That "You guys go on without me" is to cry for ages.
How could we?
same feeling as "I was right there but none of you could see me"
episode 6. So many emotions.
The clockwork ghost is ok. If ghosts live rent-free in my house, least thing I would expect is they repair stuff, maybe some cleaning too, make yourselfes useful dudes!
This was the most german thing 😂
I could never blame Hugh for what he did. He shoved her into a wall because he just walked in on her trying to kill three kids (succeeding with one), then he left her because obviously his objective at the moment was to save the children from her and he was only one person responsible for five of them. He went back for her and it wasn't his fault she killed herself while he was gone. It's extremely tragic. On another note, the actress of Poppy is amazing, her delivery is creepy genius. Can't wait for you guys to watch Bly Manor and Midnight Mass from Mike Flanagan.
She played the lead in Flanagan's debut feature, Absentia. I wish he'd give her another leading role...she's awesome.
"you guys go on without me"
"how could we?"
I cry EVERYTIME i watch this part 😭
You cry. I don't. I have allergies.
It’s ok to cry, Tomasz
@@tomaszj8605 I'm chopping onions. That's my excuse.
...annnddd then they do go without her on the last night.
😭😭😭😭😔❤
In classic Flanagan fashion- he scares you beyond comprehension and then breaks your heart on a basic human level that stays with you.
Liv began to see the real world as a nightmare, because she kept seeing the future. It's like time and space are a bit wibbly wobbly in that house. Hence Nell being haunted by herself and Liv's "Welcome Home, Nell" message being on the wall in the past. I don't think the house wanted them dead, I think it just wanted them to stay. Hazel lived in that house all her life and died of old age. I think that the one manipulating Liv was Poppy, who was crazy even before her kids died and the house got to her. Listening to the story she told Liv, about the way her own children died and how she suffered until she "woke up" and her kids were safe in their beds, would explain why she might see Liv killing herself and the children as a good thing. Although Hazel does say Poppy is a liar and she does seem malicious at times.
I mean Poppy had been institutionalized, *before* she even came to Hill House and before she died. So maybe the house is just enhancing all the unhingedness in her. And Hazel said that Poppy lies, maybe she just means the things Poppy says just aren't true and not that Poppy is consciously, knowingly telling lies; in the same way that "not guilty by reason of insanity or mental defect" it doesn't mean you didn't do the thing, it means that you are not responsible for what you've done because you aren't in your right mind.
I feel like it’s really important in this episode to remember that when Liv gives young Theo the gloves and talks about her gift she talks about her mom having Theos gift but also having one herself where she sees things. Live premonitions of the future are compounded and preyed on by Poppy and the house which turns her visions into a self fulfilling prophecy in a way.
one could argue that Liv was "possessed" in a way by Poppy's insane ramblings and whisperings. Liv's story is so tragic and those last two lines by Liv and Hugh always make me tear up. every. single. time. 😢
I love how everyone just assumes Abigail is a ghost despite her never doing anything ghostly.
To be fair, little Luke is the only one that sees her, and he says that she lives "in the woods". We're meant to believe she's a ghost.
Liv's perspective is so tragic. It fills in all the gaps in what happened that night, and instead of terrifying, it's horrifying. Great reaction ✨🌟💛🌟✨
“You guys go on without me.” “How could we?” NEVER fails to make me cry like a baby no matter how many times I’ve seen it.
Can’t wait for the reaction to the final episode which is, as I’m sure you know by now, is so heartbreaking. If you go on to watch ‘The Haunting of Bly Manor’ you won’t be quite as terrified, but it’s fun to watch a lot of the same actors in new roles, but you’ll still need tissues by the end.
No more tissue warnings. They’re banned.
I didn't know it's going to be heartbreaking. Thank you for the spoiler.
The Romance of Certain Old Clothes though...... so so good
@@sunsetter3796 that's not really a spoiler lol, a spoiler would be telling you what happened for it to be heartbreaking
Wow! I'm usually respectfully pushing back against claims that Bly is equal to or superior to Hill House.
But now I'm in the position of defending what a great show Bly is in the face of people actually sh*tting all over it!
Bly is a FANTASTC show. It's just that its creators also made Hill House, which is a gold-rolled MASTERPIECE.
We are so lucky.
The actress playing Poppy is good. Did u notice she never blinks?
Is that poppy specific or the fact that she is acting? Actors tend to not blink With so much memorizing and facial expressions etc
@@Ifrankleon Not sure, but it's creepy, and reminds me what the kid told to Shirley about his grandmom
I am Poppy. I am Poppy. I am Poppy... * shivers *
One more episode. I hope you guys have enjoyed it so far. I have seen SO much TV in my time, but nothing I've ever seen has captivated me as much as this show has. It really is one of the greatest shows ever made. And if you liked this, you HAVE to check out the sequel, Bly Manor. Imo, it's almost as good (not as scary, but even MORE emotional if you can believe that!)
Bly manor is not a sequel. Hill House and Bly Manor are completely unrelated. The Haunting series is an anthology series much like American Horror Story, different stories for each season while having a very similar cast.
@@eianfederle2715 It's a sequel as in the second installment in the anthology. That still counts as a sequel. I never said it shared continuity or story with Hill House.
@@Kira1Lawliet look up the definition of a sequel.
@@eianfederle2715 I know what a sequel is, I'm just saying that in an anthology series, the second series can be considered a sequel of sorts, thematically if not narratively. There are many such shows and film series that have "sequels" that aren't connected to the previous movie narratively but only by theme. Look at the Three Flavors Cornetto trilogy.
@@Kira1Lawliet a sequel, by definition, is a published work that continues the story or develops the theme of an earlier one
So, do you remember the rose stamped chall that Olivia found right before having visions about an accident in the stairs? That chall was with the hat that belonged to William Hill, which makes me think the chall belonged to her wife, Poppy. I think when she wore it was when Poppy started to creep on her. The chall is also present in the scene with Poppy, resting in Olivia's couch. Also, during the vision she talked about a little boy in a wheelchair, which she later saw in the storm episode. This show really is a master class in story telling, so packed with meaningful details 🤯
One of my favourite episodes. Because it relates so much with people who struggle with depression. Specially such terrible way, each time they sink more and more, to a point they try to kill their own children. The fact that people around may sense something is wrong, they always try diminush but not in a bad way. Its kinda a phase that will pass. The loneliness of Olivia knowing that something was wrong, yet she couldnt explain or find a proper explanation. The way she saw the twins dead and wanting to keep them safe by trying not allowing them to grow up, without realizing she was their biggest danger!
Why does this show make me cry all the time? Top tier filmmaking
you are the first people i've seen to correctly guess Abigail's true identity before the reveal. Bravo guys
Poor mom. Love the actress who plays the mother - she is wonderful! And gorgeous!
The "go on without me" and "how could we?" Kills me. So many different lines in this show kill me. Can't wait to see your reaction to the finale. And bly manor. And hopefully midnight mass. 😊💜
I am on my 4th time watching the series. Every time I watch it I see more that I missed on other viewings. It's my ALL time favourite show. I am actually on the #9 screaming memies right now as I was watching you watch it. I love how you love it...
It's great like that. I'm at 4 or 5 times watching too. I think Chernobyl is my favorite. This is a close second.
that last scene just KILLS MY HEART 💔😭
That scream last episode was amazing lol
It's my new ringtone.
One of the greatest horror shows of all time, in my opinion.
It starts out really scary, but after a while you start to know the "ghosts" and all the quirks so well that you care for them. Incredible, really.
I love how at the beginning of this series you didn't think you'd be able to make it through it and now here at the end you're sad it's almost over.
You both are so insightful! Love your commentary
She did such an incredible job!! I love how she explained the screeming meemies! That actress was incredible!
The chat with Mrs. Dudley in the hall is Liv telling her that she is telekinetic. Her emotions got out of hand and she made it rain rocks.
A welcome calming intro music before the storm that is penultimate Episode 9 of Haunting of Hill House on TBR Schmitt!
I’m gonna hazard to say that his first impulse 22:40 to get the kids away from her and the house was, being the right one, not even processing what kinda person Liv is. I hazard that even he knew that, even in his later life, that Liv was not evil and if it was her own doing, which it wasn’t without the malevolent manipulation as we saw, then I’m guessing he would’ve chalked it up to her mental state breakdown rather than outright evil. (But also 20:55 I skipped over, d’oh) And that perspective of what Liv might’ve been thinking in the hallway? That’s hard to say... I appreciate the sleuthing! What I figured out from this show is that my perceptions aren’t solid from episode to episode. Did she mean to”wake up” in the same way she set out to “wake up” Luke and Nell?
26:20 I had NOT thought before! It was just so terrifying I hadn’t considered that motivation!
(FUTURE EPISODE SPOILER RANT)

Man, how’d you guys get around to that point about the room at this point 27:55 in your commentary PRIOR to the finale? That’s the thing about overeager advance comment section posts so eager to be first to share their theories and inadvertently give up the plot which they themselves were lucky to have had no inkling about on first experience. Same with universal “be ready with tissues...” like seriously, RUclips commenters are just spoilers for miniseries. I highly recommend MODS for future shows. People think telling you to “be ready with tissues” or “this that episode” are just passive aggressively hankering to spoil it like it was a favor. How would they feel on their first watch if someone “prepped” them or peppered them with advance overall theories, just to be first? Not cool!
(END RANT)
(SPOILER: that or you picked up quicker than u did even on my own rewatches...D’oh)
I didn’t pay attention before to Mrs Dudley mentioning she had a daughter...
Channel still delivers jump scare with the series! A first! 22:35 Hugh*
Can't believe it's almost over. Loved rewatching the show with you two. Hope you do more Mike Flanagan series. Take care.
I've so enjoyed this journey with you. I would implore you make sure you have some tissues to hand for the finale, but I'm guessing you already have it in the can - can't wait for that though. This is absolutely in my top 3 TV shows ever made. The ending of this episode completely broke me. Beautiful and tragic.
I really like the opening music for this channel. It’s so soothing.
Here’s the issue I have about “the second body”. It couldn’t have been Abigail. Because the police never even knew about her. The Dudley’s took her body and buried next to her favorite cabin in the woods. And Steve never told the police what happened. So no one even knew about Abigail except the Dudley’s and High and Liv. So the police would never have known about her body. We even see Mr. Dudley carrying her body through the woods
The 2nd body was Mr Hill's, who buried himself in the wall.
Love how deep you guys get into the end of each episode amd what it all means
This is such a layered show & as you say so many aspects of things being shown & then shown again from a different perspective that totally changes your initial impressions. IMO (& I’m sure I’m not saying anything groundbreaking) Poppy is like the worst of the ghosts/house coz she was apparently already insane & so the house’s influence on her heightened all of the bad, unhinged stuff & is why Poppy seems to be almost the main conduit for Olivia’s interactions.
Regarding the mold, I think it symbolises not only the decay/ruin/spreading infection of the house itself & its malign influence but it’s also specifically there to give something for Hugh to deal with, he doesn’t get much ghostly interaction & I think it’s coz the house realises he’s the fixer, the doer, give him a task, he will do it. The mold that never goes distracts him (as well as causing an issue that will potentially keep them in the house if they can’t sell) so he is unable to really help with Olivia or in other words he can’t be the line that keeps her kite grounded now. That then leaves Olivia to be so vulnerable to the house’s influences & why I think it goes so horribly wrong, so quickly for her. Such a tragic storyline imo.
So happy you guys are enjoying this series! As others have mentioned, the other Mike Flanagan series, Haunting of Bly Manor and Midnight Mass, are excellent as well. Would love to see your reactions to those.
I have to commend your reaction editing. You guys balance your comments and the video audio really well. Not talking through the whole thing.
And then the in depth discussion at the end of each Ep, rather than a 30 second outro.
Other Reactioners could do well to learn from you guys.
I look forward to the finale with you!
Hey, when you guys finish the show you could react to the hidden ghosts of Hill House', you're gonna be shocked of how much you missed lmao
Your reaction to this episode is making me think, if you haven’t already, you should watch the movie Arrival (2016).
That's what I first thought when I heard Nel's monologue about how time was not linear.
It has to be the house is haunted because the mold idea wouldn't work for all the things they saw as adults. The ghosts seen outside of the house and in various locations shows the family was being haunted. They tried to find a rational reason for the things they saw but were in denial, especially young Hugh, Steve, and Shirley. That theory also doesn't explain Theo's abilities.
True. But as the mold goes, if they grew up having it around and it affected them, minus Thor’s innate sensitivity, would it then still be affecting them?
Mike Flanagan is my modern day horror master. This series is great. I just finished watching his latest one, Midnight Mass and wow was that good too! I recommend that mini-series to check out next. It's in 7 parts.
Enjoying your discussions at the end.
Note that one scene with Mrs. Dudley, she stands in front of a statue with Angel wings, looking at that angle like she has them. All the clues lead to those people who are good and those people who aren’t.
Except Mrs Dudley tells her to keep the kids away from the world, so I dunno...
It was apparently an accident during blocking rehearsal & they kept it.
I've been looking out for this. Reviewed the last episodes so I'd be clear on the details. Gonna be good, I know. Here we go!
"What's wrong with her eyes?" When they prepare a body for viewing. THe mouth is sewed shut to prevent a corpse from naturally gapping in death. In Victorian times they would simply tie a scarf around the head. Also a plastic cap is placed on the eyes with vecro like outer surface to prevent the eyelids from naturally openning. They may even remove the eyes all together and stuff the sockets with cotton then sew the eye shut.
The actress who played Poppy's first movie was Flanagan's first movie too. An indie horror that cost $70k. Even in his first movie he scared you and broke your heart. Its called Absentia and I hope you guys watch it. It also has a rare role of Doug Jones where you actually see his face.
Get ready to cry more
This series is just phenomenal in every way!
I'm glad the blacks on my monitor are so deep that I can't see most of the scary stuff lol.
great reaction, thank you! comment for the algorithm :)
Sorta explains why later (e.g. at the funeral home), Hugh and Liv’s ghost are on good terms.
Anyone seen absentia. That's the scariest thing Mike ever touched
That final episo will make you guys cry I did.
So much emotion, wow but great reaction by you guys.
I just realized I would love for them to go back and do the story of the Hills. Seems to be able to digest people faster and faster the more it's infected the more people it's consumed so maybe it took longer for a to digest the Hills and we can get possibly two or three seasons out of their story I would be happy with one season but something would be nice unfortunately obviously we know the fates of few of the characters but we could definitely have fun figuring out the backstory of other ghosts and maybe actually getting to know the individuals before they became psychotic ghost.
In an episode full of sad moments, the saddest one for me was that Liv chose to kill herself by falling off the balcony. Poppy/the House was just about to push her. We already know that Liv dies here, so given that, I would have preferred if Poppy/the House had literally killed her instead of Liv choosing to do it herself.
Katie Siegel/Theo and Mike flanagan the writer/director are married. I absolutely love her to bits, she might be my new girl crush 😍
You guys are so fun 😂 ya’ll gotta watch Bly Manor after you finish this!

You guys should really watch the movie "Hush", which is also by Mike Flanagan, and stars Kate Siegel. It's brilliant.

Please watch Midnight Mass afterwards!
I have really enjoyed you sharing this journey. Please when you regain composure, I urge you to watch Bly Manor. It took me a couple of try’s to get into it. It’s a little slow at the start. But I think I actually liked it better in the end. But both shows are phenomenal.
That was good
Watch Midnight Mass please, it's so good!
I think you are still looking at it too literally. The house itself can be seen as a metaphor.😊
Yep, this house had Liv, so twisted that she didn't notice that Nelly and Luke were grown adults....
Um, she literally mentions this when she talks to Hugh. She says that they were adults - "all grown up" - but she was still able to recognize them.
The House is literally telling her that if her kids grow up they will die as adults by showing them dead as adults, and that's why she has to "wake them up" from that nightmare by giving them poison now when they're still kids.
3:29 One little sociological mistake: No one I have ever known religious enough to make a serious reference to "Revelation" in the Bible would have called the book "Revelations." Revelations (the plural) is something that people who don't really read the Bible call that book. Assuming Mrs. Dudley is as religious as they suggest, she'd be very unlikely to make that mistake. Small error.
I would skip Bly Manor and go straight to Midnight Mass
That scream in the last episode was indeed awesome. Squid Game next. Then Haunting of Bly Manor. 😉
Highly recommend Haunting of Bly Manor after you’re finished with this.
Please get your audio levels at a higher level. Vid stats show -12 db. I like your reactions but I know you can do better with the audio
Also interesting "The Haunting of Bly Manor" advises to watch .... pliz
This is the episode where the story starts to fall apart for me. The 10th episode was a let down. The writing was so good i the beginning but ends up being to convenient and certain parts just dont add up for the characters. They make decisions that totally go against what they were portrayed as and even betray their beliefs. Same thing happened in Midnight Mass and I chalked it up to just that show but now I see that this is the writing style of Flanagan.
Hes not that all that. he doesnt end well and I personally dont like his way of interjecting his atheist points of view. Almost like he is subliminally trying to change peoples minds to it. Like justifying the means. He has a style that is very theater. Like watching a play. That doesnt always transfer well onto film.
I don't mind when a director and/or writer tries to sway you to their way of thinking, because I feel everyone does. I mean, watch most movies about ghosts, exhorcisms, demons, angels, and they'll all try to convince you that you should 100% be a Christian or you'll suffer a horrible death. It's the same thing from a different perspective. That said, I think Midnight Mass is quite bad, pretty obvious, and relies waaaaay too much on exposition.
I feel like there was way too much commentary on this video. Idk just my opinion
During or afterward?
This is part of reaction videos. You get to hear what people thought of what they watched. If you don't like listening to the commentary don't listen
Strange opinion to have for a reaction video
