  • It's the general assumption that traction control inhibits speed. But let's put that to the test.
In this video we attempt to find the 0-60 time difference between having traction control on, and turning it off.

TC Off saved him .4 seconds on the best runs. About what I'd expect

What type of surface are you doing your 0-60 testing? Concrete is absolutely more preferable over asphalt/ black top. The black top has a much porous/ textured surface which reduces the amount of surface contact with your tires resulting in lost traction and sub par launches. Keep in mind when manufacturers do their time testing they are doing it with professional drivers in the most ideal conditions possible. The fact that you got the car down to a 6.4 means you have definitely increased the performance of your car, and most likely your driving skills.
Keep up the great work and keep the awesome content coming.

Definitely asphalt. But I gotta use what's available to me. One day I hope to build my own track. One day. And for sure, they test under the best conditions with pros, so there is a definite improvement in performance on this car. And if you watch my first couple of launches, you can tell I've gotten better too, thank you! And thank you for the compliments! It means a lot!

@@TheParkingLotMechanic oh man building your own race track is a lofty dream. I hope to see that a reality. I would make the cross country drive to race at your track.

Love your vids! What app do you use to get your 0-60 times? Keep it up tho!

Much appreciated! And I use the Veepeak OBDII scanner with the car scanner app. Feels a bit more accurate than GPS based but I did use the Race Timer app for some GPS based 1/4 times. It worked well too!

I try to be around 3000 rpm without TC on. Less and the engine bogs down and too much more and the tires just spin.

When you lose traction DTC stabilizes it and gain traction again, but to completely take off traction control hold down traction control until it pops up and turns off completely. Then you can do donuts, drift, or do digs without the car losing power trynna find traction
