this is new to me and i am going to invest in it... so exciting! i love yours Matt. great job............. and that was so generous of them to send all that glass to you,,, how nice.
The little black spots on the clear glass is called frit. Frit comes in difference coarseness from fine to pieces that look like tiny pebbles. It smooths out when it's been fired in the kiln. Also, you can use fine fire paper over the thick fire paper; the thin fire paper makes the thick fire paper last longer than three or four firings.
Matt you are so cute in your way and just such a blessing. I really enjoy your art work videos, you have such great talent so thank you. You are a kind soul that brings joy. 😊
Wow the glass come really beautiful, love them. I love watching your tutorials, i learn & laugh at the same time, you're great. Irma and her husband are really nice for sending you the glass pieces.
You may already know this, but if not. . . if there is a shop close to you that makes custom pieces, some of them will sell boxes of scraps reasonable. It may be worth checking in to. They may have some you can pick thru also.
Great glass haul! Maybe you already know this, but there are glass scoring blades that you can use to make a shape on your glass, then the nippers will nip right on the score line, giving you control of where the glass breaks. I learned this in stained glass class. Fun, unique cabochans -- good job!
I seriously need to get this microwave kiln... I've been wanting to work with glass for awhile.. Matt it's all your fault the money I'm going to spend on this journey that I've been wanting to do but couldn't but can know cuz you told me bout the kiln. 😅😅😊😊😊
Black speckles are bugs. Maybe. Not. I used to do stained three D glass art pieces. Not melted---constructed with copper foil and solder and all sorts of bracing. It was said then that the red glass was more expensive because it required real gold silica to make it. I don't know if that still holds true, but I've always loved the reds. OOOOH, GOGGLES MATT! GOGGLES! Also invest in a glass grinder! You won't live long enough to grind all those edges by hand!
When you were putting the black, purple and blue over the clear with specks, I wondered if it might not be too many to get a full effect from it all...perhaps sometimes 'less is more' when you have a special effect you want to take advantage of? Just a thought. I do like what you have done/are doing. Until I watched the videos you are making, I never heard of a microwave kiln. Amazed at what you can do with them. I would love trying to do some with recycled glass myself. How does one find out what the numbers for the glass are? I followed a link to Amazon to find a kiln. You're right, they aren't terribly expensive...pretty neat. Perhaps a cottage business I could get into at some point, when the economy gets a bit better...thanks for the video, the information. I had fun watching it. Blessings to you, sir.
If you have a hobby lobby store in your area they sell glass for making beads, glass blowing and stained glass artists. I am not sure about the cost but it may be cheaper for you.
I think so but I'm not an expert on all glass. I have done it with approved glass that has the same specs and I've also done it with just a random pile of different colored broken bottle pieces. They seemed to both be fine.
I’m in need of seed beads, size ll/0 mostly but anything would be helpful does anyone have anything to do beading they aren’t using? I’m just starting out and I hate investing the money on something I’m just starting out in. I’m hoping to pick it up as a hobby.

Hey Matt they say if you cut some aluminum foil with dull scissors it will make them sharp like new again... I haven't tried it but it's worth a shot.

Send that nice lady back a gift certificate and a thank you card. It's the thought that counts. What a nice lady!
You've got that right!

The green and blue striped one is my favorite. I'm going to watch again, maybe I missed you saying how you did it?
I’d so love to have learned how to work with glass but I don’t feel like it will be in this lifetime, maybe in the next!
I have the kiln in my Amazon wishlist for so long as I want to do ceramic pieces in it.😶 thanks for giving us information on how to use it.
Awesomeness 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Out since the 80's...I have mine that long...
Irma what a friend you are!!!
Can you use earthenware?
Save your little pieces. Very little....it is called frit andd if you pile it up it makes beautiful stuff
Looking forward to seeing what you do with all of that glass!
Thanks Matt !
Can you use any microwave and glass as long as glass is same kind and cool town time
I think so but I'm not an expert on all glass.
I have done it with approved glass that has the same specs and I've also done it with just a random pile of different colored broken bottle pieces. They seemed to both be fine.
Just don’t use your regular dinner microwave, try and pickup a second microwave from a garage sale or second hand shop
Is this glass the same glass that's used in stained glass?
Any and all glass can be used in stained glass because stained glass doesn't require melting, only cutting and building a frame around it.
Get a sandwich sheet of aluminum foil and cut the foil with dull scissors into small strips to sharpen your scissors
So cool- 👍🏼🤩💛

Your Description doesn't go over anything....not even links or information about your materials!!!
Жаль, я не знаю по английски. Но с удовольствием смотрю. Очень интересно. 😊🍀
