I was skeptical after I read the Crunchyroll description, but this series has surpassed all my expectations. It’s now one of my favorites.
Same here! I thought I wouldn't like it, or it just wouldn't be for me, but between hearing people talk about it, seeing a clip on RUclips and the legit 5-Star rating, I figured I'd give it a shot. Now it's one of my absolute favorite shows, and Maomao is one of my favorite characters ever.
its basically a mix of detective conan and doctor stone.
I love this series. It's one of the best of the last year. Well written, well acted, and MaoMao's brilliance is unparalelled.

I love this anime! It reminds me of joy and excitement I felt watching Avatar the Last Airbender as a kid….the serious topics, emotional connections but still moments of humor. I know the premise of the two shows are not alike but something about the feel of both of them are the same to me. This is a great series and I am looking forward to the next episodes.

True but we're lucky enough to get 24 episodes. That's like 2 entire light novels. Obviously I'm hoping for more though

@@kantatenshima2480Killua is immune to poison? I'm guessing for other reasons.
@@zoraackerman1684 Killua's family trained him to be an assassins since before he could walk. That included torture resistance training, and he was made to be near completely immune to all poisons (Killua's dad has to tourniquet his arm after it was cut a poisoned knife, since the poison was strong enough to weaken him if allowed to spread). His later nen tecniques also use the fact that he is immune to lightning to work(It still hurts, but he can take it).

Besides do not let its incomplete status distract you from the fact that bungee gum has the properties of both rubber and gum.

With Taste Testers I always wondered what their supposed to do about slow acting poisons. Like this thing takes X hours to come into effect. With Maomao that of course won't be a problem, but for normal people it would.
It is explained in the books, but MaoMao explicitely says that slow-working poisons are an issue. Silver only react to some strong fast-acting poisons, food taster can only protect you from different fast-acting poisons also. You can only hope for them to detect slow-acting poison based on taste, smell etc, but chances are not to high.

The silver only really reacts to arsenic (and a few other heavy metals), which has been a staple of ingested poisonings for a long, long time. It builds up in the body slowly, so repeated small doses can eventually result in death. Much like the white lead powder from the first episode. A lot of the job of food taster would be 'does this taste/smell good?' because the kind of foods being served have specific tastes and if you dilute it, the taste/smell alters. Ingestible poisons are not generally as effective as books make them out to be - your entire digestive tract is built by evolution to detect/eject/destroy the bad stuff - anything you eat gets washed in a bath of strong acid and then is subjected to powerful enzymes. Having the taster there in the first place is a strong barrier, well-trained or otherwise. There are exceptions - like botulism (but that is difficult to make reliably outside of a lab) and tetrodotoxin - from pufferfish and the like - which is used repeatedly in the books, but that onsets very fast and very detectably. And in a way that MaoMao (like fugu connoisseurs) happens to enjoy.

Okay but like what's the point of even trying to poison someone influential anymore if they all know it goes through a poison taster first lol, the logic of the show is a bit off here but I'll accept it.
"You miss every shot you don't take" may be the mentality behind it, plus, I wouldn't trust someone who thinks it's a good idea to poison someone, to have sound logic.
They can bribe the poison tester and/or use a poison that takes longer to work

Provide some that have mature relationships. I didn’t mean many don’t have good relationships most rom-coms do. By juvenile I meant teenage like first love style. This had a very different style without all the awkward shyness that is rarer in my opinion.
I will admit any super long wronging series like Bleach, Naruto, DragonBall, One Piece or Fairy Tale might have deeper relationships but I wont be catching up on those anytime soon just don’t have time and never watched them from their in set.
