Hi Paul… going to start using drill as part of my warm-up routine which is now taking two hours in practice. I then start exactly the same routine before play but no longer than fifteen minutes. It tricks the subconscious to thinking huge amount of work to done but instead you wander down to the first tee. We use this with International swimmer’s: perfect it and it’s a relief to compete at any level. Your practice sessions will keep extending until you reach neural fatigue…then STOP. I have progressed to one three and one two hour sessions a day. Everything in practice must be perfect: the time to enjoy yourself is in competition. Led Zeppelin’s Jimmy Page commented: “if you have to think about it you haven’t practiced enough”… basically your mantra Paul.
Hi Paul - I love this tip - keep it simple - don't start out striving for perfection - get close enough to start with. I am noticing on my morning 100 body swing practices that whether it feels good or bad, I learn something from each swing for my next swing. At age 66, my expectation is to get good enough to not embarrass myself and have fun golfing! I love your teaching methods and apply each tip as a piece to the overall puzzle. I never knew how much fun I would have just swinging golf clubs in the back yard!
Exactly. Glad you picked up on that. Too many people want to be Tiger Woods in 2 seconds. Why not just get it close the refine it over time? The problem is that when they can't do it they quit when really they didn't have to exactly do the move just close would have been a game changer. 66 is young. My students start at about 60 and up so you've got this. So glad you like my teaching. Just as you say one piece at a time. Do that and you will see the whole picture.
This will be good for me to try. There are some gray areas when Im either performing the backswing or downswing which is probably part of my inconsistency. Keeping it simple. Thanks Paul!
Paul, Thank you so much you have changed my golf thought and brought back the enjoyment of playing it. I had given up playing several years ago after seeing no improvement from practicing and lessons. I didn't know, what I didn't know. Through your excellent videos I finally understand what powers a good golf swing and the reasoning behind it. The improvement has been amazing to me I also purchase the SC2000 on your recommendation and Love it.
So glad you understand it and are seeing results. Such a great feeling when you are finally on track. Keep at it. Glad you got the launch monitor. Great to see how you are progressing. Just don't swing harder and harder to get the numbers up. You are using the monitor to check your progress.
Finally got clearance to get back on the course after my motorcycle accident, Monday 9:00 I’m excited but need to not over swing so I’ll keep your tips in mind for first hole jitters
Just swing super easy. This will give you hope: ruclips.net/video/O9jr3G1FF6M/видео.html Watch it and imprint that effort level and looseness in your mind.
@@paulwilsongolf just watched it a great video before accident I was hitting 240 average I’m 74 so I’m keeping this video in mind thanks for caring enough to take the time to comment
Thanks Paul - another excellent tip and easy to apply / practice - your video tip on how to get out of bunkers is the best and most effective method I have ever used - since watching it a couple weeks ago I have hit some great bunker shots and have gotten out of every green side bunker I have found myself in - I carry an 8 handicap , but my bunker play this year has been more like that of a 20 handicapper - until I discovered your “How to Hit Bunker Shots “. video - making just a couple adjustments for the sand and then using your normal swing - brilliant!
Very good. Glad you tried it and were successful. I had a gentleman come from New York just for a bunker lesson. He told me he had taken 10 lessons in a past and no one could get him out. 10 mins later he was a rock star getting ball after ball out. Such a great feeling. This should really help your game so let's get you down to a 4 or 5 hcdp.
Thanks for the nod to George Knudson. My friend Lorne Rubenstein collaborated with him on his 1988 book, The Natural Golf Swing, one I often return to. I find some significant similarities between Knudson’s teaching and yours, specifically his emphasis on the swinging motion, passive arms, and not “hitting” the ball, e.g., “It’s the legs that carry the arms and hands. The arms and hands merely go along for the ride.” (p. 32) Anyway, thanks for your consistently useful tips.
Unfortunately, I never had a chance to meet him. Great swing. We are certainly on the same page. I base my concepts on Iron Byron. Clearly explains "why" not hitting is how you want to do it. Glad you like the tips. George legend lives on.
Shoot! Already went to the range this morning now I feel like going back and it’s a 1000 degrees here in St. Augustine. Lol. Think I’ll do this a bunch of times in the living room as usual. Really like this drill. Always have trouble wondering how to get the backswing set right.
I tried your drill where you hit 2/3 of your normal distance. When I tried this at the range today, I was hitting near my full distance with just my hips. I was shocked. I see now that I was hitting with my arms and that was actually hindering my speed/contact. I still can't hit my 7 iron 2/3 distance with good contact but I am getting there.
So glad you tried it and are seeing the results. No reason to ever go back to hitting. This is a swing you can do forever. For 7 iron tee it up a finger height then gradually lower the tee. Teed up gives you room for error.
Fantastic. Getting rid of that should take your game to a whole new level. I am working on getting to my left. I used to fire from my right but had hip pain for about 5 years (better now) but the swing aggravated it. Just hard to get left when you have been firing from the right for so long. Easiest way to feel it is to lift the heel. Lift it pretty good as you go back. The more it comes up the more you slam it down. Got to be careful not to send it over the top too. Lean left and you will probably swing left unless you go back before impact.
@@paulwilsongolf also I do not finish my swing over my shoulders. Not sure if that is due to bad shoulders but I do more of a touch my left shoulder and then bring it back straight. I guess like if you were casting a fishing rod type of finish. My belly is pointing at target though
Hi Paul. I really enjoy your videos and want to purchase the Body Swing Bundle. Can you confirm there are chapters and videos for short game, particularly chipping? I have the chip yips. Your videos have been so helpful with my full swing so I’m hoping they can help my short game as well. Thank you!
The Body Swing is just on the swing. Included in the bundle is 30 days access to my golf tips membership. There are over 100 short game tips posted taking you through pitching, bunkers, chipping and putting so everything is covered. After 30 days you can decide if you want to remain a member or not. Totally up to you so yes, you would be covered if you decided to purchase the bundle. Thanks for your interest and support.
I have my orginally swing machine golf short game series still available. Due to people asking I was thinking about bundle my 100 short game tips and offering them to body swing customers. I need to go through them and create a product. These would be the tips I was referring to. May do that this week.
I always look and learn from your movie. I want to know one thing please answer me. I use powerless or effortless grip pressure and loose arm and wrist but I can not load the project X lz graphite shaft which have loading zone in mid section. so can yuo answer me how to load that shaft with effortless power?
That might not be the right shaft for you. There is no standard to golf shafts. Each company makes their own shafts with their own flexes. You load the shaft by turning your body first and allowing the arms to follow. If you are not getting that you are moving the club before your body. You need to turn your arms off even more. Most people I see are never lose enough.
Hi Mr Wilson. My brother who I’m trying to introduce to your swing would like me to ask you if he is supposed to feel the club whip through impact and if centrifugal force is supposed to pull his arms straight. He says he is not feeling that but thinks he should. Thank you for any advice you can give him.
Most people never loosen to the degree I want them too. If your arms were tight and you totally loosened then yes, you would feel the club pull your arms out. The whole club is a weight, your arms are like string, your body is like your hand twirling it. So turn your body and do nothing to the string. If so, the weight (club) would pull the string out 100% of the time. So if he is not feeling it he needs to loosen more.
You are rolling it from the top until you rarely every have slice spin on any club in your bag. At this point the release is working (yes it's too early but it is working). Then you start adding lower body until the ball flies dead straight. Wrists are spin body is direction. ruclips.net/video/M868QsTlGt4/видео.html ruclips.net/video/p4vASmOzkPg/видео.html ruclips.net/video/N-nGM6yN790/видео.html ruclips.net/video/yHEv7G9Z5-0/видео.html
Well, not sure about that. I have had numerous students over the years come out for lessons with hernias and they were not saying it hurt. Just depends on where it is, what stage it is at and how easy you are swinging. I am not doctor. Hopefully, you are careful and not overdoing anything and going to get it looked after into the future. I would be careful with any physical movement if you have a hernia. Watch me swing in this tip and see how much clubhead speed I can get putting nothing into it: ruclips.net/video/O9jr3G1FF6M/видео.html After seeing that you should realize you don't have to swing hard to get some serious speed.
A lot of the stuff people do in their swings just seems so nonsensical to me. I don't get how they think, especially after playing for years supposedly, the weird move they are doing will get good results. I'm not trying to sound pretentious, it's just that with RUclips these days, you have alllll the good information you need, like mr. Paul Wilson here.
Yes, I scratch my head all the time watching swings thinking how could someone come up with a move like that especially after seeing the simplicity of a pros swing. Simple is the key. Coil/uncoil ... hinge/rehinge. That would get anyone the shape of the swing. Thanks for the support. I appreciate it.
If you are practicing not all shots will be perfect because you are working on things. Too many people want to hit every shot perfectly before they have a swing that is capable of doing that.
@@paulwilsongolf Totally agree Paul. Failure is your best friend when coaching or being coached. Specifically applied to golf: when you fail it feels wrong. When you get it right then ball will react as required and your body and mind will react in a very positive way. Typical example: a grip change will feel terrible but if the advice is sound a bucket of balls will have it in place. if you go back to the old grip at your next practice immediately you know it's wrong. If your teacher is an idiot you can hit a thousand balls and it will never work. Unfortunately for every one Paul Wilson's there are ninety nine very poor teachers of the game... choose carefully.
