No one is printing money rich. Its the Dodgers fanbase (me) willfully willing to pay 20 dollars a beer to pay the players we want. Bring on the championships baby.
The hypocrisy is “rich”. I’m sure Rich didn’t think it was a problem and wasn’t whining and complaining in 2009 when the Yankees payroll lapped all other teams ($201M), was 35% larger than the second highest payroll (Mets at $149M), was 2.3 times the league average ($88.5M), and was more than 5 times the lowest payroll that year (Marlins at $37M). Rich’s team rolled out the cash for all the top players- ARod, Teixeira, Sabathia, AJ Burnett, Johnny Damon, Hideki Matsui, etc. I’m sure he was saying how unfair it was that his Yankees were dominating the market. Right? Right?
That’s a rich take from a Yankee fan who used to buy up players like Giambi, Damon, Clemons, Sabathia, and Rodriguez, Jeter, Rivera…..I can go on and on and on.
Those who says Ohtani won't be pitching doesnt understand him. His last remaining goal among his infamous list from high school days is to win a CY award. He won't stop pitching until he achieve CY award while his arm can.
It’s OPEN TO EVERYONE TO DEFER MONEY! The players are attracted to The Dodgers and willingly defer money to join them. It’s not like they were force to by gunpoint. So Why don’t other owners do it. Or is it that their players are not willing to? Maybe players coming to the Dodgers are not all about money but want to play there coz of the great club and iconic teammates..? 😂 Don’t believe Yankees (or their fans) care a hoot about other teams welfare 😂 Just the players coming to Yankees are not as much for their team but for themselves!
I agree. The weather is great, too. And you have a good chance to be in WS. Just about the whole Japan is now Dodgers fan, and they will know your name, too. There is a lot of other incentives than money.
Fans reward owners with regular high attendance, revenue, owners reward fans with a great product. The problem is the owners who pocket the $ and don’t reward their fans.
Whats funny , Before Snell signed with the Giants last year. He was looking for a longterm deal and no one wanted to offer him the contract. Even the 182 mill right now. Teams didn’t wanna give it to him but all of a sudden Dodgers said ok we’ll give u a long term contract. Everyone is up and arms about it. There were plenty of times other Teams could have signed him but they didn’t...Also, Deffered contract is not exclusive to Dodgers. All MLB teams can do the same,. Actaully deffered contracts has been happening for more than 30 yrs. that's why there was a Bobby Bonilla contract.

I can understand why top players might not want to go to a team like Pittsburgh or the Angels even if the money is as good, because there's not the same chance of winning as with the Dodgers. But the owners and management of those teams in smaller markets have to be able to compete by paying what it takes. The Ohtani contract was a gift by Shohei, allowing the Dodgers to sign Yamamoto, Glasnow and others. How many players are willing to defer 90% of their salary for 10 years? My main gripe with the Dodgers is their ticket prices for the games. They charge way too much while saying how much they love their devoted fans.
Hey Eisen....did you have a problem when the Yankees made 4 straight World Series, had the highest payroll in baseball and then went out and got the AL MVP Jason Giambi from the A's for the 2002 season......STOP IT Just a bunch of whining and copium for the simple fact that the Dodgers are the best and the rest of the teams have to suck it
“The Yankees don’t spend like the dodgers…not even the Mets spend like the dodgers.” What’s stopping them? Nothing. Don’t forget, the dodgers will have Sasaki soon too 😉 Love your show, but as you’ve acknowledged (and commenters noted), ‘woe is us’ coming from a yankee fan is so far beyond ironic. It’s just sour grapes. You had the 90s early 00s, now it’s the dodgers’ turn.
btw...the statement that the Mets and Yankees dont spend like the Dodgers is not correct. Go look at the 2024 payrolls. Dodgers were 3rd in the league behind the Mets and Yankees. The only difference is the Ohtani deferrals and Dodgers location. Most foreigners will prefer to live in LA than NYC because of weather. Cant compete with that. When Soto signs with a NY team that team will continue to have a bigger payroll than the Dodgers.
The New York Mets have the highest payroll in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the 2024 season, with a total payroll of $314,748,899: Mets: $314,748,899 New York Yankees: $308,574,607 Houston Astros: $255,271,371 Philadelphia Phillies: $246,299,605 Other teams with high payrolls include: Los Angeles Dodgers: $249,823,654
If Yankees fans are complaining about us .Maybe you should sell and buy a Triple AAA team . The Steinbrenner's are like the Lakers a mom-and-pop Store !
If the Dodgers account of it is true, it’s Ohtahni and his management team idea to defer his whole contract. It’s Ohtahni that wanted it that way because he wanted the Dodgers to commit to spend on other players. The Dodgers really ran into some good fortune here because Otahni is a marketing money maker who is now famous world wide that 700 million is an outright bargain for his rights. ………the big issue with other clubs offering players deferred money is that other players are not like Ohtahni who can make more money from marketing deals than their actual mlb contracts, so almost no one else is going to defer the percentage of their contract Otahni did.
Snell has been a Dodger killer most of his career, so the KD comparison doesn't work. Deferrals are not new, just ask Bobby Bonilla. Rich Is just salty. The 20th century belonged to the Yankees and the 21st century belongs to the Dodgers!! Go Dodgers!!
“… you don’t have to pay the Pirates anything.” … 🤷🏻♂️ Pittsburgh ownership would just pocket that money anyway. They won’t even invest the money in the stadium, much less the team
The Dodgers spend their money wisely and focus on ROI when investing in these high quality players, unlike other teams like for example the Angels who spend stupidly (Pujols, Hamilton, etc.). The issue is the other owners not putting out a decent product and then whining about the big spenders while accepting all that money big market teams brings in.
Did everyone forget about the Angels? They’ve been. Spending money left and right since Pujols! Tons of money! Look where that got them. The Dodgers are just a LOT smarter and much better run and managed than any other ball club.
Padres, Yankees, Phillies, Mets, Astros, Rangers, Braves, Jays have all been spending. Cubs and Red Sox could spend, but haven’t lately. Rich needs to bring some facts to calm his hysterics
Parity is fun sometimes, but sometimes we need Godzillas. I want to see a team win 130 games. Let's do it! I want to see a team lay absolute waste to the rest of the league.
When Frank McCourt owned the Dodgers, nobody complained about the Dodgers. A better ownership and management group takes over, they still didn’t win immediately, media criticized AND continue to do so, the 2020 Championship. They finally win a “legitimate” championship, and now it’s scary hours and pundits are complaining. Ask better from your teams. lol how about a Salary FLOOR, so cheap owner have to spend and pretend to be competitive. Instead of pocketing money from the fans and not trying to compete.
Who is stopping Yankees to go out and get Juan Soto, Rich ! Don’t whine because Dodgers are taking risk and signing Snell. Yankees had the same chance to Snell as Dodgers. It’s just they decided not to spend money on Snell. Stop whining, Rich !
The Dodgers Ownership knows how to make money. That's what they do ! They made over 100 million on Ohtani just this season ! So the 700 million isn't 💩 over 10 years. If the rest of the league wants to catch up they got to invest & reinvest it's profits 100% back to the team. Why don't the NY teams do this 🤔 they got the revenue Chicago has it too. Players like Ohtani is a investment as well as a Money Printer on what you can make off him globally 🤔👍

Where’s the same energy when the same happens in Kansas City with the Chiefs with players taking a pay-cut to join a winning team??
nobody's twisting Snell's arm to sign with Dodgers, or to do deferrals.
I’m tired of hearing every one complain, not just online but my friends and family who aren’t Dodger fans. Someone up there in MLB said all 30 teams are billionaires, if they don’t want to spend that’s on them.
Certain fans complaining that their team’s ownership doesn’t want to spend money on players. Everyone complaining that the Dodgers are spending money on players. Make it make sense.
Didn't hear Rich complain when the Dodgers only had three starting pitchers in the World Series to go with. With all the Starter injuries every year you need several arms late in the season and post season!! Why didn't the Yankees sign Blake, they had a chance....
Yankees payroll was double the second highest payroll from 2005-2009 i will continue to bathe in Yankee tears
Yankees did the same in the 90’s. I would know because I lived in NYC and followed the Dynasty. I had so much fun enjoying that era. I’m certainly not gonna complain when Dodgers are the ones doing it now. I’m just gonna enjoy the show as a fan and thank Dodger owners for willing to spend. 🎉
I appreciate your comment. Im a long time dodger fan and I loved watching the Yankee games because of the players they had. I always said I wish my Dodgers would do the same as the Yankees spend money to get exciting players to watch. Much respect to you and good luck to the Yankees on reloading this year
The last fanbase on earth who should be opening their mouth on this subject are Yankee fans.
Not really. Name me the high paid FA's on the Yankees 1996 -2001 teams. Let me name the guys who came up from their farm system. Jeter, Posada, Pettitte, Rivera and Bernie Williams. Guys like Paul O'Neill, Tino Martinez and Chuck Knoblach were acquired in trades.
Rich, the Yankees also did this years ago. How were you feeling at that time? Good? Bad? Go Dodgers!
No one is printing money rich. Its the Dodgers fanbase (me) willfully willing to pay 20 dollars a beer to pay the players we want. Bring on the championships baby.
Well said. I don't mind spending more money at dodger stadium because the product on the field is fun to watch.
As a Braves fan, I'm not mad. Money doesn't buy championships. You still have to win games.
Right? Right?
It's only a problem when it's not Steinbrenner 😂
Don’t be hating Rich, you’re just jealous your Stankees didn’t get him 😆😝
That’s a rich take from a Yankee fan who used to buy up players like Giambi, Damon, Clemons, Sabathia, and Rodriguez, Jeter, Rivera…..I can go on and on and on.
Oh stop it rich. Like everyone here says you probably didn’t say a damn thing when the Yankees did it in the 90’s and 2000’s.
The Dodgers are the premier franchise in MLB surpassing the Yankees and it makes them sick. Lol
Rich: There are good problems, and there are bad problems. For Dodgers & MLB = Good problems. You and others: Bad problems. That's life!
Well you ain’t going to win the World Series next year so spend away
Don’t believe Yankees (or their fans) care a hoot about other teams welfare 😂
Just the players coming to Yankees are not as much for their team but for themselves!
I'm sure you had no problem back when George Steinbrenner kept accumulating talent and World Series trophies. Go Dodgers!
Dude never had an issue when “his” Yankees signed Mussina, Texiera, Giambi. 🤡
It wouldn't be a problem if the Yankees would be smart enough to pull this out, Go Dodgers baby hate us cause you ain't us
you won your first real World Series since 1988 , The Covid one didn’t count. Congrats but you’ll get eliminated in typical fashion. Like you almost did with the Padres
@@GiantsJets718 someone hating cause now 2024 proves 2020 is good soooooo
@@MatthewVasquez-x9s you can keep that, covid season 🤣 Just like the astros are legit champa after finding out they cheated, da nile is not just a river
Imagine having 3 billion dollars more than the dodgers, generating 130 million more revenue in 2024 than the dodgers and complaining about not spending like they are. Screw a salary cap. Don’t blame the dodgers, blame your teams managers for not investing or attracting to investors to your ball club 💀 💀
What a boomer take from a Yankee fan of all people. This is literally insane to hear someone smart like rich eisen saying this.
Eisen is a Yankees fan. What a joke
Hater's gonna hate
I'm finding it hard to believe that the other teams let the Dodgers sign Snell
Blame ur Yankees!! They did it first and now the Mets & Dodgers are spending big time
I can understand why top players might not want to go to a team like Pittsburgh or the Angels even if the money is as good, because there's not the same chance of winning as with the Dodgers.
Hey Eisen....did you have a problem when the Yankees made 4 straight World Series, had the highest payroll in baseball and then went out and got the AL MVP Jason Giambi from the A's for the 2002 season......STOP IT
Just a bunch of whining and copium for the simple fact that the Dodgers are the best and the rest of the teams have to suck it
“The Yankees don’t spend like the dodgers…not even the Mets spend like the dodgers.”
What’s stopping them? Nothing.
Don’t forget, the dodgers will have Sasaki soon too 😉
Love your show, but as you’ve acknowledged (and commenters noted), ‘woe is us’ coming from a yankee fan is so far beyond ironic.
The New York Mets have the highest payroll in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the 2024 season, with a total payroll of $314,748,899:
Mets: $314,748,899
New York Yankees: $308,574,607
Houston Astros: $255,271,371
Philadelphia Phillies: $246,299,605
Other teams with high payrolls include:
Los Angeles Dodgers: $249,823,654
The nerve of this guy complaining as a Yankee fan is remarkable 🤣
Forget the 90’s. If the Yankees signed Juan Soto and Blake Snell, he’d call it good business. What a hypocrite
Also, the Mets still had the larger payroll last year. So did the Padres? The Dodgers were 3rd I believe.
Why is it so hard for Brockman to understand that Ohtani WANTS TO PITCH? He does just want to bat and run the bases. He likes pitching. End of story.
You mean the Yankees fan is upset the Dodgers have owners willing to do the same thing they did to be successful in the 90s and 00s.
Don't forget Roque Sasaki
Blames the owners not the dodgers.
The hypocrisy is hilarious! If his Yankees were doing this as they did for decades he'd revel in it. Go Dodgers!
Rich, the next Dodgers signing won't be a big money deal - Roki Sasaki. Will that make you feel better???
Don’t worry Mr. Eisen they’re not finished yet. More all stars on the way. 😊
Stop it Rich. Great teams are never a problem in any league. Everyone hates them, if they dont win is the end of the world. And is not your team
Where were all the complaints when the Yankees got all the superstars and won multiple championships in the 90s. The hypocrisy of all these whiners
Rich is a clown...wasnt a problem when Yankees where doin this for the last two decades shadup
They’re just filling their pitching holes, Kershaw is on his way out in a year or so need a stud to replace!
Mets had bigger payroll last year. And this has been done for along time. Griffey was the 4th highest paid player last year on the Reds.
Now say it again without crying Richie 😢
Did everyone forget about the Angels? They’ve been. Spending money left and right since Pujols! Tons of money! Look where that got them. The Dodgers are just a LOT smarter and much better run and managed than any other ball club.
Padres, Yankees, Phillies, Mets, Astros, Rangers, Braves, Jays have all been spending. Cubs and Red Sox could spend, but haven’t lately. Rich needs to bring some facts to calm his hysterics
It's called capitalism. Dodgers are smart. They are making money. They can afford it.
Funny, I never heard Rich complaining about this when the Yankees were doing this. It's only a problem when teams not named the Yankees are doing it.
Bobby Bonilla and others have deferred their salary. Ohtani was not the first. Bonilla is being paid until 2035!!
Lol. This is funny as hell coming and surprising coming from this guy. Cry me a river Rich. 😅😅😅
Rich complaining about out of control spending as his Yankees offer Soto $700m for 15 years😂🙄
Ohtani's 97% salary deferral was a game changer. Also, you're forgetting Roki Sasaki whom they're gonna get for like $2.5 million 😂
Chill...we may not get Roki 🙂
Rich cry me a river your Yankee bias is showing!
That’s rich coming from a Yankee fan. Oh the irony. All teams have money they just cry poor so they can pocket it
C'mon Rich! Your boy Steinbrenner did it for years!
turning every dodgers player into bobby bonilla day
Parity is fun sometimes, but sometimes we need Godzillas. I want to see a team win 130 games. Let's do it! I want to see a team lay absolute waste to the rest of the league.
Uhhh, isn’t that what the Yankees did every year in the nineties? And I just read every post saying the same thing.
Your tears only fuel us. 😂
Rich coming from Rich.
Boo freakin’ hoo, Rich. The Dodgers are not only better on the field, but they’re smarter in the front office. When you finish crying, study and learn.
Bunch of cry babies. Ridiculous still crying about the dodgers. Im going to contact Kleenex and have them sponsor this channel. Rich wasnt complaining in the 90's.
