such an underrated tune, love this and "Someone's In The Wolf" off Lullabies
Yeah, those two songs are I think my favorite part from any of their albums.
Been a while since I've seen someone correctly using the word "underrated". All these hipsters calling stuff like Teen Spirit underrated xd
you have evil-y good taste, sir
I've been a fan of their first two and Songs For The Deaf since it came out, I only checked out this album a few months ago. I recently woke from a Rock music coma, where I have been dabbling in all sorts, and I cannot agree with you more. This album is their best imo.
Me exactly too. Those two songs in this set are perhaps the 2 most beautiful, hard, and lovingly strange and amazing QotSA performances ever caught on film.
If I could be someone else for 10 minutes, I'd be Joey playing this song.
What a beast. Same, imagine that feeling, better than being with the best chick u f'd lol. Better than walking out the front gates of maxo
I would trade those ten mins for when I looked at Jon Davis walk on the stage at Big Day Out in Sydney 1999. I was 16 hanging on the fence like a choke hold. The
guy could not believe the crowd they were stunned..... Then smiled and killed a version of "Its on" gives me the chills....
Joey Castillo plays the drums like a god damn maniac
I miss him so much
you miss him because he was a talented musician, let's face it. i think we all can respect his musicianship, but in his private life, God he was what you described rather aptly! though i think Schuman is still a very good and solid bass player for them too
rcraigm and I love it
He was perfect for qotsa, I loved the idea of Jon Theodore on drums since he was quite talented with mars Volta and one day as a lion, but his skills are wasted in villains, I can't hear the talent in this album.
Josh Fowler Joey was the drummer lol
Josh kills it with some of the vocals in this. Amazing song, best chord progression in any rock song imo
Josh is a legit genius thats why, dude has something different.
I really miss this era. Incredibly dark and personal song.
really. i was in high school while i listen them. i miss these days
Bruh when Homme starts doing the “Luhh-HOOOO”s it’s over. One of my favorite things he does with vocals
dude when he does it in 1 of the live versions of kalopsia i think it was, shit was over.
One of their best songs, can't believe it's so overlooked.. Just goes to show how good the catalog is. This riff is nasty and the way the vocals glide over it is unbelievable
this has got to be their best song. it's a shame a lot of people don't know about it because if they did, they'd love it and they'd play it live more nowadays instead of the normie songs
Lullabies is still my favorite album and this is part of why that is.
My man Alain Johannes on the bass.
He kills it, as well when he plays guitar too. I like him better than Michael Shuman but that's my opinion/preference.
He recently interviewed Ruban Nielsen from UMO and they made some really crazy sound together.
Alain is a badass--and a former chili pepper
theres a strange feeling about these dudes music whenever i hear it it feels like home
it feels like homme?
It feels like feeling fuzz in your shoulders.
it feels like a pulling or tugging, not in a gross way.
Yet man. I live in same strange town as you.
I keep coming back to this live version because there is no other one anywhere online
❤💯
I come here every now and then when my mind feels dark, my darkest year was 2014 but sometimes I remember those old days with nostalgia and this track was the soundtrack of that year and era, love forever Queens! 😈
If it wasn't for the darkness we'd never see the light 🖐️
Best track off that album and def one of their best over all. A+++
this is some of his most poetic and romantic writing ever. He is SUCH a good lyricist!
The guitars in this song are just so amazing
That's four guys? Four powerhouse musicians.
I just want to say that Josh Homme has the perfect voice, in my opinion. If I'd have to make love to a sound or voice, I'd make love to the sounds that come from Josh Homme. Seriously, his voice triggers something deep inside me.
ok
his hands too.
even after years I am still getting back to this gig and re-watching it. this is just pure epic of epicness.
Same here
Alain Johannes...super cool amongst super coolness... as usual
I fucking love this song. SO FUCKING GOOD
This song is so badass
love the upped tempo
This is the cut
god, joey is so awesome to watch ! Great track!
Beast. I'm a pro boxer and would be intimidated by that guy lol
The OG Joey Castillo 🔥🔥
love this, it sounds as if it is running down hill and the legs cant keep up
Guys your music helped me stay sane in the past. Thank You from my heart.
+Alison Sumner we must have SO MUCH in common then my new friend!! I love all their work, but every song of theirs relates to me someway or some how!! Peace))
Me too!
OMG. This is so F*cling Crazy. Let's Rock Yeah Yeah!
sanity is subjective but same :}
Joey is an goddamn beast!!!!
1:13 mood
epic fucking performance
This is why Joey was their best. Their least technical, definitely not as naturally skilled as Jon, Dave, or Fredo, but damn were his years unbelievable.
TABBYFINSTAH he is the perfect drummer for qotsa
What about Gene lmao
That was a beautiful moment
ohOhOhOhOhoHoH falsetto is a nice thing
God-mothafuckin-damn this was a perfect performance, thanks for sharing
Sounds like You're so vague, but like ten times better musically.
this is it
Love you Josh 💕 you are beautiful
Hey , i need some love too!
Troy’s guitar part makes the song.
I Like so much this Song. Play the F*cking Guitar Man!!! Let's Rock Till DD. Remember me my Cousin. +RIP. );
BOOOOOOOM
Josh homme is honestly such a beautiful man
God bless his parents for not being race mixers

Castillo is so sick on this track
He turns that outro into an absolute face melter
is it me or does the pace/timing picked up a bit in this love version but I much prefer it to the album version? I've seen them play this live but this performance is beyond the albums sound.
This happened a lot because of Joey Castillo's playing. He plays much faster live and gave the concerts a lot more energy because of it.
It’s because while I like him, Joey can’t keep time live. He rushes all fills and likes to play songs 10-20 bpm faster than all of QOTSAs other drummers.
Usually he just rushes unapologetically, but here he rushes then backs off then rushes again throughout the song
@@carwash9333 from Modern Drummer:
-MD: On the live DVD, “Song For The Dead” looks like boot camp training for drummers. It’s got Grohl’s parts-which are tough to play to start-plus a pretty involved arrangement and a drum solo over a vamp. By the end you look exhausted because the band is playing it a lot faster than on the album.
-Joey: Josh doesn’t like it to be one way. He likes to push, he likes to pull, and I have to be able to move with him. I can usually read his body language pretty well. “Song For The Dead” is very physical, and obviously you can see that. We’ve pulled tempos back since then, though it depends on how the band is feeling.
So there you have it, it was the whole band speeding up with Josh's musical direction lol

love.love.love.
still here
Fuckin yeahhhh love this shit. My cd broke so imma dl it to my phone
Buena rola
Rock de verdade ouvindo 2020
Joey good.
Qotsa in their prime
He didn't quite get the way the beat turns in on itself in the studio version.
Lots of energy though.
QOTSA go Sonic Youth
Nobody:
Joey: OKAY HULK PLAY FASTER
🩸🖤🩸
The live versions of Lullabies material are just so much more powerful than the album versions. I think production sucked some of the energy out of that album.
Everything is perfect here, except for the vocals, what is Josh doing?
If you listen closely he does the same thing in the studio version
@@dylanjaure not with the second part, his "open up your eyes" is higher
