I feel the pain brother! I’ve lost a couple in my 52 years. It’s never easy. But the time heals, and the good memories are what sticks! Thanks for the lessons!
@@SpedSpedding I think it's more that you made me think about playing the blues scale in position 5, and straying into position 1 briefly for the b5 - hadn't thought of doing that before. Also, memorizing the fragment on strings 1-3 will help me escape position 1. Thank you!
Time spent with Sped is always time well spent. Same goes with time spent with a good family pet. So sorry for your loss there, Sped, and condolences to the rest of your family, too. No easy way through it. Time will do its thing but the process can be tough.
It will indeed. It’s a mixed bag right now. Just waiting for those emotion balls, both happy and sad to meld together as one. If you’ve seen inside out you’ll know. If you haven’t, I’ll sound insane. 😂✨

Alfie lived a life well loved, so I guess you can rest easy that he is happy in the afterlife. My cat's death was sort of same thing, having him around here for 17 years and we will always MISS him, terribly!!! It is a sad chapter in our lives, but to have them around as best friends is something of another color altogether!
I learn a LOT from all your lessons, but these “shorter” type lessons are pure gold! One can really put them into “play” immediately … the mood of your melancholy suits me on this rainy Saturday … losing our pets is painful, but at least we were given the opportunity to spoil them with our love while they ran upon this earth … Thank you for sharing.
That's it isn't it. You remember all the good times and especially the spoils. Sneaking a corner of your Gran's pie at Sunday dinner under the table etc. I'm stoked you like this kind of lesson, I will do more!
Beautiful as always and to mention Our Little Best Friend Alfie. Our hearts are broken but we will always remember the good time and that little face 🥰💔xxx

My friend - I know this was posted almost a year ago but I came across it today when I was looking for much inspiration from your channel. I am so sorry about Alfie - 15 years for a dog means he was well loved and cared…isn’t that what we all want and need? (aside from some tasty blues licks) Your apology however is not needed - he took an incredibly awful moment and put that into a lesson for us - not only for guitar but how to carry yourself gracefully at an incredibly difficult and sad time. Been there. It's around 20 years since we had to put our little pup down. He was 19 at the time. Still missing him. 😭 Thanks for the ideas and my condolences to you and your mom. 🙁
You're welcome Sped and thank you! Our pup was a mixed breed, he had some poodle, beagle and chihuahua. He was my buddy. I totally get that. It's difficult for me and Gab because we have been planning on getting our very own first dog together. Been to the local dog shows a couple of times to meet people etc and then this little tragedy. But we agreed that the time spent together outlays the grief. It kind of acted as preparation and a final test. "Are you sure?"
I would whole-heartedly agree with that. They'll bring you a lot of joy for sure. When my wife and I first got married, almost 39 years ago now (YIKES!) she wanted a dog, but I didn't (even though we had dogs when I was a kid). We were renting from my aunt at the time and I told my wife if she wanted a dog, she'd have to clear it with my aunt. Of course, my aunt having been an animal lover, said yes, so my wife went to a co-workers house and picked-up our little guy from the litter. Needless to type, I feel in love with him when she brought him home! 🙂 We took very good care of him, showed him a lot of love, so I like to think we gave him a good life, which is why I think he lived so long. Hang-in there, it gets better. Like the loss of a loved one, or anything you love really, you don't get over it, you learn to live with it. Ah it’s magic and music to my ears when people tell me how much use they’ve got out of my videos. I appreciate your kind words about Alf. Keep playing, always love it. The content is a pleasure. ❤️🔥
Hey man, I had to put my 11yr old Boston Terrier down 3 weeks ago, he was a little dude too. It’s been hard to play guitar since because he used to come and lay at my feet or on my pedalboard whenever I sat down to play and it’s weird without him there. I don’t know what my point is but stay strong, keep making videos and moving forward until you can look back and smile.
Bummer about the dog. My little dog sat and slept below my amps ( almost deaf) had to put him down a bit ago. He liked blues I’m GM btw. Blessings friend. The pain you feel is equal to the love you shared.
Such a hard thing to do. Last time I did it the Vet student looked so shocked as the tears streamed down my face . I don't think she had ever seen a grown man cry. Sorry for yours and your Mum's loss of Alfie. All the best Sped.
Yes it is. It might be the hardest thing for me. Well, our vet got a small human orchestra of tears. 5 of us. He was really nice as well actually. Must be a hard job. 🥺
@@SpedSpedding Vet's actually have a higher rate of suicide compared with the rest of society. I'm sure it's an incredibly hard thing to go through. My vet was with us from the first day we brought Winston in as a puppy to the day she had to tell me had cancer and it was too advanced for any treatment. I couldn't do that job.
Aww ! Its tough!!! I just got back from the vets with my dog , who is 9, a Staffordshire called Raife..and hes just been neutered, in a bid to shrink a grapefruit sized mass in his prostate. Hes wearing a baby gro...and he has such stoicism. He cryed when i went to get him from the vets. So i understand your sadness and pain. I came on here to learn some blues licks...as i feel fairly shitty for my poor boy! Sorry about your little buddy. Ive lost a few over the years too. I realise this is from a good few months ago..so i hope your find some peace and healing. Bless you Sped! 😔💕🌈
Thank you kindly Julian. Indeed. I don’t like to let my work slip even when life gets tough. I wanted to make sure I put a lesson out this weekend and this concert just kinda sprang to mind. 🙏🏻
Sped….my thoughts and prayers for you. I lost my two best buds (Charlie-Aussie) and Panzer -lab mix) and my father in the same week…..as u said…shit week But got a tat in their honor. My icon is my buddy Charlie. And ur right blues helps…..rocking out to In my time of dying….stay safe my friend, stay strong
Sorry to hear that Matt. That sounds incredibly painful and difficult. The tattoo is a strong way to honour. ✨ Hope you managed to enjoy the rest of the video and best to you and yours. 🙏🏻
Great lesson. The lick is very cool, but more importantly, you made me remember to look at things you are familiar with in a different way. I like that position but never looked at it that way. Really sorry to hear about Alfie.
Excellent lick! More of this please. Chin up! I've lost a couple of good boys, Alex and Gunner RIP. The house is full with 4 pups right now, Scruff-O, Maximus, Daisy and Maggie. Nobody can fully understand the meaning of love unless he's owned a dog.
Would absolutely love to be in that house right now. Me and Gab are off to a dog show this weekend as we are getting our own dog. It’s been planned for some time. It was like a final reminder “are you ready for this?” We are, they’re worth it. 🙏🏻
Sorry about Alfie man, dogs really are the best and it’s not fair that their lives are so short. My dog just turned 16 and she’s starting to have issues with arthritis and walking. I just love her up all the time not knowing how much more time I’ll have with her. You Still banged out a great lesson.
Wow, she’s a tough one. Clearly made of the same stuff as Alf! ✨ What breed? And thank you. Glad you liked the video. It’s a nice thing to work on over the weekend. 🙏🏻
@@SpedSpedding she’s a Havanese (sub breed of a Bichon). Always love your videos, especially the Zep ones. You do need to check out early UFO though, songs like Lights Out in London. Or Michael Schenker Group and like Armed and Ready. Great guitar riffs with some smoking leads.
I had to say goodbye to my dog in Sept of 2021 (he was only 10 - had bone cancer) and it was one of the top 5 worst days of my life. It was the right thing for him as we weren't going to let him suffer but the sadness was deep and profound. Hang in there!
Ahh Mike, I’m so sorry to hear that. I’d agree with you there. For me it’s the wave of guilt that’s currently eating me, we’ve done the most humane pain free thing but I feel like I’ve broken his trust. 🥺 I’ve read online it’s normal and just reinforces how much he meant to me. Part of the process. Thanks for the comment and support. ❤️🔥
@@SpedSpedding Right - I felt the same. Over time your head will win out (we did the right thing for him) but in the moment the emotions are very strong. We got a new puppy last year and he completed the healing process for us but I can still look at Winston's ashes and tear up sometimes. Give your mom a hug for me.
Sorry for your loss Sped and thanks for that little blues scale extension??? Many time I just sit and noddle in a particular scale and run out of room, or notes and it seems a bit repetitive after a few minutes. Thanks again.
Ahhh mate, i am in tears writing this, as this will be my last weekend with my beloved kelpie / Shepherd cross, Molly, that rotten C word. She lost her leg to it last September, we thought we got it, then had to remove a mass in her mouth right at new year. She has all but stopped eating, yet the fire is still in her eyes. Bloody worst feeling ever mate. I have lost so very many, so i know that feeling mate, trouble is our best mates are unconditional, unlike humans, just remember, there are so many out there that need desperately what you can give, as the pain subsides, give another a loving home, it's not replacing, that is impossible, its just giving back. I feel for you mate!
Oh man, that’s so tough. My condolences to you too. I understand what you mean and where you’re at, especially with the fire in the eyes even though they’re sick. That’s what dogs do, give us 100% at all times. I hope you have a wonderful weekend together. ❤️🔥🥺
I'm so sorry! I had 3 labs die in about a year and a half. It was so hard! Right when I would start feeling a little better, another one would pass. Then, a year later, we lost our 4 year old cat due to a shitty emergency overnight vet. It's a long story. The worst part, though, was having to tell my 5, then 6 year old daughter each time... To say it all took a toll on me is a massive understatement! I don't know if I'll ever be able to get attached to another pet..... Again, I'm so sorry for your loss!
Aw man, that’s brutal. So sorry to hear that! I can’t even begin to imagine the toll. I hope you and your daughter managed to find some peace together. 🙏🏻✨
Sped, great lesson as always. Thanks. Very sorry to hear about Alfie. I know too well how much it hurts to loose a dog, as they are part of the family. We had a dog named Heartbreaker (not named after the song). He was so handsome the breeder said “he’s a Heartbreaker” and the name stuck (though we usually called him Breaker). He passed 9 years ago and is still missed. My thoughts are with you and you family.
Many thanks David. What a cool name for a dog, Zeppelin aside like you said. It shortens nice too, he sounds very special. 🐾 Glad you enjoyed the lesson and found it useful.
Hang tough Sped, from your Texas family. We lost our Winnie after 18 years. Not easy. As always, thanks for the lesson but... take care of you and mum for now. 🙏
It’s heartbreaking isn’t it. They’re family. I haven’t lived with him for some time now but he would always greet me like that photo and say goodbye. Very British. 😂❤️ He will be missed.
Great to hear you play some blues again, it's been too long, though sorry to hear the motivation. Freddie asked to me to say "Arf!!" for him. My older sister's boyfriend taught me that scale in the first position nearly 50 years ago and it's been 90% of everything I've played since. Must start to widen my horizons with position 2. I'm guessing you wanted to use 'Seamus' for the outro music, but would have been hit by the dreaded algorithm monster. That choice was in the same mood though.
Thanks Kit! 🐾 And yeah like I said you really can have an abundance of fun in position one. So many incredible solos and riffs have been carved out of it. I’d call this position five though as I always number them ascending from one. Have you seen this old video? It’ll link back to patreon too. ruclips.net/video/lG0WIoNvwf0/видео.html
That’s a gorgeous Les Paul Sped - and beautiful playing as usual. What can you tell up about the LP (I suspect you’re going to tell me you’ve already done a video on it!) 😊
Haha, there is a video in n me putting the pickups in it where I talk about it a little more. I could do an updated video. Search 57 PAF from The Buzztone on my channel. 🤘🏻
Thanks Chris. Glad you enjoyed my spin. Also, keep at it. Whack a slow metronome on too to give you that 6/8 measure you’ll need for it to sound right.
Hey Sped, just a thought, but given this sad time, how about a lesson on a Cat Stevens song that seems appropriate, I Love My Dog. Would be greatly appreciated,.
Hi Sped, I have a JRT just turned 10 and I will be devastated when she (Maggie) departs the parish. I’ll compose a Brahma of a blues song the day after it happens. So please accept my most sincere condolences on your tragic loss.
A month later. Very sorry for your familys loss. Somehow that first riff that came after you mentioned your week... "ALFIE'S SUITE" might have a song there. Again, they are not just pets. They are family.
Sorry to hear the news about Alfie , 15 years is a long time to be in your life and it will take time for the sadness to fade and be replaced by the happier times that the 15 years brought, it won't be long and you'll be back to your endearing 'sarcastic' self that we tune in for 😅, oh and the secondary guitar stuff 😉
Well I have updated my bio to “full-time comedian, part-time musician.” Seems only fitting the way the channel has gone. I might just upload a stand up routine one week. No guitar. You poor poor people. 🤣 Thanks for the condolences as well. ❤️🔥

You’re welcome Michael. And thank you. 🙏🏻
Nothin' better than the Blues when you have the blues. Another nice upload.
You got that right! Thanks
Bummer about the dog. My little dog sat and slept below my amps ( almost deaf) had to put him down a bit ago. He liked blues I’m GM btw. Blessings friend. The pain you feel is equal to the love you shared.
Right on Brother
Appreciated! 🙌🏻
I learned this position playing a lot of grant green licks. Come to really love it. Thanks for sharing
Great to hear! I’m not familiar but yeah, it’s a really fun shape.
Sped, You are so amazing. You make everything sound so good and luscious!!! Thank you for the lesson!!!
Thanks so much! That’s really awesome and as always it’s a pleasure.
@@SpedSpedding I am joining your Patreon channel this weekend. I should have done it long ago. I am sorry.
Thanks for such a lovely comment! Hope your buddy feels better soon. Yeah we’ve found some peace after what happened bless his little head.
You are very welcome!😁 Thanks for the lessons. Keep up the good work! 👍❤️
Lovely vid mate
Glad you enjoyed it mate. Sneaky little duet. 😏❤️
Wishing you a little sunshine. Keep on rocking.
Thanks, you too!
Sorry to hear of Alfies passing, a nice blues breakdown is a fitting tribute for the little fella.❤
Thank you kindly Julian. Indeed. I don’t like to let my work slip even when life gets tough. I wanted to make sure I put a lesson out this weekend and this concert just kinda sprang to mind. 🙏🏻
Sped….my thoughts and prayers for you. I lost my two best buds (Charlie-Aussie) and Panzer -lab mix) and my father in the same week…..as u said…shit week
But got a tat in their honor.
Excellent stuff !!! 👌 God Bless little Alfie 😢🐶❤️🐶
Great lick! Fun to play. Thanks so much!
You're welcome Mikey!
Please accept my sincere condolences Sped on the loss of Alfie. Sad day indeed.
Thank you George! Appreciate you. 🙏🏻✨
Awesome I love learning stuff!! Thank you
My pleasure!
Nice tone on your Paul. Nice phrasing.
Condolences Sped. Godspeed Alfie.
Thanks you! In his prime I reckon he could have beaten a Tesla off the line. ❤️😂
Sorry for your loss Sped and thanks for that little blues scale extension??? Many time I just sit and noddle in a particular scale and run out of room, or notes and it seems a bit repetitive after a few minutes. Thanks again.
You’ve got the whole fretboard waiting for you. Have fun with this neighbouring shape. 🙌🏻
Sorry for your loss. My Collie passed away a few months ago. Love your playing
Really sorry to hear about your Collie. Gab’s family lost theirs recently too. Very sad. 🙏🏻
@@SpedSpedding thanks. Hang in there. I do have a frisbee crazed BorderCollie that keeps me busy when I am not playing guitar. 👍
Thanks Sped. ❤
You're welcome 😊
I know why Im a patreon subscriber!!!
🤩 why?
O, mate 😢 Had to put down Mt miniature schnauzer, Angus, a long time ago, and, man? I _still_ miss him, terribly.
Love the tone.
Thank you!
Bless the Pup, the Pup shall always pull us through.
Thanks Sped
My pleasure!
@@SpedSpedding thanks Sped and hang in there!
Thanks Sped, been there with my dogs over the years.. your contributions are the best start of my weekend!
It’s the worst feeling isn’t it.
Thank you for watching!
I am always interested in how you obtain the exact sound of the guitarist you are demonstrating. Your advice on best way forward would be great.
Your the homie man rip to your pal ❤
Thanks so much friend!
Get another pup as soon as you feel it. Shelters have plenty just waiting to be your most loyal friend. Best wishes.
I'm so sorry to hear about the passing of your mom's dog. May God bless you all during this time of sorrow.
That’s very kind, thank you! 🙏🏻
Thank you for this
No problem 🤘🏻
Im back, thank you again. I had let this one lapse.
My condolences on alphie
I like this kinda thing 🥲
Me too John. Something fun for the weekend. 🙌🏻
@@SpedSpedding thanks Sped!
Condolences from me and my old buddy T-Bone. We were out walking when I saw the notification pop up on my phone. 😢
Aw bless and thanks to you both. Take the long way around today! 🐾 🦴
Absolutely feel for you Sped💯❤️🩹. Know that feeling all too well🥲
Love your take on Sophie’s solo 👌👏👏
Superb tutorial Thanks for sharing 👍😎
Thanks Chris. Glad you enjoyed my spin. Also, keep at it. Whack a slow metronome on too to give you that 6/8 measure you’ll need for it to sound right.
Sorry about the loss brother, I've been there.
Thank you friend. 🙏🏻
I was recommended to you about 1 hour ago, and here you are with a new vid, so here I am. Sorry for the pet. 1 sub added.
How lovely is that. An algorithmic recommendation or a friend? Glad I managed to give you something to peruse over during the weekend. 🙏🏻
By a friend on a Live Stream of Corey Heuvel, (he is awesome )
cool thanks!
No problem!
Sorry about Alfie Sped! Man, what are you playing through please?? Best tone ever.
Thank you! Means a lot. I’m gonna be making videos about my setup and tone. 🦴🙏🏻
Sorry about the loss of your Pup. Hang in there.
Sorry for your loss, mate...
Thank you! 🙌🏻✨
Hey Sped, just a thought, but given this sad time, how about a lesson on a Cat Stevens song that seems appropriate, I Love My Dog. Would be greatly appreciated,.
Don't reckon I'd make it through that just yet man.
@@SpedSpedding yeah, i understand, wish to bloody hell i didnt mate.
Great vídeo!!
Thank you David!
Hey mate, just wondering how you are doing now after the loss of your family member? Hope all are OK!
Hi Sped, I have a JRT just turned 10 and I will be devastated when she (Maggie) departs the parish. I’ll compose a Brahma of a blues song the day after it happens. So please accept my most sincere condolences on your tragic loss.
I'm sorry about your Mom's dog. Great information in B. Thank you. 👍
Thank you! And stoked you enjoyed the lesson.
I think there is a Black Sabbath riff there somewhere?
Very sorry to hear about your pet...I know the feeling.
May Alfie RIP brother.
Thanks. 🥺❤️
A month later. Very sorry for your familys loss. Somehow that first riff that came after you mentioned your week...
"ALFIE'S SUITE"
might have a song there.
Again, they are not just pets. They are family.
Sorry for your loss mate...write a song about Alfie through your guitar ....i did when i lost mine.
Sorry brother, I’m always amazed at how much that can hurt. I understand and hope the music helps you out!
I always turn to my guitar in times of crisis. It's always a pleasant reminder just how much that means to me as well. Thanks.
I'm stealing every bit of this! thanks a ton for making us all better. much appreciated.
Have fun Tom!
Thanks for the condolences as well. ❤️🔥
@@SpedSpedding , well it didn't do Billy Connoly any harm 😅
Keep 'em coming Sped 🙏😎
