The vita could play ps4 titles remoteplay. But i think they should explore somethin similar to the pspgo an all digital system you can download ur ps5 games instead of remoteplaying them so you can online or offline anywhere thats already better than the ps portal
A new PSP that can play all Song games from PS1 PS2 PSP's PS3 & Some PS4 yea plus you can connect it to your TV & go even further in terms of allowing Indie game devs to have their games on there as well.
If it launches anywhere around 2027 it needs at a minimum to run 1080p ps5 games at 60-120fps and hopefully even at 2k at 60fps, and it needs a web browser and hopefully somekind of community support like for voice chat, groups etc or native discord support would be nice..
Okay for those not clued up on PC stuff, if sonys new psp is 18cus, that would make it on par with the xbox series S(which has 20) but they would be more efficient compute units and technically faster. However the s, sucks back 74watts, which is not feasible in a handheld if you want battery life to last longer and have a light console. However due to efficiencies which if its 2 years out then you can expect it to run on rdna 3.5 which should be able to run at series S level perf at maybe 55watts maybe less depending on how hight the chips clock. The biggest factor would be form factor, cooling and most importantly battery. If it is rog ally sized, it woukd get 1 hr game play at current battery tech.

I would rather them make a handheld that has nothing to do with the console. No backwards compatibility with the PS5 or PS4. Just make it its own dedicated handheld with its own games. That would be lit. Because if they force it to have backwards compatibility they're just going to do what they did with the Vita and not make anything for it.

I hope they make this just like the original psp, where you just connect your account and thats it. You can play offline or from the other side of the world.
Just to sorta rant to absolutely nobody. The PlayStation portal wasn't advertised as a "New PSP" or even a "Take your ps5 anywhere console" Its main use is to go around your house and not be confined to your TV screen. If you get tired of playing on your TV or someone wants to watch something, you can simply turn on the portal and keep playing. You can use the portal to game outside the house (I personally use my phones' hotspot with no issues to game away from the house) but its main goal is simply to be used while your controllers charge and your TV is turned off.
Sorry for yapping, but that’s a small niche. Most people are not keen on paying $500 for a device that can only stream within their house and maybe elsewhere with shotty hotspot data. As seen with the Steam deck, portable handheld consoles are still very popular. If Sony, the biggest handheld console creator besides Nintendo, were to make another PSP, it would blow up and with proper features and marketing, it could possibly be bigger than the Switch. Big possibly though.

If this psp releases that you can play ps4 and 5 games. Having both This handheld and the Odin 2 would be amazing. All the games at your fingertips. If they want to make it work they should place the price between $400 and $500. Make the memory card a Micro SD Card adapter. That will give it 1.5 TB of storage space that is like $150. Is doesn't need max graphics but if it can play games like spiderman. Gta 5 Red Dead Redemption 2 and other ps4 and 5 games. It will succeed.
if this is real i hope its kinda like some of the stuff we got like the stream deck or ps5 or the xboxs where you can add better storge and has a good body to hold good and smooth buttons
PSP struggled with offline piracy and keeping up with it's own hardware. These are different times now, I can definitely see great success from a PS rejuvenated handheld console.
The premise behind it is nice, this will also give a much needed additional market edge to sony over microsoft as they do have experience in handheld related consoles and handheld gaming. The biggest reason why nintendo dominates the mobile console space is strictly because of its expansive R&D into improving its handheld colsoles generation after generation with the Switch oled feeling like the peak of handheld console gaming currently. Not mention as you said Nintendo is more focused on the play as you go comsumer base which is bolstered by its large library of on the go games titles such as Pokémon, The Legend of Zelda series, Mario titles, and other such titles like Dragon quest. I think personally it would be amazing to see Sony try to jump back into the handheld market. I personally feel the portal has a nice design which could rival that of the switch but its flaws of requiring internet connection all the time made it a bust. Im hoping as well as someone who is always on the go that These On the go console companies evaluate their connection requirements even the switch itself is very limited to what public internet connections you can join.
Give me a backwards compatible psp with a video dock to tv, internet browsing, RUclips, and streaming capabilities. It should be able to play UMD discs and Vita cartridges. And be able to use a remote control and a game controller with out the need of a dock. Local offline co-op game play is a must. Needs IR ports and button capabilities like on the PSP 1000, 2000, and 3000. Needs the umd door on the 1000 version, and for the love of God leave out the door shut sensor that plagues the 2000 & 3000 models. & touch screen capabilities with the option to turn them off.
Would love to finally see another PSP but by the way you’re describing the rumours, why would I get a PSP that struggles to natively run PS5 games when I could get a SteamDeck that can do that and MUCH more. Especially if the handheld is >£300. Would make more sense to get something than can even serve as a back up PC than a handheld console that can barely run current gen games.
I think we'll only see a handheld playing PC (with even fewer problems), Xbox Series and PS5 games once ARM becomes the standard. X86 takes too much power and produces a lot of heat. So, I'm crossing my fingers for intense ARM development on Windows/AMD/Intel side. Apple kinda already shown its benefits
why would anyone get a portable that can only play ps4 and older games when they can get a deck or rog ally that can play almost any game on the market???
Lost of reasons, decks and ally’s battery life are pretty trash. Exclusive games, cus I miss PlayStation all stars on my vita, and Sony has been doing handheld before these other companies, they will make our experience greater.
TBH Sony will have to make something that isn't too powerful, since they don't want people to skip buying a PS5 for a handheld. I think a portal type device that can hold a few games that you can play on anytime then you get home and can pick right back up on your PS5. One of the reasons Nintendo didn't make another handheld like the DS is because they wanted people to buy the switch, not compete against their own devices.
The vita only failed because it came out a few years early where mobile processor improved dramatically so it locked support nowadays a device that had its own proprietary version of games and able to stream ps5 like portal would kill the competition
the portal is a nice device...but it must run ps4 and 5 standalone ,,,then its perfect... the diplay size is absolut nice not to big and not to small...
Sony got me bored that I started collecting their psp handheld consoles. Still a good one, if they make a new psp I may ditch the idea of getting a switch.
Open back the old vita store, for the older version, rework the software to give it better optimization of the current hardware it has. Allow player to get back online and they good to go. The vita is still a viable system even in this day and age, with some good titles as well to it's name...
I don't think a new sony handheld with it's own library of games is a bad thing persay. The success of the PSP shows that it's entirely fine if they did so. The vita's failure, I think, mainly comes down to Sony's failed handling of the system; the first, major issue being the overpriced memory cards, a second one being that sony didn't release enough exclusives for the console after it's launch. This probably also has to do with the development of the PS4 which came out 2 years later, thanks to which the focus shifted away from the handheld entirely, and the vita got left in the dust.
Um, did Daniel just mention seeing "a bunch of new handhelds" at MWC? Why on earth aren't we hearing about all of those handhelds that already exist as prototypes instead of this super secret, might-be-in-development, phantom PS5 Portable? Show us the handhelds from MWC, Daniel!

@@sabian5290 nobody who wants a handheld device is getting a steam deck
@@moonie1825 yeah that’s kinda true cause I want a good handheld like the steam deck but something about it isn’t quite selling to me
The only selling point of this handheld is if it can PS titles, exclusive or not.
I think the psp2 should have its own games
A PS5 Nintendo Switch with DualSense Controllers on a 9 inch screen❤
Most of my ps4 games are on my ps5. This would be impressive. Because I also own transformers fall of cybertron on ps4/ps5
I still have my PSP 3000, it better be backwards compatible with PSP UMD games.
Whatever happened to the PSVita I feel like sony is to focused on the PS5 when they should make a portable console. They forgot all about it.
Why not just update the portal to do all this?
I need one, pls make it quick Sony!
i would buy it if you can detach the controllers, at least 8inches 4k. and can run windows and under 1k usd
That’s the Lenovo legion go..
The freaking portal wasnt a disappointment
Then they finesse us buying the portal then i haven’t touch mines in months sitting on top of my microwave 😂😂
Nintendo switch fanboy alert 😂😂😂
@@EnaTenkiyoGamerChronically online "gamers" who actually dont even play games and instead just spend their hours being obnoxious trolls in comment sections, when someone criticises their favourite megacorporation's product: (they must be a fan of this completely unrelated company they never mentioned because i have no comprehension of differing opinions)
@@continental_consumer playstation portal is selling well and you cry about it hahaha
PlayStation should have never left the handheld console field the way they did, it’s like they gave up. It’s a shame because if they would have put as much effort into handhelds like Nintendo, they would have a successful product outside of their home video game consoles.
I just want a return of the playstation phone with sliding controls+keyboard.
I can play my Bluetooth headphones with my PlayStation portal
