow and that's why F1 started this initiative, in the hope that in a few series we'll have loads of talented female drivers and need a Women's Wildcard! I started MFR last year, we are now at season 3 and the progress the girls have made has been incredible and they have inspired more to join, we've got a much bigger grid this season, if I did not start it then we would not be there... :)
@@Theamusante I get what you mean, but maybe it would have been wiser to do it on a smaller scale, start with league races and grow it to then go to something involved directly like F1 Esport and F1 teams, some guys work everyday to get to the Esport level and having a series that big with probably a standard much lower than the official one could feel like a rip-off for the guys working so hard to get noticed and that, I'm sure is going to bring jealousy and hate, and I say that because I am working towards that myself and play 4 hours a day and some of my friend who saw that thought the same...
I'm sorry if it sounds like I'm already not so happy about it and my opinion is probably not the one this series will need but I'm just letting you know that the guys that play competitively in the F1 game might not like the idea of this series and they would have been the people with the most interest in an F1 esport series
@@darkice7992 I think its really good that they're promoting this on a big scale. Because, if more women see this, the more will join and be inspired. Also, I feel you should look at this like the challenger series, only if youre fast enough you can get in to the pro-draft. But the more women there are in the womens series, the bigger the chance that one of those is fast enough for the pro draft. And that is how you get more women eventually in e-sports. And sure, it might not be as popular as the main this, but that is not the point. Its to inspire more women to get in to e-sports. In general, I only see positives.

I think you're very brave to put yourself out there like this. Sadly, too many discussions about this online are dominated by hatred, ignorance and sexism.
Is having a women-only eSports series the ideal solution? No.
Is it better to do something like this until we start to see more racers who are women competing in top level eSports? Absolutely.
When I'm racing online, I don't know if the person I'm racing (or more likely crashing into...) is a man, woman, Black, Asian, Latinx, Jewish, Muslim, a transperson or non-binary. We are all racers and we all deserve to feel like this is OUR sport, because it's one of the only sports where all genders can compete and race together.
This is a very good idea. The video game is the single greatest thing that has happened to F1 in the last 20 years. It introduces hundreds of thousands of new people to the sport while teaching them the teams, drivers, and strategy. It's probably worth over 100 million in advertising but has mostly been aimed at boys/men.
p.s. If you want a girl to race F1 esports maybe you can convince Emily Jones to try it.
Thanks for your comment Mason, that's exactly how I got more and more into F1! The 'My Team' in the game taught me a lot about F1 team management, tyre management and all that haha, otherwise I'd probably still be clueless (well that and Drive To Survive on Netflix!) I've met lots of lovely girls who play F1 2020 or are Sim Racing so I hope I can get some of them involved!

@Micro Soft Anyone can simrace, it doesnt matter if you are good or not. A lot of Women would like to try it but are too afraid cause Racing is not a "girly" thing or because they think they cant compete in a sport mainly dominated by men. I for myself would like to see more Michelle Moutons in this world cause why the fuck not. Why are you so butthurt about this? You dont like women or what?
@Micro Soft yeah you just dont get it mate, there is nothing wrong with motivating women to take part in a community thats mainly dominated by men. This is not about competition or trying to become a racer in real life it´s about having fun and getting to know people who like the same stuff that you do. Have a good one!

I have just started so I don't think I'm up to this format, also unfortunately I don't understand English very well 😭 and I think this could lead to problems (Google Translator is my friend).
