The 2024 Olympic Basketball headlines have been focused on the Super team that Lebron James built for team USA. Comparing Lebron James to Nick Fury, he assembled his Avengers. The team is insane and packed with all the NBA superstar talent that you would expect. Due to the King James recruiting efforts, Team USA instantly became the favorites to win the gold medal in the upcoming 2024 Olympic games in Paris.
Meanwhile, South Sudan coaching staff Royal Ivey and Luol Deng were building an underdog Avenger Punisher squad. An electric team with the god of thunder himself, THOR. Eh Hem… I mean JT Thor, Marial Shayok, Carlik Jones, Wenyen Gabriel, and a soon to be Duke Blue Devil, Khaman Maluach. This team walked into a matchup against the United States squad on Saturday, as an overlooked underdog. USA coach Steve Kerr was the first to admit this game was overlooked and the team didn’t prepare for this matchup as much as they should have. (RAW CLIP) JT Thor put the team on his back with seconds left to steal the victory. Without a masterful Lebron James layup, the Sudanese team would have pulled off the major upset. But how was this possible? It was the first year South Sudan has been represented in the Olympic games. This squad has zero current NBA players. They represent a country that has had to absolutely fight for everything they are given and powered entirely by pride. Manute Bol was the leader that laid the foundation after his NBA career with training camps for refugees, among them Deng’s older brothers when Deng himself was just 5 yrs old in Egypt.
His brother took what he learned from Manute Bol and taught Deng and others in training camps to establish South Sudanese basketball diaspora talents as the attendees went on to play basketball in high schools and colleges worldwide.
Deng also ran training camps in UK, Australia and Africa during and after his NBA career before taking over the South Sudan national basketball federation and pulling a team together. The rest is history in the making!
Bol Bol’s inclusion in the current lineup (despite his present absence for personal reasons) is a fitting cap on the indisputable legacy his father began. He cannot forget this legacy and will honour it with his presence in the team.

Don’t make up things, manut just went to Egypt & was just playing with the kids showing them how to play for just that time, Luol Deng’s brother was one of them, but he wasn’t in any basketball camp. Luol Deng is the one who had the basketball camps my brother & cousins were a part of it. Manut was actually broke & stayed at his friend’s house some times because he didn’t have anywhere to stay. Stop trying to take Luol Deng’s credit & giving it to manut Bol.

They have 5 guys who played in the NBA, 1 currently in the NBA( Bol Bol) and Waynen Gabriel is a unrestricted free agent who isn't yet re-signed by a team, same for Thor. Bol unfortunately isn't playing, he would have helped them even more.
@Chillmindedpanther13 Yeah, lots of guys who have played in the NBA. Bol Bol chose not to play due to personal reasons unfortunately. JT Thor was on the Hornets last year but his contract expired in the off-season. My guess, he won't have a hard time finding a place in the league. Thanks so much for watching! :)

@migosi11 Thanks so much for watching! :) There's actually a tournament prior to this where the best team from Africa advances. There's some pretty good basketball playing countries in Africa, but South Sudan ranked the highest and was sent to Paris.
