This is a very good video on sighting in and point blank range. Great presentation. In addition, when you sight your rifle in make sure you have enough ammo in the locker to make it through the season. But if you have to change ammos during the season you must resight your rifle for the new ammo. It's been my experience that point of impact will change if you change ammo.
Great point about the ammo change. I recently acquired a heavy barreled Savage in .17 HMR. I sighted it in at 50 yards with CCI ammo. Groups were 5/8” - not good. Changed to Hornady ammo and the point of impact went 1 ¾” to the right, almost dead center of my next target. I thought I had aimed at the wrong target. Now sighted in with Hornady and consistently shoots 3/8” groups. CCI will now hit 1 ¾” left. I would never have believed that, especially at 50 yards, and out of a heavy barrel. Thanks for watching!
Here’s what we know for sure, a zero is just a place holder when the target could appear at a distance other than the zeroed distance. So, after zeroing produce a range card off trajectory calculation from app to accommodate bullet drop compensation need from elevation hold or adjustment.
These charts also show you how limiting it is to use subsonic .22LR rounds. They drop off quickly. Just one thing-would have been good to hear a discussion like this integrated with various choices for MOA rails. Just a suggestion.
Not sure if I understand your situation or not. If your point-of-impact is 2” low at 40 yards, your bullet will probably never get up to your line of sight. If your point-of-impact is 2” high at 40 yards, your far zero would be about 90 yards (based on the CCI mini-mag 36 gr hollow point). I hope that helps. Thanks for watching!
We only have fox squirrels where I live. We prepare them many ways. Young ones get grilled or pan-fried with red-eye gravy. The older ones get cooked until tender, then used several different ways. Our favorite is squirrel-fried rice. Thanks for watching!
Great job on this video. Ballistics for dummies. Great information.

“This is not rocket science, it’s simple ballistics.” That’s awesome, I’m hooked. Sub’d.
Thanks!
Thank you, for taking the trouble to explain. Cheers.
Glad to help. Thanks for watching.

I use 25/50. It works for me. I can use the knobs for 100-200.
Excellent 👌
If my zero is 2" low at 40 yards would my point blank hold be more like out to 65-70 yards?

JW, What kind of squirrels and What's your favorite squirrel recipe?
