My son's diet consists of mostly macaroni cheese, choco squares, sausages and fromage frais. People have so many suggestions for ways to get food down him but the Autism Nurse told me to just get him fed. Trying to trick or force him into new foods will only make things worse and letting him eat what he wants to eat keeps us all much happier and less anxious. When people make suggestions I just nod and smile now...
I agree with you.. My doctor told me to give my what he like to eat. You can put an ittem on another plate to see if he try it.. But yeah let him eat what he like so he won't be hungry
I'm glad you guys read the comments, people with less subscribers than you guys and yet never read or take time to look through the comments because they just got lazy. Appreciate your guys' interaction
Wow, that is cool how his diet has changed over time! At least he has found a groove that works for him and that is totally fine! Great video and those viewers/followers had really good questions! Great video as always and keep up the GREAT work! ❤️💙👍🏾
I was the exact same for my whole childhood. I had a wider range than Andy but it was all specific things and it was difficult for my family. As I've gotten older and spent a lot of time working on my different skills things I eat more foods now. I hope Andy can find lots of foods he likes and eats in the future!
Preferred foods are a must. I spend 50/60 a week just on those items for my 5 yr old. I worry about his diet and his health but it's what he wants and I'd rather he eat something than nothing because he refuses to eat. I do try everything and give him the chance to try something new for him. Every once in a while he astonishes by trying something out of his norm.
Chris Howard - my little person only eats baked beans. So fortunately, the weekly shop isn't too expensive. Starting school next year may be a problem with lunchtimes etc....
@@barnsey8380 for his lunches I put everything I possibly can in his backpack so he basically has a buffet depending on his moods he can pick and choose. I can relate to the very limited diet but can also tell you as they get older they get a little more adventurous with foods. Dieticians and therapists can help with food introduction it's a long road friend your not alone
Chris Howard wow that’s crazy, I’m 16 now but when I was in prep and grade 1, I always was made to eat food I didn’t like and had it for 2 years straight but in grade 2 I made to make my own lunches and have since then and still am but until about grade 6 I would make the same sandwich and through it in the bin for like 6 years haha, u sound like a good parent but make sure they eat their Fruits lol, well u don’t have too but fruits are good
Thanks for making of vlogs every day Kev makes me so happy to see the progress that Andy is making and how well you and Amy are doin. I’m currently studying computer science in college and every day feels like a dragyour videos always make me smile once I come home and get to relax for once :-)
You guys are amazing parents and don’t let anyone change that, he might be different from other kids but he’s still your son at the end of the day, enjoy it while you can, xx
I remember watching a programme called Eat Well For Less i think. Two presenters gave a family a challenge of feeding on food that was put into jars, containers and bags by the presenters (or whoever worked with them) with only strips of white paper saying what they are. No fancy bright packaging, no names of known brands.
I never ask questions because my 9 yr old is the same way. 😂 We went a solid 2 months with him eating nothing but pickle chips/ crisps. He still eats a bag a day but he's decided to eat pretzels in there and mcdonalds french fries. Kid likes salt. 😂 We starved him out when he was 3 just to appease other people, never again.....fed is best applies to all humans not just babies. Best thing about all of this, no actual need to learn to cook. 😁
I wonder if the best point in Andy's obsession to a food to try to introduce him to something else is early on, like maybe a couple of days after he suddenly starts eating seemingly endless whatever it is, you try to introduce a different food. Perhaps he will blend the positive experience of eating whatever is THE food with the negative experience of being persuaded to try a new food.
I was just thinking a experiment would be good to see if Andy could go to shop you let him go and get Lucy to follow him but then thought, bad idea Rob if he dose it once he will think it's ok to do it anytime he wants.
What I would suggest for Andy is Limiting crisps to one bag per day try toast and peanut butter instead Try to cut out chocolate because it has a lot of sugar try to stay away from diet pop instead try drinking water and new foods every day for Andy Try to avoid sugary drinks and sweets try to get him to drink one soda per day Try Chocolate milk because it has a lot of nutrients
my girl got me into this account and i live watching these videos i have autism my self and im 6ft 7 mild build and i can eat alot my diet concists of meat feast pizza bottles and bottles of milkshake chicken related meals i can eat a full chicken chicken broth chicken wraps and alot of milkshakes due to of my teeth im not allowed to have pop or energy i have a sweet tooth i like chocolate i can eat loads my farther calls me a bottomless pit i enjoy watching these videos ^^
My son will only eat maybe 7 different things. Kids with autism are even more picky than other kids when it comes to food. You can't just shove it down their throats. I think Andy is doing a lot better with food than he was last year. Maybe it is just hard for people to understand if they don't have an autism child. Idk
Thanks for answering my question Kev! Such a shame that he stopped drinking milk though 😞 that could really help get him nutrients but he is also a teenager though so that could add to the pickyness.
Has Andy tried fizzy juice? (Is it available there?) It seems to meet the criteria for his drinks and might help his immune system some during the winter.
Have you tried emailing the Easter Egg companies? Sometimes with stories such as Andy’s where it’s part of his diet they send freebies out especially stuff that’s out of season, worth a try ☺️
My asd sons diet is dairylea sandwiches waffles fish fingers nuggets from macdonalds n fries walkers crisps ready salted pringles n just water he wont drink anyother drinks xxxx
Send Kevin over my way after I've had dairy. He'll never call you a hipster again. Then again, he may be traumatized. 😂 It's like death and destruction when I've had dairy. The whole town will be lethally gassed and picture a landslide of mud during a flood, rushing throughout the streets as people scream and flee in horror. Yeah. It's not a pretty sight when I have dairy.
Your right about the diet, both of my parents have eaten whatever they wanted for 60 years and there in perfect health yeah there a bit chubby but not unhealthy
Have you tried smoothies fruits with soymilk and put it in a cool cup with a lid so he can't see what it is. I'm able to sneak spinach in a banana soymilk and little Vega protein.
Try grapes as a healthy snack and Limit caffeine to one per day For Andy try protein shakes or fruit smoothies For Him But Get Andy to drink plenty of water and Limit Soda to one a day because pop has a lot of sugar in it and it has no calories What I would do is look at the calories and tell him how much pop is one serving size per person Try food portion size because of What serving of food if Andy if hungry try a fruit or vegetable at snack time if you can get him to eat Oatmeal or Cereal for breakfast and a healthy snack is going to be nuts for him for a while That could be one serving per day No crisps as a snack for a while or waffles
I mean no harm with this question. I'm genuinely curious and I care about your family. If you must give Andy soda, would it be healthier to give him regular soda? Opposed to diet soda with aspartame?
please don’t ever consume diet drinks with aspartame/sucralose etc, they are poison!! seriously. they cause blood sugar issues and other problems- possibly cancer as well. real sugar drinks are so much better in moderation
They obviously do get attension, and they seem like smart girls, they know he needs more care than them so to speak, so even if they didn't like it, it's tough
My son can tell the difference in bread even if it's toasted and what , all my son will eat is bland brown food autism kids am more clever than people think because they tell the difference in food they are so clever love them all it's so hard to look after autistic kids
I hardly ever watch family vlogs or vlogs in general but ive watched these videos for 2 weeks now and im loving them!
True that!

You should do a challenge where you take Andy to the supermarket and let him choose anything he wants
I like the idea, but when we’ve done stuff like that in the past he just picks all the things closest to him to try and get it over with!
Kevin Chapman i would do the exact same thing
Andy's amazing
Just started watching you guys love the videos keep going x x
I was just thinking a experiment would be good to see if Andy could go to shop you let him go and get Lucy to follow him but then thought, bad idea Rob if he dose it once he will think it's ok to do it anytime he wants.
Great Video Kev, Loved it 😎
Love you guys!! And I love Andy!! He is an amazing young man!! I am a very very pickey eater and I am fine so Andy will be fine!
Do you think andy is capable of being self aware? Such as him wanting to change the way he looks or how small or big he is?
What I would suggest for Andy is Limiting crisps to one bag per day try toast and peanut butter instead Try to cut out chocolate because it has a lot of sugar try to stay away from diet pop instead try drinking water and new foods every day for Andy Try to avoid sugary drinks and sweets try to get him to drink one soda per day Try Chocolate milk because it has a lot of nutrients

Has Andy tried fizzy juice? (Is it available there?) It seems to meet the criteria for his drinks and might help his immune system some during the winter.

Try rice cakes, Maybe salt and vinegar ones would be good.
Rice cakes actually have less calories and stuff than crisps, so maybe not.
Cob is the absolutely 100% correct way to say a bread roll . Its just fact lol

Brianna Gordy - same in our house! Never again did the grandparents go against my "no dairy" rule.
Your right about the diet, both of my parents have eaten whatever they wanted for 60 years and there in perfect health yeah there a bit chubby but not unhealthy
For the chocolate, would chocolate buttons work?
Have you tried smoothies fruits with soymilk and put it in a cool cup with a lid so he can't see what it is. I'm able to sneak spinach in a banana soymilk and little Vega protein.

Luv ur vids
I mean no harm with this question. I'm genuinely curious and I care about your family. If you must give Andy soda, would it be healthier to give him regular soda? Opposed to diet soda with aspartame?
He drinks 6-8 cans a day. That amount of sugar and caffeine would cause a lot of issues. We have to choose the lesser of two evils unfortunately
please don’t ever consume diet drinks with aspartame/sucralose etc, they are poison!! seriously. they cause blood sugar issues and other problems- possibly cancer as well. real sugar drinks are so much better in moderation
Has Andy ever tried drinking sparkling/fizzy water?

Noooo soda try Hansons soda or sparking waters that have fruit juice in them.
Does andy get any benefits
Does his liquid vitamin supplement have to be added to a food, and not a drink?
It can be added to milk but he won't drink milk so its added into his custard and he can't taste it.

Hi. I love your videos and I have a question. Do your girls not get annoyed because it looks to me like all your attention goes to Andy and not them?
They obviously do get attension, and they seem like smart girls, they know he needs more care than them so to speak, so even if they didn't like it, it's tough
What kind of biscuits does he eat now
