Do you still take glass? Our local recycle places in JoCo, do not take glass anymore.

After being sorted at this facility, these used recyclable materials are sold to manufacturers who in turn recycle them into new products.

We got a little more information on where exactly our recyclables often go in Wake County! Glass from the facility usually goes to Strategic Materials in Wilson, NC where it’s sorted for manufacturing into new bottles or fiberglass. Paper and cardboard baled at the Raleigh MRF may go to paper mills in the USA owned by Sonoco Recycling’s parent company, Sonoco, Inc. Aluminum and steel cans are transported to privately owned, domestic metal recyclers. Plastic bottles can go to international or domestic recyclers, including Unifi in Reidsville, NC.

okay. Thank you for all the details I appreciate your response. Our recycling wasn’t being picked up for a month (reporting it did not work)and then when they came I saw the recycling truck take both trash and recycling and load it on at once. And I was having my doubts about recycling. But your response sure does restore some trust.
