Prior to having laser cataract removal I researched a few options, including having a vivity lens in my Dominant eye and PanOptix in the other. Watching your clip gave me confidence that this approach would work for me. I went ahead with it in Sydney-Australia. Today is 24 hrs post op 2nd eye, I got amazing results. Thank you for Sharing your findings Dr Rowen.

I have the Vivity lenses - my surgeon simply tweaked the one to be exceptionally good at close range (reading, fine print on meds, etc.) So, here I am - glasses free and no halos! I can drive at night completely trouble free and also read completely trouble free.

    How important is "contrast sensitivity"?

    Hello Dr. Sheri Rower.
I need to make my mind about wish lens to have.
I been suggested Blended vision as I do not tolerated well the mono vision. I have tried for 10 minutes and got a head aid fro 3 days. But I been using often a bifocal Biofinity multifocal on my right and none on my left on to see better for closer. not perfect but, ok for me as with the 2 eyes the Biofinity multifocal the near vision was not good.
    Recommended
1- Vivity on the dominant ( Left) eye for far and a Vivity 0.50 D on the right eye to get even better closer near vision.
    or
2-Vivity o the dominant ( Left) eye for far and the Panoptix on the right one to get even better closer near vision.
    ???
What will be the best combination to get the best range of view with minimal or no glasses.
Get the best image quality for far and Near and taking into consideration that.
I have sensitivity to light, I enjoy Skydiving and driving at night and I have astigmatism in bought eye but more on my right one.
I do not have any other eye problems.
Please, I really will appreciate any suggestions or comments from you that can help me make my mind!

      Hello Dr Sheri Rower.
Pleased to have come across Jav L comment and question. I too am in the exact situation. Two Vivity lens, or a Vivity and a PanOptix. This video seemed helpful
      ruclips.net/video/XyPRMgGXoZg/видео.html
While the PanoOprix may bring more near vision there may be more dysphotopsia (halos, etc) resulting in less 'blending' at night. It appears that with differing lens you would have a better chance at being spectacle free. I am leaning toward two Vivity lens at this point for 'quality of vision' knowing that I may need glasses. Heres another video ruclips.net/video/wRfr-mfroc4/видео.html its tough. All the best!

I got option 1. Right eye very dominant. Toric Vivity implanted. Excellent outcome for distance and computer but I was using readers for near. My Dr did second eye a week ago and I don't know if it was 0.5 but he was shooting to bring second eye in for near without compromising distance too much. Result: I have not worn readers since 4 days from surgery when second eye really came in for near. No visual disturbances at any time. Night driving is great too.

@@davidfwilliams1960 Hi. So what was used for your second eye, and are you experiencing reasonable long distance vision with it in addition to up close? Thanks.

what about the lower contrast of vivity compared to a monofocal, how serious a problem is that?

I'm hearing vivity doesn't suffer from that only the Panoptix. I'm getting vivity in early August

@@davidfwilliams1960 lm considering vivity in later this year also on the reccomendation of my surgeon but my concern is vivity comes with this warning on the vivity website
"Most patients implanted with the Vivity IOL are likely to experience significant loss of contrast sensitivity as compared to a monofocal IOL. Therefore, it is essential that prospective patients be fully informed of this risk before giving their consent for implantation of the Vivity IOL."

@@davidfwilliams1960 my surgeon said the vast majority of his patients were happy with vivity but one or two were not , but he said no matter what lens theres always one or two not happy. he said he thinks vivity is the best lens avaialble and would be the lens he would choose for himself if he had cataracts. l think vivity has lower contrast then a monofocal lens but l dont think its something that most people notice or bothers them. THe advantage of vivity is it gives you a good range of vision without glasses. anyway good luck with your surgey, l getting mine later this year, most likely l will go with vivity

      @davidfwilliams1960 2 года назад

@@johnschannel449 I'm expecting to need glasses for reading but I know people even with monofocal that rarely use for that so I'm hopeful. The table in that video I posted seems to show vivity is identical to monovision. Anyway as has been pointed out in other videos our vision and contrast is already degraded as we age anyway and there is no perfect lens. Good luck to you as well.
