Thanks Diane 😊. Life happens! And it's especially hard when you have a full time job on top of this lol. Finding the balance between pushing myself but giving myself grace too. Thanks for watching 😊
Thanks to ladies like you, I had a very successful 2023. Very! This year my goal is to maintain the healthy hair I’ve achieved and let it grow! Right now my hair is the longest and healthiest it’s ever been. I plan to keep going. Don’t tell this 64 yo that old people can’t grow hair. 😏 I’ll prove them wrong. 😍🤩
I can relate NJ because I fell off with the care of my hair starting this past summer. Family & work kept me busy, so I missed my trims & fell off of my regimen causing crazy split ends. I have to keep up with prepooing, deep conditioning & steaming.
I fell off with my hair care regimen as well. Lost several family members, my husband was in and out of the hospital about four times over a six month time frame so I was dealing with that. I’m exhausted, and really unmotivated when it comes to my hair, but I am trying to do better. 😊.
I am so sorry for your losses. I know we want to keep up with our hair routines. But sometimes things in life happen and it may be more important to take care of yourself mentally and emotionally before taking care of the physical. Do what you can. I hope you husband is doing better. And I am wishing you a blessed 2024!
During the holidays, I did go off schedule and waited two weeks before washing my hair. I use a planner to help me with scheduling my wash days and my trims. The planner really helps me stay motivated.
Love that you keep up with your hair using a planner ☺️. I try to add my trims and protein treatments to mine. I should add when I steam in there too. Thanks for watching 🫶🏾
I totally fell of the bandwagon, again, in 2023. That coupled with being in my early sixties was not a good combination. My hair would get so dried out and tangled between cleansings. I ended up with a lot of breakage in the front of my hair and I never have breakage there. Even though, I've been back natural for 15+ years, it's still a struggle at times, especially when you have a busy life. I'm determined to get back on track in 2024.
My favorite and only protein treatment is Curl Junkie Repair Me. I use it once a month for 10 mins and my hair is soft and balanced. I love that product!❤
Thanks for the recommendation 😊. People have been telling me about this protein treatment and it's been on my radar for a while. I need to go ahead and purchase it. Thanks for watching 🫶🏾
I washed my hair every 3-6 weeks for decades while having dreadlocks. Now that my hair is loose I find I need to wash it more, ideally weekly. Even my scalp needs it more. I struggle to get a consistent schedule because I'm not used to so much of my life being taking care of my hair. Even when I washed with locs I couldn't really condition much because it would unknot my hair. I started using a leave-in conditioner after I shampooed the last few years I had them, that's it. Now it's shampoo, deep condition, protein/bond treatment, leave in conditioner, styler. So much more effort so much more frequently. I wore a lot of pull on wigs the first year of unlocking my hair, but now that it's longer and nicer looking I tend to want to show it. Not good for my hair though. I have to get myself to go back to the wigs for Winter I think.
Hey love 🤗. Oh yes, the curls require a lot of attention lol. But it looks like you have a good routine going. Hoping we can protective style more in 2024. Thanks for watching ❤️
Oh I fell off so bad last year. But we're gonna do it right in 2024. Scheduling regular trims and deep conditioning treatments, washing every 2 weeks instead of 3-4 weeks (yikes), and figuring out better ways to style my hair so wash day doesn't feel like a chore. This includes stretching my hair every wash day and giving my hair with protective styles via wigs/braids every now and then.
Yes we fell off but 2024 is our year! 😊 I am thinking about wearing my hair more stretched out as well. Did not mention it in the video but I think I want to blow out my hair more than just for a trim. Thanks for watching love 😘
Clicked immediately ❤❤😂😂😂Your hair looks great ❤❤I’m glad you’re getting into the headband wigs because I’ve been wanting to do that too 😂😂Glad you’re off the struggle bus 🚌I did pretty good, but in 2024 I would like to incorporate simple DIY natural hair products.
Hi Nisha! I’m all late but knew I’d have time to watch when doing my own hair. I’m currently under the steamer now, since you mentioned it in your video. I def fell off with my at-home hair care. Idk who I thought I was washing every 3-4 weeks, like my hair showed out bc of it and I don’t blame it. I was consistent with my salon appts and trims which is what I think saved my hair. My crown need extra attention and I wasn’t giving it-it shows. For this new year I plan to get back to my Ayurvedic products and diys as well as be consistent with prepooing-bc I was def skipping that. Whew!
Hey Tondra ☺️. It's been so hard to stay consistent but we can do it for 2024! Your hair has been looking so good and I would have never guessed you were struggling like me lol.
I fell off by not doing my regular Shikakai treatments which help to retain moisture , strengthen & lengthen my bouncy curls & maintain my twistout longer. I caused major damage by forgetting to switch products when I decided to straighten my hair. Lost a lot of hair due to extreme knots & tangles. Now on the road to recovery. Enjoyed this video!
Girl, this natural world is SO confusing. SOOOOO many stylist now say, "Protection from what?". I never keep braids, twists in longer than 4-6pm and I wash and condition as needed. I don't GET why they are so fired up about Braids/twists being so horrible!
Hey love 💕. Yes there are so many opinions about different natural hair topics. I think braids are fine as long as you don't keep them in for too long and take care of your hair/keep it moisturized while they are on the braids. I have not had any bad effects from it. Thanks for watching 😊
You should try the Pattern Beauty Treatment Mask as a protein treatment. And curlsmith has a bigger bottle of the bond curl rehab salve and its on sale in at ulta
NJ Eberhart, your hairstyle and makeup look so pretty! A good tip is to use betaine on wash day. Betaine is the true moisturizer for dry hair that prevents tangles, breakage, damage but many naturals are not using it. Ytube vid: betaine hair moisturizer
I did good with my regimen in 2023. But I did extension styles 3 times and each time lost some of my edges because my protective styling maintenance is trash! The unfortunate part is my edges at baseline were not that great, I think from doing high puffs. Hopefully I can nurture them back in 2023. I am going to try The Ordinary's hair serum.
Girl same! Last year wasn't the best for my hair. I am working on figuring out how soon I need to get my trims. I always end up going when my ends are so messed up so I need to go way before then. Also, I haven't tried it yet, but I purchased the Camille Rose Nangai & Tsubaki strength restore protein treatment during the Black Friday sale. I'm hoping I'll like it since the Botanika one is no longer available.
Hey love 💕. Figuring out the trim schedule takes some time for sure. I would suggest trims every 3 months and adjust from there. Maybe add an additional week or 2 between trims to see what really works for you. I have actually tried the Camille Rose protein treatment and really like. I need to revisit soon Thanks for watching ☺️
Hey NJ .. thanks for sharing with us 🥰💙.. I think a lot of us fell off and I had two trims in 2023 and before that it was almost a year 🤦🏾♀️.. yes I’m also going to get my trims every 4 months.. just trying to stay consistent with everything! 🤞🏾
Thanks so much for the suggestions ☺️. The Curl Junkie repair me has been on my list for a while so I need to go ahead and purchase. Thanks for watching love 💕
I myself haven’t done a protein treatment since May ‘23 🤦🏾♀️. I have one bottle of “The Mender” from Botanika left. I have the Bond Salve by Curlsmith, haven’t used it yet.
Thank you love 💕. I have used both of those deep conditioners and love them. I am more so looking for protein treatments that are a little bit stronger. Thanks for watching ☺️
Hey love. I band my hair at night and sleep with a bonnet for wash n go. For a twist out I just put my bonnet it. I got to LBC Tresses in Lawrenceville, GA for my trims.
😅 I should have done a close up of my ends but they were really bad. I had some good length before, just didn't retain any additional length in 2023 because I had to trim those dead ends. Thanks for watching ☺️
we all gone get our lives together in 2024 😭
Yes ma'am! One way or another lol.
I see the struggle has been real for all of us lol! Here’s to getting it together in 2024! Thanks for sharing!
Cheers to that 🥂. No more struggles in 2024! Thanks for watching Mo!
