I like this drama that all main character actors are given their chance to shine in their acting.
I'm still amazed she set all that up by herself in such a short amount time. I wonder how she gathered all the ammunition so fast and with hardly anyone seeing her. But the best part of this scene got cut off at the end as to why she engage her revenge so late.
Because she wanted to wait to extract her revenge until after the Empress's birthday. She didn't want to ruin her birthday party so she waited til the day after

There could be 2 reasons why Consort Yue slapped the 5th princess.
1st could be because of what she's saying. Slandering her, the Yue family, and also being disrespectful to the Emperor and Empress. 2nd reason could be because she knew the Empress couldn't do it.
The Empress was born kind base on the story or as what I saw while watching. Anyways she was very kind to begin with and spoiled her children very much, that's why she's very kind to Shaoshang too as a mother because it is her nature which differs from Consort Yue who disciplines her children from time to time and if they make mistakes she doesn't side with them.
That's why the Empress's children were either kind or spoiled like the supposed-to-be crown prince and the 5th princess in this video.
The supposed-to-be crown princes appoints officials based on who he knows or based on sympathy which shouldn't be done. He should choose officials who has skills and trustworthy enough for him not to be killed or betrayed, that's why Ling Buyi said that if he wasn't honest and loves the country, he could have uprised and betrayed the supposed-to-be crown prince and became the emperor instead because he knew all the in and outs of everything the crown prince does, internal and external affairs of the country.
At the later part, the Empress did knew that she spoiled her children too much but that's because she thought that, that's how it should be, and that's how she showed her love for them.
Anyways for the supposed to be crown prince part, it shows that people shouldn't be too kind at all times because even if it could be your strength, it could be one of your weakness too, worse your downfall.
She was channeling her inner Rongpei with that slap😂

Honestly the fifth princess having so much hate inside her after staying in a royal family it's not shocking...She saw her mother suffering because of her father's other women...Although his concubine is a great woman too and deserves respect...This scene also shows how hard women life was back in the days...
The thing is, Consort Yue was his legal wife long before he was forced to marry the Empress to claim the empire, and in turn his true love had to become a concubine. The 5th Prince came about because a servant climbed into his bed (probably wanted an easier life) when he was crazy drunk and he thought it was Consort Yue. It was actually the Empress who came later and disrupted his marriage, and Consort Yue who had to suffer her husband marrying another woman and losing wife status.
That slap was so hard the one earring fell off 🤣🤣🤣

However I wonder of what she spoke on behalf of her mother's feelings of being lonely and left while the Emperor always tends to his Consort, right. Because I feel like at that moment even if the Fifth Princess went far it was worth speaking up about it. It shows no matter how neglectful, greedy and arrogant she was, she observed her own mother loneliness.
the emperor also sleeps with empress..He do not ignore her or disrespect her..but of course he treats the Consort differently because he love her...

I have watched the entire show on rakuten no less then 15 times over the years. It is a great show, to me, except I did not really like her transformation towards the end. it wasn't that great but still I watch it again and again, my favorite was where her and her mothers slap the other mother and daughter. that was priceless. this fl is decisive and accurate with her vengeance. she was not raised with her parents and had to fend for herself. all the while had they educated her from beginning they would have realized just how brilliant she is. this 5th princess played her role so well. she was also the maid in the story of Ming Lan and plays that role well also. This is a timeless show. It was great when it first aired and is still going strong. FL is such a great actress and everything she plays in. my favorite character aside from fl was concubine yue. she was blunt, strong and kind all in one. she knew right from wrong no matter who was at fault. she cared not for what people thought about her and she stuck to her principles

This scene shows that things are getting really interesting in the imperial palace. Its good that Shaoshang used her wit to be within changqiu palace for the crimes to be exposed and her brains to 'punish' the fifth princess but I felt the punishment does not fit the crime. If only Shaoshang had told LBY about what happened am sure his payback would be much more severe than waste water and some twigs.
The slap from Consort Yue is very interesting (for those whom have not watched the previous episodes) I always thought the Consort of the imperial palace would take the sides of the royal children it is refreshing that this drama does not display such character.
This drama spins around the usual plots in so many ways! It's refreshing. And don't worry. His payback WILL be much more severe...
🌸 Keep watching! LBY has his own way of punishing the others. The Emperor wants the parents rebuked for not training their children properly, and LBY has an interesting way of doing that! 😮
