Getting lots of questions about how to apply CPM formulas to Twitch streams. I didn't explain this well, sorry! CPM would work on the same basis, but you take V90 (average views over 90 days) to the "unique viewers" you have. There's two ways to do this: 1) Average your VOD views over 90 days. Your VOD views are the total views your stream got for that livestream. 2) Go to somewhere like - sullygnome.com/channel/amouranth/90 - find your channel, sort by 90, divide by 3. So for example, this would be 32,000,000 / 3 = 10.6 mil, then 10,666,666 / 1000 = 10,666 * (CPM) - at $5, that would come in at $53,330 for a month of ads on Amouranth's stream. If that sounds high - it's because it's worth noting that Twitch has a completely different pricing structure because of the livestream format. This is because not every view gets an impression of an ad. On RUclips this is the difference between "monetized views" and "unmonetized views." Not all your views get an ad. RUclips sorts this out for you automatically but Twitch doesn't. So what I would do is cut it in half (50%) for adblock and no-ad viewers, and you get $26,665. But then there's a further problem that the ad would have to run the entire 90 days to reach that full value. So you can start to see how this gets super complicated. You can't 1:1 this formula over for ads on Twitch because that is a theoretical price (what she ought be worth) but the market isn't mature enough to support that (as it is in television, RUclips, other places." This would require a video in of itself that's 50+ minutes but the short of it is - this is why companies like Novo exist, because we run objective complex algorithms with these considerations. A far more reliable methodology than using flat views on Twitch is viewer hours. But it requires a totally different methodology and algorithm. A solution for Twitch streamers is to set a rate reasonable to the expectation of product conversions and a fixed monthly rate supporting you based on monthly earnings of RUclipsrs at similar sizes. Ugh, this post opens up more questions than it answers. I'll make a video someday on pricing Twitch streamers. Sorry. Just remember me when you're all billionaires, thanks.
Performance Marketer here - please listen to what Devin says on how to price your sponsorship. The times deals did not get approved by clients because the influencer had no idea on how to price themselves is astonishing. Every single client I know of would HAPPILY work out a CPL/CPA/CPS type of deal or give you a revshare agreement instead of being charged at a flat CPM rate.
Isn't that because it basically becomes free advertising. I feel like Devin has done a video stating that they are terrible because most viewers won't click or buy shit.
@@asdafafsafda that depends on how it's structured. Most deals I know of and have worked on are usually a hybrid model. So you'll get a lower CPM but the kicker makes not only up for it, it increases the volume massively if you have the right audience. If you do not believe in your audience being the right fit then why advertise a product/service in the first place. Instead of asking for say $40CPM which the brand might not take, you can offer them $25CPM + X per sale/lead/whatever - which almost anyone will take as it's quantifiable and establishes trust with them. That is super important to many brand owners in my experience. If you just ask for a high CPM they might take it or won't, if they think it's too high - but if you can "prove" you know your audience and numbers they're most likely willing to give you a much bigger share of the profits while they're more likely to actually want to work out a deal. So if you were looking at a video with say 50k views and we'll use Devin's example of $30CPM we would look at 1,5k with a flat CPM - if instead you'll charge half of it at $15CPM + get a revshare or CPA you only need to make a few sales/leads to get more out of it in total (of course depending on the industry/product/LTV). We have a client in the pet nutrition space and they're able to pay about up to $70 per new customer - that would mean you'D only need ~11 sales to breakeven. Assuming 3% CTR and 2% CR (which sould be much higher given a good fit of your audience) you'd get about 30 sales. Which would mean you'd get another $1330 on top of what you would have gotten if you went with the $30CPM + you have shown the brand you can drive sales/leads/whatever and thus they're more likely to work with you on a longer basis. I hope that made sense :)
I have a question about something I don't think was included in the video. What about the transaction part of things? Do you ask for half up front? How long does it usually take to get paid?
I start my first "sponsorship" today. Wish I had seen this video first but also maybe not cuz I only have 60 average viewers. I e-signed a very generic contract that doesn't say much. And I use business PayPal to generate an invoice for me to be paid at the end of the month. So the funds will show up in PayPal. I assume can update you next month.
@@VentusOfficiall yea that's why I didn't take that pay out option. I imagine for smaller streamers might be a comfort thing. They company contacted me so it's definitely one of those moments like is this legit?

24 minutes in and loving every second. It's brilliant listening to people who are passionate about their subject matter and know it backwards and forwards
The email structures reinforced my own methods and makes me feel much better about how I am approaching people. I have been told that what I am getting paid for my current sponsorship is unusually high for my size, but after breaking down the engagement and conversion, I can now see where the sponsor saw the value. This has made me much more confident in my rates, thank you.
Here’s my engagement contribution that only serves the purpose of making Devin feel better. I would suggest the product you’re selling is your Patreon. You may not intend to do the videos for that reason, but it’s something that is happening. You don’t post all your informative videos on RUclips, just the ones you probably feel appeal to a lot of people. But when you provide so much value in one “free” video, it makes people want to pay to see your others. Just a feels good comment, you’re doing great and I hope one day to be able to work for you.
So just to make sure, you would add these together. (Impression rate+ Engagement rate+ click rate+ buy rate) or you choose winch assessment you want to go off of and charge that?

This video went SO quickly, thank you for the video Devin! I was recently approached by a company to work in collaboration with my videos (first collab opportunity that looked legit), but they continuously emphasized they wanted me to do a full video on the product instead of a 30 second reel after the introduction, which I won't do as I feel like they wouldn't sit well with my audience/content in general. I think the advice I'll take from this video is to focus more so on the content for the time being still got a long way to go. Here after the point you wanted us to comment btw. Thanks again :)
Looking at your channel I assume its tools or parts for a specific item, the video idea could just be your normal stuff "I try to fix X and get a profit" but using their product with a 30 second ad read and multiple mentions of the product. I see Ifixit in a bunch of video and its always "This video is sponsored by Ifixit" and then they mention in the video how useful whatever tool they are using is for getting whatever out. If its not then your gut is right and its probably not going to help your channel.
Made it all the way through the video and it’s crazy because everything mentioned seems like common sense, but how many of us would not think to do these simple steps? Even when I streamed (prior to deployment) it’s just a fun side gig. But once any growth is experienced by a channel, these minimal steps would make a huge difference. Good shit, Devin 🤙🏻
Love this, as someone who works on the opposite sides of creators in the gaming industry, this is pretty spot on for an industry standard, and definitely just email companies! Love this. My podcast currently only gets about 50 downloads an episode so I've got a looong way to go. But I'll definitely be coming back to this when it's time to start reaching out to sponsors. 23 minute gang.
I'm sitting at 1.7k subs with an average of about 3k views per video (Range is ~500 to ~9k) and I have sponsors reach out to me fairly frequently. I don't personally reach out to sponsors as I'm focusing on growing my channel. I'm in a bit of a tough position right now, because a potential sponsor that I'd LOVE to work with reached out to me and I have a call with them in an hour. 👀
23:53 Always here Devin. Always taking the few extra steps to not be a toxic parasocial viewer and instead listening carefully and taking notes so I can use them for myself in whatever way will end up working out for me.
Watched the whole thing. Currently I'm a "nobody" trying to figure the absolute fundamentals: myself. After that I'd like to hone my value and create a brand, so I'm a long way from taking a sponsorship. Even if I never take a sponsorship deal, this video has taught me things that I should just know in general. Maybe pass to others, so they avoid dumb mistakes. Thank you!
Thank you Devin. I could go on and on as to why, but that would be a very long read. You help a lot more people than you know and you truly have helped me. Thank you.

Currently typing a business guide/model paper for a college class and was referred to Devin Nash. Really good insights on how to monetize your time as a gamer/ streamer. Might put this into action for personal use later on as well.
What's the best way to collect impressions, engagements, clicks, and conversions from a sponsor when starting? What about from affiliate links? Sometimes that data isn't available upfront, or is across many different dashboards
Trying to get my cousin to do influencer marketing for sports and I keep sending her vids to you. Really love how you lay it all out and shows how to be successful in this world
Such an awesome breakdown. Really appreciate the knowledge, Devin! Coming from commercial production, seeing how people undervalue themselves doing video work on youtube is super sad.
Hey Devin, this was super helpful. My videos consistently get upwards of 100k views, and I got emails from a couple different potential sponsors a few months ago, but neither of them accepted the rates I offered based on my CPM. It would definitely help me go full time if I could land some sponsors, but I don't wanna be undervalued. What should I do?
Regardless of when I plan on using this information, I always enjoy a good Devin Nash video. ;) It's so informative, and breaks these things down to a real inside level I appreciate
I particularly found the nitty gritty stuff about the email subject and body useful, using templates and just straightforward steps into how to do this stuff. This is stuff I'm working on in therapy for stuff outside of business so I can only imagine given enough time and effort and once all the cards are right for me I can really utilize all of the information you've shared over the years. Sometimes I think that my "at bat" will never be good enough and sometimes I feel like I've already failed so hard before I even started but then I remember that I'm underestimating myself and also judging myself too harshly. I am not a super egregious brand risk, I don't think, and in the end of the day there's always going to be something for me to focus on and make achievable goals, so I'm staying in for the whole fight. I'm much too young to tap out now.
What about categories that have "channel sponsorship" type deals? I see it a lot in car/woodworking/DIY/etc type stuff (where I'll probably be trying my hand), where I assume the intended audience are more worried about the performance of said product then whatever marketing jargon is spewed at them. Are they usually just free/discounted product for a period of time or is there a flat rate based on past performance plus something else? So my guess would be like: Average impressions last 30 / 1000 * CPM and then multiple that by the length of deal? OR Using average impressions over the last X (however long the deal will be) then average that down to 30 like normal with the rest of the formula extended out to the end of the deal. AND Free or discounted product since if they give you free tool set you'll be using that big branded tool box the rest of your videos even after the deal ends. I assume you want some sort of conversion/clickthrough payment in there too if it is high profit items and they have a storefront to send ref links too/use discount codes.
23min comment marker lets goo detail answers so far to my understanding if your "brand/content" in under all the marks you aren't ready or big enough to search out a sponsor im asking this because what if your "brand/content" needs a sponsor or backing to grow your content to the next level
Just curious on what you think of affiliate programs. Since those are more achievable for smaller numbers. Should it be something to look into or do you think it's a "scam" since it's a lot of work for not much reward depending on your viewer base? (secret call out watch the whole thing!)
Assuming one gets large enough that they can negotiate better deals, how do you get access to the LTV data to make the right 'ask?' Is it appropriate to ask them for that data or do you have to guess that product with a subscription model will probably have a higher LTV than a one-time buy and make up a figure from there?
Worked or not yet, it is still a piece of information that makes the thing a loooot clearer and less foreign than just imagining how it may be done. Great info! I am thinking of start doing this so I really appreciate the video.
A year late to this video but feeling excited for the things to come! Thanks Devin!!! Watched all 45 min 🎉
Thank you for this. I appreciate how you broke it down.
As a a person trying to make it on YT all of your videos give me great insight on what I must do in the future. Also 23 minute mark GANG!
Such an awesome breakdown. Really appreciate the knowledge, Devin! Coming from commercial production, seeing how people undervalue themselves doing video work on youtube is super sad.
Thank you for making this! Now I can refer my community to this!!!
It's INSANE that this video which is absolutely PACKED with value doesn't have more views, thank you Devin!
Cheers from Korea! 23 minutes in so far. Loving the insight! It’s always humbling learning from you on my journey as a creator 👍🏽
Regardless of when I plan on using this information, I always enjoy a good Devin Nash video. ;)
It's so informative, and breaks these things down to a real inside level I appreciate
You are one of these best RUclipsrs on the platform Devin. Thank you.
23 minutes crew. Really valuable info!
How does this work if you most of you’re videos on RUclips are RUclips Shorts? (By the way huge fan! Been listening to you for years!)
love your vids so much info to take in , love it
I particularly found the nitty gritty stuff about the email subject and body useful, using templates and just straightforward steps into how to do this stuff.
So much value dude. Love it
What about categories that have "channel sponsorship" type deals? I see it a lot in car/woodworking/DIY/etc type stuff (where I'll probably be trying my hand), where I assume the intended audience are more worried about the performance of said product then whatever marketing jargon is spewed at them. Are they usually just free/discounted product for a period of time or is there a flat rate based on past performance plus something else?
So my guess would be like:
Average impressions last 30 / 1000 * CPM and then multiple that by the length of deal?
OR
Using average impressions over the last X (however long the deal will be) then average that down to 30 like normal with the rest of the formula extended out to the end of the deal.
AND
Free or discounted product since if they give you free tool set you'll be using that big branded tool box the rest of your videos even after the deal ends.
I assume you want some sort of conversion/clickthrough payment in there too if it is high profit items and they have a storefront to send ref links too/use discount codes.
23min comment marker lets goo detail answers so far to my understanding if your "brand/content" in under all the marks you aren't ready or big enough to search out a sponsor
im asking this because what if your "brand/content" needs a sponsor or backing to grow your content to the next level
Wow. Very helpful. Thank you
THANKS DEVIN!
Just curious on what you think of affiliate programs. Since those are more achievable for smaller numbers. Should it be something to look into or do you think it's a "scam" since it's a lot of work for not much reward depending on your viewer base? (secret call out watch the whole thing!)
Made it to the end. I’m trying to cultivate ideas to build on the information you’ve been providing.
I love the "don't forget to follow the stream" popups, when you aren't streaming lol
23 minutes. Ez. Hope to need this info one day. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge.
This was so helpful thanks Devin!
Hey David, here all the way to the end of the vid. Great topic, thanks for posting.
Assuming one gets large enough that they can negotiate better deals, how do you get access to the LTV data to make the right 'ask?' Is it appropriate to ask them for that data or do you have to guess that product with a subscription model will probably have a higher LTV than a one-time buy and make up a figure from there?
Thank you so much for this video! It's such awesome, detailed info.
Great video, thank's!
Worked or not yet, it is still a piece of information that makes the thing a loooot clearer and less foreign than just imagining how it may be done.
Best place to get best quality information for every person who likes not to go in dark but with some kind of leading information at least (alltho' this is far more informative)! Thank you very much for such videos!
Dang. Here at 23 minutes. Love it
23 minutes in...Always hungry to learn more thank you for your videos 🙏
I like how in depth this goes! Let’s see how I can implement them!
Im still here!
also talking about you making us buy stuff. You mentioned Tom and Holland tea once, now I am a return customer.
Fantastic video, thank toy
Thanks for doing this, Devin. ♥ Just watched it through and took notes all the time.
I may still be a nobody at my level but these videos are always motivating me to keep going and keep pushing! Thank you Devin!
I can listen to u all day ngl especially when u know i watch to the end ik the secret time
Coming back to this video next time I get an email though
Thanks for all of the insightful information Devin, the video was great!
Around 27:27 - I may just be misunderstanding, but your click formula is selling a click at exactly the advertiser’s expected value. Why would they agree to make no money on the click?
23 minutes! Thanks, @Devin! This was an amazing guide to reach out for sponsorships and the formula behind it. I will be implementing this strategy.
🤘😀🤘Tac
23 mins in and normally i would have turned off but this is really useful information. Thanks for diving deep to explain this!
Always watch the entire video, hit that 23 minute point and was wondering when the 'secret' callout was coming. Seriously though, this information is amazingly helpful, and as a stats nerd, feeds my brain.
Thanks Devin for sharing this kind of information, it's usually kinda hard to reach the specifics without being in the industry.
I don't even work in this field but it's really interesting.
Yes I am really interested in it devin! now continue.
New youtuber figuring out the ropes here. Strong at 23 mins, lol. Thanks so much for sharing, super high value content. Cheers from rural Japan. 👋
2:55 Why not smaller. Good explanation, I was wondering at what point sponsoring starts to make sense.
15:15 That is not exponential, it is linear.
23:53 Still here
Finished the video. Pretty good, I was always wondering what smaller creators can charge and now I have the answer.
knowing the numbers is neat, but aktually seeing a starting email felt like the biggest thing to me.
im not a content creator myself, but i think i would have bombarded the influencer partnerships person with all kinds of data and why im the best immediately :D
great video. cheers devin.
The word tracker for minecraft LMAO
This is great -- I figured I was taking offers that were too low, and now I know just how much I'm leaving on the table. I'm still here past the 20 minute mark. :p
Made it thanks brother! I do live talkshows content so i have about 133 that watch not consistently. I have an uphill battle!
42:50 I was totally expecting him to say his favorite brand of water was gamer girl bath water as a joke 🤣
Pretty good info in here man! Thanks!
