v8bloke My god that sounds amazing. This car, right here has GOT to be the best sounding rover v8 I've ever heard. The 4.6 in my disco (Check my channel, I do a 0-80 or so and some sound vids) sounds nothing like it. Pure awesome.
Loved watching you drive this, your driving is so smooth and precise. Im at Silverstone a lot, would love to put a few laps like this down, still learning though.
Great driving! The Evo driver should have laid waste to you way before he did! Especially with 540bhp! Says alot for your driving skill, and his! Nice going...
Sounds great through headphones, kept waiting for the rear to 'twitch' but held nicely to the asphalt.... Lost count the amount of times I kept slamming me right foot down coming outta the corners & onto the straight !!! Thank you for the upload.
Like the blue BMW going sideways in the back ground about 1 min 10 seconds :) Yes seems to work fine. Mines slows the car down above about 120mph, you can feel the drag. But the extra weight and down force improve the handling a lot.
Great video as I have had 2 V8 B's, a new 1973 MGB GT V8 & a used 1974 Costello V8 Roadster. Just love the sound of V8's ...:-) The trouble with track days is that you get people in cars like the little Vauxhall who might not have raced before and are not sure what to do when a faster car comes up behind. Can be very dangerous !!!!
Great driving. The way the douchebag in the EVO pulled away on the straights and stayed planted on all fours through turns, he should have smoked you. But luckily, he was sloppy taking the the outside line late and making corrections while entering the apex instead of allowing the car to oversteer a little and correct in a drift you kept on him. Great control of an MG. Wish I could see the setup. Tube chassis? Coil overs? They are light cars. Imagine 100 extra ponies and a LOT of down force, you would be a killing machine out there.Robo Classic.
That Video surely justifies your rearspoiler as I said yesterday in the earlier one. It really is a remarkable demonstration of your Car's performance and of your driving capabilities as well. Especially with that modern kit basically breathing in your neck the whole time. I am more and more thinking of swapping my Stag with an MGB- GT V8, slightly tuned primarily for road use on Classic Car Rallies and occasional track days. In the meantime I will watch your Videos as appetizer. Cheers Harry
Wins on exhaust note alone. Sharp driving. MG seems to have perfect gearing. Very torqy at top end of each gear gives you plenty to blast out of each corner with. On paper, the evo should have made at least half a lap on you, so you can hold your head high with the performance of your B coupled with your brilliant driving skills. Take the 4WD advantage off that evo, and it would have been a completely different race. Congratulations.
Superb, love the sound of a V8, own one myself. How does your MGB compare on the track v the new Nissan GTR's? Im guessing they are dispatched with ease ? :)
Fantastic car and a great video! Congratulations on both! I have an RV8 that I'm looking to get similar power from. I'm thinking of going for a 4.8 with EFI and assume I'll need a new gearbox and clutch. What are you using? I currently have the R380. Many thanks in advance.
Great video bud, I knew it was going to be an entertaining session between you and Hayden after chatting to you in the pit lane (I got the Evo with orange wheels) can I ask what video recording system you are using and I like the picture in picture setup? Cheers :)
it's hard to judge the stopping distances from the confines of my couch but I did see a couple of times that you could of been a bit more aggressive in the turns or even used the cars you passed as a "shield" especially after the straight. I'm sure you noticed the the evo was fast in the straights but slow in the curves.
Yes you are quite right I could have been much more aggressive in the turns. I think this was the first test of the then new rear wing so was not sure how hard to push. Great fun though. The wing now has automatic variable downforce depending on car speed ( see vids ). Also This year I have replaced the leaf springs with a custom 4 link with coilovers and a mumord linkage. Early tests show that I can jump on the power a lot sooner in the bends without the rear trying to overtake the front. new £5.0L engine being fitted in November! hoping for well over 400bhp and more oommph down the straights. Should have new vid up next week. Cheers
Amazing video, amazing. What's it like to own a car with a real engine, real sounds, real smells, real handling and real raw power. Most of all, what's it like to drive one. Its a bit faster than my classic fiat 500...lol I want one, going to sell the house, wife and kids.
Thanks, LoL. Its fun to drive but needs a lot of respect especially when its wet. It is possible to build a car like mine for £15k or less depending on spec. Working on more upgrades at the moment. Coilover live axle setup with a stronger axle as it keeps twisting driveshafts. Also new big valve cylinder heads which should take the power to over 400bhp if im lucky. Cheers
You definitely seemed to have an edge on the direction changes , maybe the weight advantage helps . It did seem that you were maybe in the wrong gear coming out of some corners but that is easy for me to say sitting on the couch and not being there . Love the car though , you just cant beat a well sorted V8 for sound .
EVOS are designed for rally, IRC and WRC, not for GP driving at silverstone, EVOS are 4WD ... put both on the gravel and then you see. hole different cars.. Nice engine sound of the v8, love the v8's :)
Its been built from the ground up as a Track car, 4wd in any situation is supposed to be superior. The issue here is simple "Torque" rules, the Evo could out corner the GT in every way, the video shows this, but the outright torque of that V8 compensates come straight line.
+GFB Developments, just reminded me of that talk, in a straight line you only need a Big engine, on the corners you need to be a good pilot :) just a mark here, Evo's at IRC and WRC are capped Max at 300Bhp
Need another gear to work the motor better in its power range, good for its power. Lancer was nervous on turn in, all the power in the world is worthless if setup is wrong and driver not able to assess correctly.
Yes it is fairly high geared with a 3.07 diff. Would love a 6 speed sequential but haven't got £8k to spare. Engine making more torque now (400) which helps. Cheers.
v8bloke wow!! stuff is high over there. Ever thought about getting stuff like your transmission from usa? It would save you tons of money even with the shipping cost.We have lots of transmiisions in our salvage yards that would be perfect for your car.
Thanks! Hopefully I should have some more power for this year so might be able to stay with the Evos down the straights. Cant wait to get it back on track.
Evo’s are rubbish. I talk from experience, the most overrated car I’ve ever had. Full of poor design, poor quality, and inherent body shape design causing serious rust issues in a staggeringly short time, and far too heavy compared to the GC8 subaru equivalent of their time. The MGB is not perfect either, but hats off to who built this, far more interesting than an Evo, I salute you, sir!
I agree, the Evo appeared to be badly set up and shouldn't understeer like it did and the MG has so many flaws due to its dated suspension, geometry and poor fuelling. But one thing I do know is that the MG is so much fun and challenging to drive. Puts a grin on my face every time.
That V8 is just savage, the downshifts are amazing!!
New 5.0L engine with TA heads is now up and running. Approx 430bhp now so I should be making some interesting videos this year.

v8bloke awesome car thinking about putting a lexus v8 in mine did you have to do any frame and body reinforcing

Sensational...the hairs on the back of my neck standing up. The way it ate the Porsche was delicious. Love it when old takes on new.

That noise! Never gets old xD

When i'm angry and far away from my car, i just play this a couple times and i'm good to face the day again. Keep that machine going......please.

awsome driving , awsome video ...
love watching the evo behind you
Awesome dual guys . Loved it . Am building a 350 chev MGB GT ( Sebring Style) at the moment , and cannot wait to get out amongst it . Cheers

Considering the legs the mitubishi has and all of its nee fangled technology, that little lightweight MGB just sits on his bumper in the corners.
That 2.0 Evo is a Beast..
Great vid - thanks for posting - your car seems much faster than when I followed you at Combe!
Wins on exhaust note alone.

Some great driving going on there, great video too.
Beautiful car man, I hope to V8 swap my B on my channel when my boys get a bit older!
Thanks, my advice would be to do it right the first time as can save a lot of cost. Making the right choices is the difficult part. Good luck.
Superb, love the sound of a V8, own one myself. How does your MGB compare on the track v the new Nissan GTR's? Im guessing they are dispatched with ease ? :)
awesome. l need to learn how to do some of this to my MGB GT
Fantastic car and a great video! Congratulations on both! I have an RV8 that I'm looking to get similar power from. I'm thinking of going for a 4.8 with EFI and assume I'll need a new gearbox and clutch. What are you using? I currently have the R380. Many thanks in advance.
Hi I use 2 Gopro cameras and edit the footage with Adobe Premier elements 10. The software is about fifty quid and i find it easy to use. Cheers
from the sound..EVO had major problems with understeering aint it?? his front tires where heating up after 5 min video..;)
i was here watching, awesome car! well done!

v8bloke can't wait to see the new engine and suspension setup. Keep up the good work and fun videos.
love the B and always will

hell yeah. give it hell lil MGB.

Cheers, Its got a lot of low end torque too so it makes me a bit lazy with the gearchanges.
Is that a Deronda at 15s? I thought they never got built?
nic run, v8 sounds good too, throw some boost on that MGB and you'll be golden ;)
So intense!
great video, i was in the 12.00 session in my wrx

+Helio Aguiar Oh of course, you have to admit though, this GT can corner well for a car of 60s design origin.
+GFB Developments you got that right, nice and stable. just love the part when it comes out of corners, seems like all hell break lose :)
ya but this is the track and it showed up, no gravel...hypothetical blast here!! i mean shopping cart status here
Nicely done!
Pure Eargasm....
if you are all engine the what kind of compression ratio? you should have been higher on the rpms!!!
CR is 10.8:1 max power at about 5800
Hi. Are you selling the old 4.6? Would be interested in bying it :)
olav eeg Or have you stroked the same engine?
olav eeg Hi, Sorry engine was sold as parts late last year on ebay.
Need another gear to work the motor better in its power range, good for its power. Lancer was nervous on turn in, all the power in the world is worthless if setup is wrong and driver not able to assess correctly.

Think you might be right.
Your driving skills are great but you need to work on your gear shifting skills. They were often slow and sloppy. Maybe switch to a inline shifter?
Well it is a 2wd version of a Range rover gearbox. Need sequential but at £9k it aint happening anytime soon. Cheers
v8bloke wow!! stuff is high over there. Ever thought about getting stuff like your transmission from usa? It would save you tons of money even with the shipping cost.We have lots of transmiisions in our salvage yards that would be perfect for your car.
steve lee a good 6 speed would make a world of difference in your car.
Not really a vs, open track day! Driver skills +1!
9.54 TYPE-R GETS RINSED 😂😂😂
7 little thumbs down - must be evo lovers xD
By 'eck!!!
The EVO does have some Power, but he needs better brakes and learn how to use them. Your driving is excellent !
Thanks! Hopefully I should have some more power for this year so might be able to stay with the Evos down the straights. Cant wait to get it back on track.
norris designs evo no match for the monster that is mark!!!!
Evo’s are rubbish. I talk from experience, the most overrated car I’ve ever had. Full of poor design, poor quality, and inherent body shape design causing serious rust issues in a staggeringly short time, and far too heavy compared to the GC8 subaru equivalent of their time.
The MGB is not perfect either, but hats off to who built this, far more interesting than an Evo, I salute you, sir!
ain't no tellin how fast it would be with a decent driver
the MG or the Evo Lol
Don't mean to be too critical. I have a V-8 powered 90 BMW and it could be better but is fun to drive.
Don't think either one cuts it.
I agree, the Evo appeared to be badly set up and shouldn't understeer like it did and the MG has so many flaws due to its dated suspension, geometry and poor fuelling. But one thing I do know is that the MG is so much fun and challenging to drive. Puts a grin on my face every time.
Evos far better car even if it needs a driver mod
shopping cart awd....
these r not car the toys for assholes
