@@Hs5687 Ask yourself truthfully... where were you when we were defending Singapore in 1965?? What did you contribute to Singapore's build-up? Why are you still staying in Singapore if you are not satisfied with the country?
As a young, fledging nation then and even now, it's important for Singapore to show its citizens and the rest of the world that it had the unity and credible means and deterrence to defend its sovereignty, way of life and values. As much as nation-building, it's also about confidence-building.
Singapore is one admirable and inspiring country the smallest nation in South East Asia that is and has been doing the right thing internationally and domestically. Keep up the great work Singapore!
As a soldier in 2 SIR, I was part of the 2 SIR contingent, When we formed up at 7.30 am, it began to rain. We were drenched, however, one hour before the arrival of our 1st President Yushof the rain stopped. When the ministers arrived, the rain had stopped. We were carrying the SLRs and the other contingents were carrying the No. 4 Enfield rifles. Only the SAFTI contingents carried the AR 15 automatic rifles. We did not have the mobile columns as we only had rifles, bayonets and parangs. After the President reviewed the parade, we marched to our dispersal point at Queenstown. and the rain came down heavily. There were people lining up the roads to cheer us even in the rain. It was very touching and memorable. Although we were very tired carrying the SLRs, the loud cheers from the crowd standing in the rain with umbrellas, some with cardboards over their heads and some with newspapers gave us the motivation and strength to march on. With only rifles, bayonets, parangs and our fighting spirit, we were strong and brave to defend our country.
The tanks came in in 1969 ! We only have rifles then. The SLRs and Enfield NO. 4 rifles were what we had then. We only had these weapons - nothing else!!
This video showed the full parade. There were no mobile columns or the entertaining shows. Not even the Hunters and Pumas. (which only came in in 1969). We only had SLRs, No. 4 Enfield rifles, beyonets, parangs and "Jack knives" to defend Singapore.
Ya... we got the steel helmets and liners from UMPC and these were the thrown away items by the US Army. Those in 1 SIR wore the British "turtle" helmets.
Those were the days when our leaders were more like us in incomes and lifestyles, but right now our Ministers are all millionaires and are living in GCB and dining out at 3-stars Michelin restaurants.
THOSE WERE THE DAYS.....GOD BLESS SINGAPORE CITIZENS.....GET A FREEHOLD HOME...THIS LAND IS MINE....GOD GAVE THIS LAND TO CITIZENS.....🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 HAPPY MOTHERS DAY.. 12MAY2024
Thank you to all the pioneers who helped shape Singapore to what it is today!

Forward Singapore!
Thank you to all pioneers of Singapore
A very humble beginning with a glory ending is yet to come.

I was probably in the JTC parade contingent. Involved in a few parades than. I am 76 yrs old now.
God bless all & SG 👍👏
I was there as a spectator and a teenager. It was quantity over quality, as we need to display deterrence until we build the economy.

Seeing the traditional Chinese 星嘉坡is so heart warming and beautiful.
Truly Singaporeans pride at its peak. Serves as a reminder that we have come a long way though the path was never rosey.
Majulah singapura
Nice video. 2 thumbs up❤❤❤
I think you missed showing the newly acquired AMX-13 tanks on the parade in 1969. They were the first tanks in the Malayan peninsula.

Singapura Oh...Singapura...
The bird flew Away...the Lion still roaring🎉🎉
It was President Yusof. In Cantonese we called him: 游水褲 (bathing trunk)🤣🤣
Do we actually have a full video of the first NDP? Never seem to have seen it?

Those were the good old days led by LKY and the pioneers. Now the good times are gone.

Sad reminder of Singapore's good past.
What’s wrong with it now? 😢
Why is that sad? Haha
*Dios bendiga a Indonesia~*
Around 1965, Singapore was the poorest country in SEA. Now 2024, she is the richest 😂🇸🇬👍❤️❤️❤️
