CRENDILATIOOOOOOOOOOOOOONS
@@Cyrum7 Forget Dragons, what about the droid attack on the Wookies?
I never understood why they don't use a blade like in fallen order... Two lightsaber who can join together forming a double bladed saber... You can use one alone and then surprise the enemy with the second one or use them as a dual blade saberstaff then divide them for a surprise attack... You have so much more variety
complexity. Why we choose to drive cars with 4 wheels instead of having the vehicles convert to 2 wheel use on the highway for better fuel efficency and have deployable wing sections for lift or downforce in sharp turning.. A simple saber is ultimately the more economical choice with fewest things that could go wrong. A spoon that is good at being a spoon instead of a spork, etc.
@@NoobNoobNews well I don't see much the complexity of two saber joint together at the bottom. We see that lightsaber already had something at the end to attack them on the belt... Someone have a ring other have more complex system like magnets instead of that add a joining mechanism and is done... The only problem I could see is the crystal not always you get 2 crystals... Usually you get one... In fallen order cal already have a double bladed lightsaber but one emitter is broken... Then he get one crystal that broke in two so is like the perfect match... But I don't think get a second crystal was so hard before the empire... Jedi control illum so I guess you can go there and get a new one...
First off, it's not very ideal to be a jack of all trades when it comes to fighting. Simplicity and efficiency are often more than enough, like Dooku. Secondly, the problem with double bladed sabers is that you gain an extra blade but not an extra weapon. You get an unwieldly staff that you now have to avoid as well and you can still only employ one blade at a time. The enemy also only has to keep track of one side, because the other side can only mirror it. You might catch an opponent off guard by dividing them, but that's a one time trick and if you don't end it there you've no longer got an advantage. It's just better to have a plan that could work even if the enemy knows about it than to try for a surprise.
@@Nezxmi I don't think so... Think about maul he use a saberstaff but was defeated because obi cut the staff in half same with some of the inquisitors asoha hit the spinning disk and broke it... So if in that instance you could detach one of the blade without losing your weapon I think is a good deal... You can discard one blade and go for only one.. True maybe can be considered one time trick if the enemy know your fighting style... But I think combined with different forms of combat could become more complex... A lot of jedi later on don't study all the forms but usually create an amalgamation from them... Because don't have the time and the jedi order backing them up.... That's why unusual kind of lightsaber become more common... Like the saber blaster made by erzra.
I think you could use more than one time as a trick... You could start with one blade with the second hidden.... Then put out the second and go dual welding and then go saberstaff... Or made all believe you are a saberstaff user they try to cut your staff in half an you devide them and strike...
If I remember right in the animated clone wars movie, Ventress has hooks on the bottom of her sabers and combines them together to make a saberstaff for a quick fight against Anakin

I remember reading several articles from swordsman and historians doing tactical analysis of Lightsabers, and they stated Lightsaber combat irl would look more like Fencing as opposed to the flashy swordplay seen in Star Wars. This is because the entire blade is lethal. Just a single poke or puncture can result in lethal damage.
It would probably be some kind of cross between rapier and military saber, rather than Olympic fencing which is structured around a rather strict set of rules. However it would be modified to account for the extreme lack of weight in the blade, which makes "power strikes" rather pointless since momentum requires mass.
@@khadenallast4495the lightsaber hilts are supposed to quite heavy so heavy grip and zero weight to the blade would be weird

The reason Ahsoka has a shoto is because she was using a reverse grip on her saber. Reverse grip isn't very good at rapidly blocking blaster fire at short range. Just look at the fight on alderaan between Ahsoka and the bounty Hunter. Anikan encouraged her to start dual wielding.
@Cody Brock sing was a Jedi initiate at some point in her life. But that's not the point. The point is Ahsoka picked up a second blade for better defense.

Dual wielding is fun, but also more confusing and limiting than you'd expect until you try, it really does take a lot of practice to get good at it. For a greater immiate advantage with less longer term training go for the curved hilt. When I saw Attack of the Clones for the first time my inclination was to think that the curved hilt was a silly gimmick that wouldn't actually make a helpful difference in combat. Then I built one on a whim, gave to to my brother, and dueled him with my normal straight hilt: normally he was a near match for for me, I being able to almost always beat him after a few minutes of wearing him out and then using a feint, dodge, or grappling to get him, but this time he and I were both surprised and thrown off our rhythm. He nearly eating my saber twice in the first couple blows because of how much the curved hilt changed the angle of his blocks, and me then getting smacked upside the head because the subtle change in the angle of his attacks caused me to misjudged a parry.

The reason that people in real life by and large don't wield is because it is usually better to use your second hand with a shield, or a two handed weapon. And a lot of people in certain places and times did dual wield. While it is hard, almost no one walks into battle armed with only one single handed weapon. It's always better to have anything in your off hand, even including a coat.
Exar Kun: “So your telling me instead of a staff I can make this two separate weapons?”
*So anyway, Exar started slashing*
Exar Kun’s greatest strength and weakness are the same, his trick lightsaber
@@KumaoftheForest It wasn’t the lightsaber so much in my opinion. It was how his skills were more oriented for melee and saber battle. That, too me, Is what caused his downfall. If he looked more into the force and unlocked more of the mystery’s of the Dark Side, he could of easily combated the Jedi bombing and sealing.
The beginning when you tried to act like who were having fun opening those was so funny 😂
One of the most important reasons to use one long and one short weapon while dual wielding is it is a lot harder for the blades to become tangled with each other.

Would love to see you expand on this with some lightsaber staff and double sided lightsabers action. Maybe a video on types of lightsabers and which is best in which situation?
Something I noticed in Jedi Fallen Order was that a duel wielding lightsaber opponent (Tarron Malikos) was weaker when it came to defend against attacks while Cals defends was tougher.
Duel wielding is like putting most of your skill points in agility and attack.
Have another look at that last duel between Grievous and Obi Wan. As he backs off, Obi Wan is studying the movement of Grievous's swords. Once he has the pattern down, he thrusts his blade at the right moment to completely arrest the two whirling blades. Obi Wan was never off balance, he was using his renowned patience to his advantage. I'm just saying...
This is getting out of hand, now there are two of them
Cal Kestis has the best balance, a single double bladed lightsaber that turns into dual wielding blades.
Better to have it and not need it, than need it, but not have it

How would the Post Human-Covenant war UNSC be able to handle a Zerg invasion when the Overmind was in control?
They would loose, everything in SC is bigger and more advanced than Halo. Except maybe the Spartans.
@@Raeinok
And how? The Terran Dominion is not that powerful and they have only a hundred ships and a few planets. The Protoss are small in number and don't have many feats. The Zerg are really the only true power house of any interest to me.
@@thorshammer7883 The Swarm would win. There are trillions of troops available if the Overmind controls them all, humanity doesnt have a chance against that. Also SC 2 tech seems more advanced, of course with the exception of the Forerunners (who may be equal to the Xel Naga).
I researched dual wielding for a book I am writing and from my finding I am writing that having a reverse (ice pick) grip would be used mainly for defensive actions.
catching and deflecting incoming attacks and counter slashing, where as a forward grip is used for attacking and flipping between these grips would change the attack patterns. Also in fighting multiple opponents having both blades in a reverse grip would be a mainly defensive battle focusing on counter attacking while deflecting multiple incoming blows.
After spending some time in the Lightsaber Dojo on my Oculus Quest 2, I can confirm that although dual wielding lightsabers looks cool and is fun, it's compromised. You don't have any free hands to force choke, push or grab opponents - so you are purely reliant on the sabers, which are actually quite difficult to coordinate effectively. I played around with dual wielding for a while and then went back to a single saber with a free hand for force powers - and was far more effective.

Duel wielding is really not that great.
It can be fun, but it is also difficult to do. Due to your fencing background I would suggest starting with rapier and dagger, since this would be more familiar, and branch out from there.

Or you could just carry a blaster set on stun [bolts can't be reflected back at you] or a pistol with cortosis slugs in you off hand.
A normal slugthrower would be enough, doesn't even need cortosis rounds. Lightsabers can't deflect metal.
@@olafgurke4699 They can cut the slugs and turn them to plasma... not much better, but they are a thing. Bullets are fast, though. a machine gun would give any jedi a run for their money.
@@NoobNoobNews Not quite. They cut the bullet and turn it into molten metal. So they get a Batch of hot liquid metal to the face instead of a cold shaped one.

I can handle two if I have enough skill points
Dual, independent blades offers the ability to strike two dissimilar targets simultaneously thus negating a singular defensive parry. Considering that the fantasy weapon in question cuts effortlessly through nearly any material the power of said strike is immaterial if not blocked or parried. So two is better than one.

I'm using Dual wielding at HEMA contact fighting. (using two sabers)⚔️
It took very long time to learn fighting with the other hand, including training the small muscles. Also it took a lots of extra time for learning very special movements to not accidentally hit your self.
In the end, I can truly be two enemies at the same time and attack way more fast, aggressive and with strong variations on my opponents.
But after 5 to 10 minutes it is extremely exhausting in mind. After a good fight, my head feels like a burning volcano.

Historically, dual wielding was not only well developed in some places, but a signature of certain schools of duelling.
Used almost exclusively after the age of the firearm had begun, when armour and shields were less useful, it provided an extra block or attack in fencing. Often the second blade had extra features, for trapping an opponent’s blade, even if for only a moment, even breaking them.
Allen, love what you're doing here. Big fan! Wanted to comment and ask a question. As a life long practitioner of martial arts, I think your assessment of dual-wielding lightsabers is pretty believable due to force users being pre-cognitive and the light-weight of lightsabers. On Earth there is close to no historical record of dual-wielding actually being a thing, outside of Filipino Eskrima and Miyamoto Musashi's own home-brew style. Mainly for reasons you cited around lack of coordination and using the off-hand to hold a shield, which was common since armor was not developed to the point of full plate for lack of technology to create large enough plates for it! However, once full plate was all the rage, weapons had to be developed to open those cans up. Enter the two-handed swords, poleaxes, etc. My question is around the reverse grip. If there's little historical precedence for dual-wielding, there is even less so around reverse grip. At least for swords. The whole idea around the sword was distance advantage. It's very natural for a mammal to raise their arm and bring it down holding a hafted weapon like an axe, or even a rock. We see monkeys do this, too (with rocks!) What is not natural is to stand in front of danger with a pointy object. That takes significant training to override the instinct to use a sword as a metal club (or how we see Rey fight with a lightsaber, which she swings like a baseball bat). The only reverse grip sword techniques I'm aware of can be seen in European treaties is a murder stroke. Either on horseback to take down those annoying foot soldiers grabbing at you, or to direct your blade in-between those pesky impenetrable plates. Otherwise, a reverse grip completely negates all the range advantage and cutting leverage of a sword. Even defensively this does not make sense because you don't want to receive a blow with a sword directly and risk snapping your blade. Best practice is to redirect a blow or receive the blow closer to the hilt where more of the force can be absorbed into your hands/body. But generally that's if you're unarmored. In full plate you'd be like a tank, just taking hits while mowing down anyone in your way with your two-handed death instrument. Also, unless we're looking at legends there seems very little, if any, precedence for reverse grip in canon. It feels like Ahsoka was provided this style to make her character pop, which I consider lazy writing. It's like in The Last Kingdom where Uhtred it the only character who carries his sword on his back. No one in all of history did this! Mainly because it is much slower to draw from your back than your hip, and it's physically impossible to draw a blade from behind you when the blade is longer than your arm! Back scabbards and reverse grip are the fallacies of ninja comics and Hollywood. And for that matter, where did Ahsoka learn this technique from anyway?! Aniken certainly didn't teach it to her or we would have seen him use reverse grip. OK, rant over. Sorry, I get worked up. I'm interested in your response to this given you put a lot of Star Wars into believable and understandable context.
Alan, with all this study of saber technique I fully expect you to participate in SaberComp 2020.
I double-blade-dare you.
Energy sheild have the ability to be fluid or stiff. It sounds like the bending and warping spacetime combined with a superfluid that can disperse energy, perhaps quantum tunneling to redirect energy in multiple directions. Occilating magnetic feild can disrupt spacetime and have the ability to polarize to push or pull. Extending a magnetic feilds width in one direction without losing strength could also contain plasma.
Also would allow you shape it to be flexible like a whip.

If the wielder is bonded to their crystal do the 2 force crystals have to in sync as well? Like your crystals are siblings in the force or something.

Imagine a Jedi pairing a Gungan shield with a lightsaber with a cross guard. Ad Profundis!
Captain fordo in the old clone wars cartoon managed to use 2 blasters you should ha e featured that in the video but still nice video.
As a dual wielder myself there are a bunch of advantages and disadvantages.
For one the bastard sword is a good weapon to use against dual wielders but also the fact that you have to put a lot of effort into the swing on the bastard sword leaves you wide open to attacks while you are resetting your arms for another attack.
you should make a video on the merits a single saber vs sabrestaff (dual-bladed saber)
surprised there was no mention of the guard shoto at all, Maris Brood dual wielded these and I'm sure they had an extremely potent defensive potential.
Energy sheild generator gauntlet that has the ability to extend and surround you or your opponent. Also energy sheild on armor to protect from blaster fire so you can focus on attacking more than defences. A jedi tank would of been awesome to see.

I still think the saber pike is a way underrated lightsaber, provided the hilt is saber resistant. you block with a 2 meter staff thats part lightsaber, your reach is amazing, and you can overpower people who have smaller lightsabers just by using a wide 2 handed grip
Yo what's that song is thatwhen your opening the lootbox
If I were to have a lightsaber dueling style it would be a fusion of soresu, makashi and ataru. I would duel wield using a standard blade in the main hand and a curved shoto in the offhand. The lynchpin of the fighting style is that I would master force telekinesis to such a degree that I could use it to duel from a distance with my main blade while keeping my offhand weapon to block and parry. Use the ataru to dash in to seize an opening created with the main sabre or to gain distance if things start getting too hairy. At the pinnacle of the style I would have the ability to maintain control of my lightsaber even in the midst of an intense lightsaber duel, using the blade to strike at foes from all sides while I keep myself safe and wait for an opening.
For some reason, I was having flashbacks to a Dark Souls weapons video when Alien was going through using a Shoto. Strange. Also, the unboxing is EXACTLY how I "used to" unbox my presents!
I always wanted to see a Jedi, or sith weild duel lightsabers that would interlock into a duel bladed lightsaber like Mauls, and adjust the blades width, like I heard Darth Vader had, and used in the fight with Obi- Wan Kenobi on the Death Star. Is this saber possible in the Star Wars universe?
Research Darth Bane’s master. Kassim (think I spelled it right.)
Exar Kun’s lightsaber could not split in half, but it’s blade settings could be changed on the fly.
Shado Vao’s lightsaber was a double bladed lightsaber that’s hilt length could change depending on the situation. Hope this helps
“We can only focus on one hand or arm at a time”

should do a video on single, dual wield and double blade.
Lots of good points. I tried using both a long sword and dual swords whilst doing martial arts and surprisingly found that whilst trying Eskrima (Filipino martial arts that using dual sticks/blades) I hated using the shorter dual blades (the co-ordination required felt distracting and my strikes lacked power). Much prefered the control and balance of using both hands on a longer sword in Japanese martial arts. Guess its down to the individual too.
It could just be the martial art as well. For example the techniques used in Eskrima are not the same as you would use when dual wielding sideswords or rapier. I personally also prefer two-handed use (HEMA longsword, and Yagyu Shingan-ryu kenjutsu), but I respect that a different weapon would require different methods. With the near weightless blade of the lightsaber, there really wouldn't be much purpose to wielding it with two hands.
