Be interested since he was SO revered as such a Great Actor what his thoughts were of being in these films? It seems like such a come down for him. Yes his profile was a legend.
John Barrymore was only in 3 of these Drummond films, from 1937 - 1938. This one, Bulldog Drummond Comes Back; Bulldog Drummond's Revenge; and Bulldog Drummond's Peril.
Watch the John Barrymore disguised character when he walks into the Pub at 26:20 and then watch Sherlock Holmes and the secret weapon. When Basil Rathbone as Holmes puts on a disguise and goes searching for Professor Moriarty in the Pubs of London' Docklands area it's easy to see where he got the inspiration for the character from. They're even singing the Drunken Sailor song in both films.

This is an excellent film series. John Howard, E.E. Clive, & Reginald Denny are a great team.
A bit different to see Denny turning out to be the bad guy in "Midnight Phantom". (1935)
Reginald handled playing villians pretty well. THANKS FOR YOUR TXT! ✌️
