Trevor, railroad wife here. The negotiations have been going on for years not just months. Also, "some rail workers have rejected" I know that's a different news clip, but several hundreds rejected it. Thank you for adding it to your segment and showing the world what so many rail workers are dealing with; and some have died due to the lack of sick days.

Have a cousin thats with long shoreman/dockworkers union in Port of Los Angeles. Went on strike about 2-3 years ago. Management felt like they had upper hand. However iirc once some of the lrg companies (car manufacturers, diff importers, etc) started losing money daily they were the ones to privately pressure Management to get a deal done...

There are many careers where a person has a dangerous job and doesn't get compensated properly for it. Many of those folks don't threaten to hold their country hostage.
I worked in a place that did depot maintenance on Army Air Force planes. One of my friends was an engineer for SP. He wasn’t driving trains for some reason I can’t recall. He dreaded the day that he would get a call to return to work. When he was home and the phone rang, he would run out of the house, yelling for his wife to say he wasn’t home.
You can see it really pained McConnell to have to lie like that.
His face was like "really? We really gonna throw away this voting bloc? But what about my evil thirst for power at any cost??"

The train employees just want more than one paid sick day a year and they deserve it. They have been taken advantage of for far too long. They are being forced to drive without sleep and while sick because Buffet and others want to make billions. And they’re driving things like nuclear waste around. They deserve paid time off, sick leave, and to have a safe work environment. They are vital to our entire economy.

Face reality, Congress can’t force the railroad companies to accept every labor union demand without the current US Supreme Court ruling against them, and our national economy absolutely cannot afford even a short strike. Maybe in ten years the national liberal demographics will be high enough to nationalize our nation’s railroads (which would have running with much more efficiency), but in till then just accept reality please.

Personally, I think they're going to put Hasan Minhaj in the spot. He's got a family and might appreciate the steadier "9 to 5" ... but hey, just a guess.
I'd enjoy seeing Ronny host, as well. I think overall, though, their current line up has a lot of people starting/doing their own stuff on the side that it probably ends up being a big conversation about what projects they'd be giving up to do this daily job. That's definitely not something everyone will want to do if they'd rather be flexible to take on various jobs throughout the year and in different locations.
I’m watching this at 8 in the morning. Trevor may cry at having to eat Kraft macaroni and cheese for dinner, but I’m eating the microwave Kraft macaroni and cheese for breakfast right now as I watch this. And yes, I’m crying about it! My whole family is sick and we haven’t been able to go grocery shopping. Or do the dishes. Thank goodness I found a plastic spoon!

Ronnie always finds a way to take stabs at Trevor, sometimes in a more subtle way (like the apartheid joke), or directly like with Trevor's own tweets... I think Ronnie is underrated as a comedian, he's so funny.
You are amazing Trevor! I belong to a union in Alaska and we are negotiating a contract. We as well can’t plan our lives, as soon as a ship arrives we go to work till all the containers are stowed. I don't understand the whole Railroad thing.
If the Railroad is that essential, and a strike that damaging, doesn't it show that the workers should be valued very highly?
Why are we pressuring the railroad workers in this situation? Why not the put the pressure on the business owners instead? If an industry has this much potential to damage our way of life, and is being run so poorly that they can't work out a deal with their highly important workers, maybe it should be nationalized anyway.
Apple does let app developer company know about reason why they will be pulling app off their shelf. May be he didn't get those reasons because he fired most of the developers who would understand that? 🤔

Except for one case, and that's family.
I have a friend whose family makes my hackles raise sometimes. It's the culture of their household and their religion combined. Pent up aggression, military mindset, and a very clear conservative heirarchy makes it uncomfortable to spend much time with them. My friend is great, her family is fine i guess. I did get along with her mother well enough.
I have some relatives that are very religious and stuck a century back in their thinking. Last time i saw one of them, they expressed genuine concern that i was an unmarried adult woman (still am) with a job in tech (a man's job), and had previously lived with a man while in college who (worse still) wasn't the head of the household of us 4 and wore skirts around the house. He was simultaneously a threat because he was a man and not a threat because he acted no different from the 3 women he lived with.
That's pretty evil to me.

So, I had to do a double take on the “Ship the garbage back to Costa Rica” bit because not only I’m from and live in Costa Rica and never heard of anything like that, but also because the idea of shipping trash mentally flash-banged me, but after some research, as I suspected, that doesn’t happen here, some Latin countries do take trash from other places but it’s super illegal here. So, yeah, now I’m both super surprised at the things the U.S companies outsources because they are cheap, and even more glad that I live in a country with strong environmental protection 😅

Eating Kraft Mac n' Cheese for dinner is cause for depression in precisely the same way eating beans and rice is... depressing only to those so out of touch with humanity that they don't realize that a humble dinner isn't exactly an outlier experience.
