Wishing you the best to be honest the hair loss becomes just a small part of your journey. I pray for you a full recovery and during that time when your hair grows back that symbolises a rebirth, or a new chapter in your life. We are born with no hair that is why it can be considered a rebirth moving forward

Before you shaved them, with doing the short cuts I was going to say it's cool idea fundraiser to do unique/quirky cuts/colours rather than just shave them. I know following you on Instagram that you did a mental health fundraiser daredo that was a great concept as very few people and especially women are keen on shaving. 💇🏼‍♀️🧑🏼‍🦲

Yes I actually prefer to do haircuts for charity and generally don’t get involved in the head shave ones, I would rather show amazing work cut and colour because it leaves a positive impact, especially for mental health awareness. The head shaving is common with cancer fundraising but it doesn’t have to be for everyone, an awesome makeover has big impact too and it shows off our craft as hairstylists

@@retrohaircuts And you do a great job at it so he promoting mental health 👍👏 I understand the shave for cancer to do with chemo and hair loss. I just think it's run it's course in NZ personally.
It's still a big deal for women to do the big chop without shaving it all and people will get behind in fundraising just the same. You could even have a concept of raising a target goal and the percentage raised is the percentage that gets cut 😁 Or even a fund Talley battle of for cutting short and against with the winning percentage. To cut or not to cut, that is the question ⁉️😂

Interesting how 2 of the 3 ladies were non kiwi and fearless 😜 And as you said you can shave one person and there's no reaction, on the other hand you give a bit of a trim and they freak out 😂. I think kiwi young women are mostly conservative with their long hair.
I think the final 2 cuts will most likely just grow it back out, but at least they went for it 😊 Great event 👍👏

Reasons why long hair is more common in New Zealand is it is an island in the South Pacific, and common in Māori and Polynesian cultures. With European descendants it’s common for a few reasons, haircuts are more expensive here, the training in shorter haircuts are a bit lacking, someone who has tried it may regret it and others are put off from seeing it. It is more common in Auckland or Wellington where it has more arts and culture, but if you were young and living in a region in New Zealand you local hairdresser would probably make you look like a 12 year old boy or an 80 year old woman, compared to haircuts in the city where hairdressers have more experience and can offer more
