How often is command significantly updated ? I don't like the way currently Mercedes have 'sandboxed' Apple CarPlay so you cant for example listen to CarPlay audio and use Mercedes navigation at the same time
How can we get the hands free to go on the telephone screen and dial a number, on 2017 GLC 300? The talk button begins with the navigation, stays on the navigation screen, and only let us say the navigation commands that are on the screen! So pressing the talk button and saying phone or radio do not get us out of the navigation and on the phone or the radio. How can we use the talk button to start a phone call?
I have C Class 2017 Merc and voice control only brings up the navigation when voice control button is pressed and no other commands work apart from nav related
Back then, no. It had to be done this way. Not sure if MB made a patch so that these MY cars will now work with apple car play and android auto or not. Would be worth investigating.

2013 c350 i try saying speed dial 1 and it just dial wrong person..
