They’re nice! I think my bunnies would devour them, though, because they’re so short. I only bought one rose this year. It’s a white Iceberg. I definitely recommend it.

Thanks Will! Yes, the bunnies will eat these, so I have to be vigilant. I’ve always wanted an Iceberg rose - the white flowers always look so perfect to me! Now I have rose envy. 🤍

Great information Laura! I have red drift in a large container out in the yard in full sun. I planted in the fall. The first flush of blooms this Spring were stunning♥

Ooh I can imagine how beautiful the first flush of your Red Drift was, Snappy! ❤️ Those double flowers are indeed stunning! 🌹

Great info. I have the Popcorn Drifts. They seem to not sprawl quite as much as the white. Love these. So low maintenance!

Thanks Mary! That’s interesting about Popcorn versus the White sprawling. 💛🤍
I agree with you how wonderfully low maintenance they are. Such a nice change from my high maintenance Knock Outs! 🙃🙂

Thank you for this information. You help me make a decision for a new sunny bed I have that I wanted continuous color but did not want annuals. Btw, I’m a new subscriber and loving your channel.

You're very welcome Kimmi! And thanks for subscribing too! ❤ Yes, I like having these drift roses definitely instead of annuals! Much cheaper and they aren't fussy at all, so sometimes I think these drift roses are easier than annuals would be!

As in zone 3 , I put a cone in winter and we have a great amount of snow. I hope with the lack of snow in 2024, they will not have too much damage.

I so love my drift roses! They never fail to impress me. They stay healthy, prolific and they smell amazing! Right now, walmart has them on sale for $5! Sigh, I cannot put them in my garden knowing I cannot tend to them daily. It's gotten hectic w/very little rain. I have slipped a bit and bought 3 climbing roses though 😜 Your roses look beautiful! ❤💚❤

I know you have beautiful drift roses -- and at least with you not being able to tend to them daily, they can handle waiting for you. ❤ Walmart for $5???? That's insane!! So where will you put the climbing roses? (I'm glad you bought them, as you seem to be a rose whisperer!)

@@GardenSanity I have an arbor in my back yard that has a couple of clematis on each side. I've put one on each side of the arbor and one along my back fence. They're doing awesome so far. Lots of new growth showing. It will be beautiful.

@@truthofthematter9409 Ooooh it sounds so pretty! 💓 I've been looking for a large (i.e. wide) arbor that I could put in a specific spot and just haven't found anything yet. It might be an off-season project to search around.

@@GardenSanity We built mine when I first bought my home. It's not too hard, really. It is pretty but I can only imagine it covered with these pink/peach roses all season. I'm so excited.

Hi Laura! Thanks for the informative video. I got my red drift roses at my local garden center and they were beautiful! I put them in a large container with soil and within a week, they look completely dried up! I am so upset by this and I’m not entirely sure what I did wrong. I waited three days to water them since the information card said twice a week and they are drought tolerant, but now I am thinking I should have watered more. In addition, one plant is doing better than the other and I think it’s because they got less shade.. am I too late in salvaging these plants and getting them to bloom again this spring/summer? Any tips and tricks or thoughts additional things I could have done wrong?

Madissen, I'm so sorry to not have replied sooner. You were/are correct about them needing more water right after planting and full sun. All plants need a lot more water when newly planted into your garden or containers, because it will be at least a few years until they are established in their "new home" and can then handle periods of drought a bit better. Especially when planting in containers, err on the side of more water not less, as soil in containers dries out much more quickly than soil in the ground. Did your drift roses survive? I hope so! 🌹

Hi Laura. I watched a video you did explaining how your husband used an auger and added something to the clay soil to improve it. I can’t remember which video that was. Can you help pinpoint it?

    • @GardenSanity
      @GardenSanity  Год назад +1

Hi Lisa -- Yes, that was a video from last Summer when we were working to improve a "wet area" of clay soil. The video is called "Three Shrubs for a Wet Bed" I believe. I hope it helps you. Just watch out for any possible pipes or tubes underground. For some reason, ours were never buried as deeply as we wish they were. And if you have any questions after watching -- just ask me! 🙂
