That's you on the slippery slope now, pretty soon you'll have fitted sound into your entire fleet.

I've used iPhone speakers for a year now on my decoder installs. You can't beat them for sound and space saving. Much better than anything Soundtraxx ever came up with and a lot cheaper.

I have 3 phones sitting here to take apart because I have read that they sound much better and you proved that they do, It sounds much better than in your video when you installed the other speaker.

If apple only new we were using there speakers on sound locos ,which probably cost millions to develop ,one up for the modeller ,nice video again..............tony

Apple ITrains, splendid idea Julian, considering IPhones and IPads have about a 5 year lifespan, Apple should be happy to recycle their speakers to the model railroad hobby.

    Hi
Great improvement, as you say the sound file probably isn't the best but it sounds half decent now.
My two Hunslet Barclay 20s both have tts fitted and I fitted the speakers in the nose, they may have been the smaller iPhone speaker.
Richard at Roads and Rails in the UK has been fitting double iPhone speakers to a few models which gives a really great sound.
You could tape up the speaker in black and possibly refit the fan on a piece of wire or plasti-card.
    Cheers Paul 👍

Hi Paul, black tape is probably a better method of hiding the silver, will give that a go. This particular Bachmann Class 20 never came with a fan so no issues there. I have a Class 37 I'll be installing an iPhone speaker in which does have the fan assembly so it will be interesting to see how that fits.

I just bought them off Trade Me (NZ auction website similar to ebay) but I imagine there would be plenty on ebay.

I can hear clicking noises. My experience is when you hear this sometimes it is cured by turning down the volume. Thanks for the video.

    Hi,
yes well you're hooked now and ready to join the rest of us using sounds on our layouts :) Regards the horn, have you gone through the rest of the horn sound files that come on the chip? You might find one you like better
    Cheers Peter

That's the other limitation for the SoundTraxx decoder, there only seems to be 3 horn sounds - high, low and 2 tone.

Is this an iPhone 6S+ speaker? Thanks for you attention.

I think I used a standard iPhone 6 speaker, I don't think it was a Plus speaker although not sure if there's any difference.
