What made him arguably the best is his consistency and almost zero blunders as a wicketkeeper for more than a decade, and the fact that he is also one of, if not the greatest batsman. Plus he was wicketkeeping when Murali was at his peak, which is not easy.
Dhoni, Gilchrist and McCullum are up there too in the modern game. Sangakkara's class and elegance in batting is unmatched compared to the more aggressive style of the other 3.
I too agree! All 4 are great when it comes to keeping, Gilly kept for crazy turn of warne, Dhoni kept for utmost unpredictable ash and sanga for murali. But the elegance which sanga has with the bat is just classy !

Have you ever heard of a really old cricketer named - Sir Garfield Sobers. He was left handed and he is considered best cricket of all time. Some people rate him even better batsman than Sir Donald Bradman
He is certainly best from Sri Lanka but there are a few more great left handers you have to mention like Brain Lara, Clive Lloyd, Mathew Hayden, Adam Gilchrist and many more but I agree he is one of the greats

And he's also one of the few batsmen that managed to pass 10000 runs. I have a feeling that you'll love his batting too.
