Strip away the corrosive politics of both sides and it’s a cultural necessity and redolent of why we need to hang onto our tribalism - in mind not a dirty word - in a world of globalism and anti-national identity. Without a sense of belonging who are we? Muslims, Hindus and Sikhs where I live quite rightly have their days of celebration - so should the Red White and Blue & the Green White and Gold.
