    Bought our first home and this is exactly what my boot on my electrical in looked like which likely caused the panel to arc and need replacement. Watched your videos and did the split boot, not a single drop since.

    A temporary quicker-fixer-upper until permanent and proper repair can be made. Nice of you to do that as rain was coming.

    I believe Box Vents should be tucked in with shingle material?

  • @JakeVasapolli
    @JakeVasapolli 3 года назад +1

    If removing the box vent, how would you patch that whole within the sheathing? (since there would have to be something below it to support the patched-in sheathing)

    • @GrandRoofingInc
      @GrandRoofingInc  3 года назад

      Remove just enough shingles to cut the hole bigger right over a truss, and to the next truss then patch with a piece of wood.

      That's actually a good video topic to show. Thanks!

      @@GrandRoofingInc That'd be great! I ask because I need to have some removed on my own roof for a similar issue. Would be great if you could record it if you do end up removing these!

    Where does the water drain out that gets into the vents on the side?

    • @sg1efc
      @sg1efc 3 года назад +1

      The rain that comes in through my side vents (of my same box type vents) when it's windy, drips down right into my attic. Which is why I ordered 5 replacement vents that are circular type and has caps that cover the vent slots.

    Hi Pro (sorry I don't know your name). As a roofing professional, could you advise what is the best place to install bathroom fan vent cover (and/or the proper way install them) ? Looks like a lot of the leak on the roof, I saw soffit vents draw moist air into the attic and the osb getting moldy. Most of the hvac techs are not roofing specialsts, that is an issue, I guess 😂 Maybe you would do a separate video for bath fan vent covers 🤔 Thanks a lot. All the best.

      When I talked to them about a week later they said it did not leak. I told them it was just temporary because of the rain but they were OK with it and never got anything else done.

    Thats how the hvac guys installed the b vent flashing on my roof when I had my fireplace installed. Except they used deck screws and tar. Some people shouldn't touch roofs

    Pay attention to the vent ridge as it is one of the worst style of vent ridges that you can install. No baffle equals minimal venting.

    • @sheilacreigsa1575

      Can you elaborate on the styles of vent ridges?

    • @larrycrookshanks1646
      @larrycrookshanks1646 3 года назад

      @@sheilacreigsa1575 The University of Illinois did a test comparison on vent ridge back in the early 90s. The ridge vent products with out a side baffle do not work very well. In fact they tend to suppress air flow. I have been installing ridge vent for 50 years and the so called rollout brillo-pad material is junk. Stick with CertainTeed Shingle vent or Gaf product. There are some others. The best still to this day is the aluminum Filtervent.
