    Oh man, I'm currently applying for PA school, and I gotta say, hearing that you researched the profession vs having an epiphany moment was a huge relief. One of the PAs I got a letter of rec from asked me how I knew I wanted to be a PA, and I felt almost ashamed that my response was that I researched the profession as opposed to having some major breakthrough. It's nice to know that my chances aren't necessarily ruined because of that. Thanks for the great content, and good luck in your career!

    Your personal statement is written so well! I just made a video about dental + medical school personal statements, it's interesting to see the parallels between the different types of personal statements!

    This was helpful, that you for sharing! I am on draft #3 of my statement to submit when CASPA opens in April!
    I will say, I feel like it is important not you use the word "I" too often. Even though the statement is about you. I've also heard that illustrating specific examples from your experience that show you are "organized, diligent, or determined" will better convey to the reader that you are in fact those things. Would you agree?

    • @JohnThePA
      @JohnThePA  3 года назад

      Yes, what's key is variation in sentence style, length and structure so the reader doesn't get bored. Obviously you can't avoid saying "I" in a personal statement, but you can minimize boring sentences that tell people things rather than SHOW them through examples.

    Your video really helps! I definitely found some ugly parts with mine lol. How many pages would you think is a fair amount for the committee to read? I had four pages, double spaced and I managed to reduce it to two pages. Because of that, I wrote two different personal statements. Would you be willing to read both and give me your feedback, if your time permits? Thank you!

    Great personal statement! Im a high school senior who is majoring in nursing and then going back to school for my PA or NP. When exactly should i get started on my extracurriculars? is it during college or during clinical hours? What extracurriculars do you recommend for PA school?

    John , I have a question please ..
    If I am 40 years old , I had studied chemistry, physics, and biology in my high school. Indeed, I had studied chemistry in my bachelor degree (historic preservation of monuments) .. I had associate degree in hotel and restaurant management from Wisconsin as well. I seriously like to join the PA program as this was my dream ( medicine faculty) .. do u think that I will be able to do it? I mean will all the above help me to join such a program?

    • @JohnThePA
      @JohnThePA  Год назад

      It depends on how long ago those courses were, as some programs have a 7-10 year expiration, and then you would have to redo prerequisites. The path of least resistance would be to sign up for community college courses and hit the books part-time if possible.

    Hi I have always wonder the hospital situation for PA. Do PA and RN have the same office to keep their thing or is it different?

    • @JohnThePA
      @JohnThePA  3 года назад +1

      It depends on your hospital. I share a space with the physicians while the nurses have their stuff in the staff lounge. Other places I've seen the PAs have office space with residents while the doctors would get their own office. I've also seen PAs get their own office space / staff lounge. And then I've seen nurses, PAs and docs share a space. There's no single setup.
