    My local Walmart keeps expanding their album section and I never see anyone looking at them except for me.

    WalMart ceased selling censored albums years ago! The first uncensored album I remember was a friend buying a then current vinyl only Pantera collection.

    Walmart......free shipping/returns. Bought at least 25 this year, returned one because warped-mailman probably. . Have a ton of MoFi, Acoustic Sounds, etc, independent records stores in Hawaii not worth the drive, quality of the vinyl has been excellent.

    i picked up the Red Vinyl version of American Idiot,this morning ,there's a sight warp, but plays great still.

    I have several "exclusives" from walmart and target I'm happy with...even if it meant I had to exchange an album 3 or 4 times to get a copy that's not warped. You'd think they'd figure out how to handle and store them by now.

    I only support independent sellers or record stores for vinyl/cds. They need your money more than Walmart and Amazon.

      I used to think that way, until in the past few weeks I've seen a bunch of independent record stores buying up Black Friday $15 albums from Walmart and selling them for a big profit in their store!

    The only gripe I have about Wallmart and Target releases is that they are not available for purchase overseas. Can't get them here in Australia unless you want to pay the ridiculous prices from flippers.

    Thanks again for all the cool info! Of the exclusive walmart releases, how exclusive are they? How do we know how many pressings of a particular album were actually made?

    • @TheVinylDen
      @TheVinylDen  Год назад +1

      They are "exclusive" only because that color is only available at Walmart. My only complaint is that I'd love to know how many copies are pressed of these releases. Walmart never releases that information, and a lot of times they will reissue older exclusives 6-12 months after they were first released.

      Just because they are Walmart doesn’t necessarily make them cheaper, their colored Metallica are a couple bucks more than the standard reissues and the ones with replica back stage passes or tickets etc are $4 or $5 more

    My Walmart doesn’t have too many exclusives. I do buy music from Walmart. However, I shop online and all stores that sells music. I don’t hear you speak about buying music at Target. Any reason for that? The Target I shop at do have exclusives. Thanks for sharing!✌🏽

    • @TheVinylDen
      @TheVinylDen  2 года назад +1

      Target doesn’t have as big of a selection of exclusive releases but I have several from them also. I think Target focuses more on selling exclusives of new releases, whereas Walmart has exclusives of new releases and quite a few new reissues.

    I really don't care if vinyl outsells CDs. Truth be known, they're probably lying. I absolutely refuse to pay those prices. I'll always buy CDs and cassettes. They're a whole lot less expensive, and cassettes sound about the same, and CDs sound a whole lot better.

    Metallica does not have their own pressing plant… their Walmart reissues were pressed at Pallas.

    • @TheVinylDen
      @TheVinylDen  Год назад +1

      According to James they do have their own presses for their label in Germany, but you are right that these were pressed at Pallas where the last remasters were done. I wonder if it’s just smaller runs (like fan club releases) that they are pressing.

    • @TheVinylDen
      @TheVinylDen  Год назад

      Yeah, I’ve seen comments from people saying that they don’t trust Walmart to press records. It always makes me laugh a little. They are just the distributor, it’s not like they have a pressing plant somewhere kicking out these records.

    Does walmart censor their vinyls like they do with cds?

    • @TheVinylDen
      @TheVinylDen  Год назад

      No, and they no longer sensor CDs either. They use to not sell anything that had a parental advisory sticker, but those days are long over. The only Walmart exclusive record I know of that is censored is Creed’s greatest hits, but that was a band/label decision and the only way it’s available. I believe it’s also censored on streaming services.

    That Dookie press should be brown.

    • @TheVinylDen
      @TheVinylDen  2 года назад +1

      Yes, it was the Creed greatest hits. I’m pretty sure it was only ever available as a censored album, so it must have been a band/label decision.

    • @ganonkenobi
      @ganonkenobi 2 года назад

      @@TheVinylDen I had a suspicion. I had read that on discogs review. They're definitely a greatest hits band to me, and I wasn't familiar with the track that was censored anyway.

    Walmart is a category killer. They hurt independent record stores , they also have a long history of dumbing down the quality of many products. Supporting them in any form is doing harm to the overall vinyl business. Especially the independent record stores.
