In this lesson you will learn how to simplify expressions that involve exponents. First we will review the exponent laws, which tells us when we can add exponents together and when we can multiply exponents.
Next, we will practice simplifying expressions that involve exponents by applying the power rules and exponent laws of algebra.
this guy is a great teacher - excellent example of what other teachers should strive to be.
I am 76 years old. Math was the only subject in high school that I liked. I made below average in all my subjects except math. I made A’s in math, I loved it. Didn’t take algebra but I am really enjoying yours on RUclips. You are the best teacher I have ever listened to. I also earned a 2 year computer programming degree at a local community college many years later. But life got in the way and I never completed my programming career. I really like hearing you teach, keep it up, you are great at it.
I’m currently working on getting my GED and I’m having to go back to basics. Exponents seem so confusing but this teacher is phenomenal. For the first time I was able to follow along and not be confused. Big thanks!
This is the most comprehensive video I've seen on exponent laws. Thank you!
What does comprehensive mean
@@nickgill6639 able to be understood
You're AMAZING TEACHER!!!!!! I LEARNED SOME MATH TODAY!! I NEVER WAS TOUGHT THIS!!!😊😊
If you are my maths teacher, I will become a mathematician even though I find maths so hard to understand. God bless you Sir and thank you so much.
I’m studying for the asvab and AFOQT and your videos are lifesaving! Years of school didn’t teach me what you do in minutes. THANK YOU for sharing your gift with us! ❤
Fantastic job of explaining the various rules for simplifying exponents.
names of the laws
law of negative exponent
= x^-n = (1/x)^n
product of powers
= x^m×x^n = x^m+n
power of power
=(x^m)^n = x^m×n
Power of product
=(xy)^m = x^m × x^y
Quotient of power
=(x^m/x^n = x^m-n)
fractional exponent
=x^m/n = n^radical am
Makes it very intuitive and is very thorough and literally drives the concept into you. One of the best instructors I've seen on U-Tube and I've seen many.
im going to college in a few days and i already forgot the basics. thank you for this!! this is so good, i love your explanation, how you break down the examples, this is exactly what im looking for haha i dont think my teacher in highschool explained this lesson in such a way.
This is why I love youtube math because if you dont get it you can rewind and then you can pause to stop and work them out
Yes!
@@MathAndScience hi
So in the 3^2 x 3^3 I was so confused a little bit though
Jhen Lagriada what confuse you ?

Nakhi sarenga artham kaledu thanks for your time
teluga?
I want to add something to this already great lesson... m and n actually represent their own values as said, but they could also by shear coincidence be the same value and the laws still hold true
Hats off, this gentleman is a great teacher
