Anybody willing to enlighten a confused fool? Watching this, I noticed that there are two of the big drums on the bottom (kick drums?) but the levers both go to the one on the right. So what the heck does the other one do?

Because it's practical and easier, during a long tour, to tune and use only one bass drum.

@ Kinda like that. It has also the scenographic function, to make the drum kit look more "metal". Of course in bands where there are more roadies working for the drummer, both of the bass drums are used. It's a matter of having people and time to deal with that.
