I don't think BOB did what he did for the same reason. I think this came AFTER the springtime, when he'd already realized his assistants were useless. And they ARE. Bedard's been pointing out how terrible those O coaches are for two years. BOB was just centralizing, not being petty.

The offensive play calling has been seriously bad all year and a huge reason IMO why they never amounted to anything.. No identity, no consistency and no aggression.. They called plays scared all year and seemed to always pass when they should be running and vice versa.. The talent wasn't good this year but they handicapped what ability the players did have with consistently bad play calling and handling the offense and qb with kid gloves all year

I've hated Bill for what he did to Malcolm and Brady and I've been saying the exact same thing but now that I'm a little distanced from the emotion of this awful season, I'm starting to think moving on from Bill might leave us at the bottom of the league longer than sticking it out. I just don't see anyone coming in here and turning this offense around while keeping the defense as good as it's been with a total rebuild.. It's really a lesser of 2 evils in my mind to try to make it work with Bill.. Find any way way to help build an offense to go with Bills defense and bite the bullet.. I just fear us becoming a revolving door at HC and thus being a bottom 5 team for years to come.. At least Bill has some clout and has done it before and he does have the defense playing really well even tho they're injured.. Idk.. Were between a rock and a hard place regardless smh..

Sadly this is why I think Mayo shouldn’t take over for Bill. I hope the Krafts take the time to properly interview people for the job, keep an open mind to all the candidates and go outside the Belichick tree for their next staff. If it doesn’t work out, and Mayo happens to be available in a few years after hopefully experiencing a different or multiple different environments, then bring him back and let him have a shot. If it does work out, then hopefully it will work out for everyone currently on the staff elsewhere as well, but this situation calls for a full refresh imo.

People really are so dumb. I can't believe the narrative has now shifted to "it's the media's fault - they want Bill out" and everyone seems to ignore not only the past 5 years of football, but the past 10-12 of drafting, the past three of coaching assistant changes, and the myriad of other issues that have cropped up recently. Belichick is the coach and GM of this team. The past 5 years of football performance can be directly attributed to his performance in both roles. 0-2 in the playoffs, 3/4 losing seasons. Missed draft picks, missed free agent signings....I mean, come on. I don't love the fact that it seems like Bill has not adapted and appears to have lost his fastball, but you have to be realistic. If after these last five seasons you want to bring back the coach who refused to play Butler in the most important game of the season(I mean, the guy only played 97% of the defensive starts that season, so a healthy scratch was certainly due at some point), then you really have lost your collective minds.

What are you even talking about? You completely disregarded Jones' rookie season where they were 10-7 with a real OC in McDaniels, who also happened to be one of "Bill's guys". He left and then he brought in a defensive coach as an offensive coach. No team does that. The offense Patricia ran was basic at best and easy for teams to scheme against. Yes, they had success with a better performing offensive line, a better running game, and at least a consistent receiver in Meyers. Henry also wasn't bad. The offensive line plays like garbage now, they can't run the ball, receivers have league worst separation....do you see the problem? It's not a scheme issue. It's a talent issue. Yes, Jones has not played well. At all. But don't think that switching to Zappe was ever going to somehow magically change everything. They still commit dumb special teams penalties, and the rest of the issues are there. Add to that the fact that Zappe is just not a starter right now. This team is 4-12 with 99% of the staff that Bill wanted, so I don't understand what your argument is. That O'Brien is responsible for all of these issues? If you really think Bill has zero liability with where they are right now then I'm sure some very nice man has land to sell you on Mars. Real cheap.

Nagy is a bad OC. I’d rather Bieniemy or Johnson
