- The reveal of Stormgate's long awaited third faction brings a race of ancient beings, the Celestials, into the ongoing war between the Vangaurd and the Infernals. We visited the developers at Frost Giant to find out more about this new faction and how Frost Giant is at the forefront of the RTS genre.

Imagine if the people that made Starcraft started with a new blank slate.
Integrated new ideas and gameplay. Created 3 new factions and a whole new dynamic.
And weren't shackled by their Publisher.
What kind of game could they make? I'd love to find out.

The number one feedback seems to be regarding the graphics and look & feel. Are you going to address that? Are you working on improved graphics (especially the maps)?
I have to imagine that's something they will want to work on. I will say, map production likely doesn't have the same production funnel that gameplay mechanics and major changes to races would have.
Definitely would love to see one epic finished map, though, yeah.

Honestly I thought Battle Aces is a cool attempt at innovation
@@GypsumGeneration I love Battle Aces design decisions, and I really don't think it's directly competing with more traditional RTS games. I'll probably play Battles Aces + one of the other major RTS games coming out (maybe Stormgate, maybe one of the others). The problem with Battle Aces is the total lack of flavor. It's soooo bland.

When fully upgraded, yes. The Hierarchy from Universe at war do too. Also the Goo in Grey Goo.
But I think for this game, you still have to build a lot of structures, you can just move around your build area it seems.

The game is great and I can't wait to play it again. 25 EUR to play the game 2 weeks earlier + a hero, 3 missions and golden paint for one faction is too much. I hope the 2 weeks earlier access is at least 10 EUR, which I still dislike.
I will still try the campaign and buy a few cool unit skins or heroes if the price is reasonable (few bucks). If finishing the Vanguard single player story costs me comparable to a new game they can forget it.
I support this game with all my RTS love gathered, since I playing WC Humans and Orcs when I was 5, but if they get greedy I will just play the free multiplayer modes. It's not even about money, which I have to spare.
Maybe they only want feedback from players who are more serious about the game. It's ok, it'll be free-to-play in no time :)
@@Clarity-808I am in the discord channel and they Tell us they want feedback from everyone, as much as possible. This ist a good sign and thats why I'm hopefull. I just don't want them to lose payers, because of aggressive pricing
@@veseliniliev3361 It is 10$ per Coop-Commander and 10$ per 3 campaign missions. Same pricing as in SC2, they also had 10$ per commander and for Novas missions, it were even 15$ for 3 missions. The 25$ pack includes 1 commander and 3 missions. The 40$ package has 3 commanders and 3 missions. The 60$ pack has 3 commanders and 3 times 3 missions. And don't ask me why the 25$ pack is 25$ and not 20$.
@@veseliniliev3361 Feedback is pointless at this point. The things that are really broken with the game are unfixable given they're releasing into EA in a few weeks.
The celestials feels a combinations of protoss and terrans
I played them and believe me they are different. Can't compare them with any SC or WC race. They are a mix of some races from other games as well.
I am huge fan of SC2 and massive fan of SC and not going to even download this kind of ...
Just like that with 2 new factions and it will be ok.

The gameplay is decent but the graphics are just not there. I hope they overhaul the look a bit. As it stands it looks worse than a lot of mobile games.

Guys.. this doesnt even look better than sc2 ... just my humble opinion.
Starcraft 2 came out 14 years ago and it looks better than this. I'm not into graphics that much but you need to reach the bare minimum.
So the bare minimum is exceeding AAA Blizzard level after two years of development for a free to play game that needs to run smoothly on as many machines as possible? Dawg y'all are Veruca Salk level
@@GypsumGeneration The bare minimum is having it not look like a mobile game from 2015. Many of their competitors have games that look and run far better and have spent a fraction of the $40M they raised from investors and the community. Frost Giant are one of the most embarrassing studios to have existed. I look forward to their inevitable demise.

These guys seem very likable and I had really high hopes for this game, taking into account their pedigree. Having said that, this ain't it chief... The art design is so uninspired, the three factions are more or less watered down version of the ones found in Starcraft and what we've seen of the lore and names ("Celestial Armada" "Infernal Host", really?) so far is ultra generic.
visuals are starcraft again, but the gameplay is really different except for a few units like zerglings and tanks.
Then don't buy and chill with the paragraphs. Nobody's forcing you to play. Move on
I mean, Starcraft's factions were watered down Warhammer 40k factions, but they managed to make it interesting with a good story, gameplay, and design. I'm hoping StormGate can make up the... uninspired factions with a great game.
@@Urobot While it's true that SC factions are basically taken from Warhammer - in no way they are watered down. Research before stating something like that.

So it's Darksiders basically. Sorry, but the game feels uninspired and looks awful. Old StarCraft 2 looks and feels way better and unique.

@@Demetrius900000 what mobile game are you playing? I don't see any with HBAO or even AA like what's seen here. You have no idea what you're talking about man, you just use mobile game as a synonym for 'doesn't exceed current AAA', but you're looking at a free to play game 2 years into development. Shocker I know, but StarCraft 2 looked similar at that stage too, because what matters is a smooth an fun experience, not impressing divas who think high contrast and a screen full of particle effects are what pass for 'good graphics'.
