Keep up the great work with all the details.
Hello User, Thank you so much, I will for sure. Please keep liking and watching!
Holy smokes! To a non-upholstery guy, this looks daunting to the extreme! But what a fabulous result! I am curious though….could you have replaced the damaged panels if the customer had requested, and still gotten good results?
Hello Shadows, Thank you for saying so. Remove and replace is the same amount of labor. New vinyl outlasts old brittle and weathered vinyl. Lastly I give the customer what they want. Please keep liking and watching!
Your work is incredible, I learn so much seeing your methods. Working out from the middle, best tip. 👍
Thanks for another great video.
Hello Don, You are so welcome as always! I love hearing good news like this. Now, working out from the middle is something I use all the time. Please keep liking and watching!

Damn, those staples! I felt your pain 😂
Hello Tim, staples equals patients. Please keep liking and watching!
How much does something like this cost??
Hello Ryan, Pricing will depend greatly on what the upholsterer wants to charge you. Also, based on how much you want to do, the design of the item and the type and cost of the materials selected. Thanks for watching!
But but I don't have jetskis O no ❤😂🎉😢😮😅😊
Hello Geoffrey, You should try it sometime, you might like it! Please keep liking and watching!
Boombastic !!
Hello Unfinished, I've been booming lately thanks to you! please keep liking and watching!
I've done upholstery since 91. My own shop since 2010. I have learned watching your videos. Beautiful work.
Hello Jackie, Thank you so much for saying so. We upholsterers need to stick together right? Please keep liking and watching!
As always, a joy to watch your videos, many thanks for posting, however I think you are confusing technique 71 with technique 42, it might make the fans somewhat upset!
Hello Cliff, well the number itself is not that important. Really the lower the number, the more important it is. Please keep liking and watching!
You explained how vinyl is directional, but when laying out, I never saw you look at the direction so that you got the pattern going the correct direction. Then--- why after stitching the white and black you always turned the piece over and stitched down the black side of the seam from the outside?
Hello Gin, I assure you that the grain of the vinyl was directional. You can see, that I showed it in the video. You are welcome to see it again. I always new the direction because it was so obvious. The end product was all the grains were all going the same direction. If they were going different directions, it would look very amateur. I was sure to do it the right way because I have had very happy customers for 44 years. The outside stitch on the black carbon vinyl is called a top stitch. Most common on motorcycle seats, jet ski seats, some automotive and marine application. I hope your questions are answered to your liking. please keep liking and watching!
I checked several upholstery video, only 3 guys explain so good and very well upholstery job. Thanks so much to teach your knowledge
I like so much your videos

Hello Jackie, like I always say, there is more than one way of getting things done. Please keep liking and watching!
Hi ,
I really appreciate your great work, especially your tking it on you to go through the complete process of your projects, not cutting corners.
About the seams in this video: wouldn´t it be necessary to seal them, since this seat goes in the water?
Greetings from Austria
Hello Diet in Austria, From the factory, the seams on all jet ski and boats, never have sealed seams. If the thread tension is correct, the seams are tight and waterproof. Please keep liking and watching!
@@oldschoolautoupholstery will do, for sure! I have another question for you concerning motorbike seat templates, shall I write here or under the bike seat video?
@@dietmarschobitz6100 Hello Diet, Maybe the bike seat video would be better as it could help other people. Thanks!
Hi!
I admire a lot your work always a neat and gorgeous.
You made my day with technic #82 at 38..48 minute.
Other technic I saw during top stitching you don't do reverse, instead you continue sewing outside on the seam allowance!! Brilliant👏.
I don't have nothing to do with uphostery, just an enthusiastic with a sewing machine for some hobby projects.
Just one question, you are offset from the machine and you make straight lines!!!
Congratulations👏
Hello Jorge, Thank you so much for all of your wonderful kind words. I really do appreciate it. Please keep liking and watching!

Hello Leo, You are so welcome! Thank you so much for saying so. Yep, keeping it all together takes away the mystery. Please keep liking and watching!
I love your channel. I have learned so much already. I saw in one of your comments that you use a 5/16 welting foot 90 percent of the time on your machine. Is that true?
Hello User, Thank you so much for saying so! I love hearing good news like this. Maybe I have to update that to 99% of the time. Please keep liking and watching!
I know you have stated that auto and marine vinyl is the same . What about thread? What brand and size do you use for marine?
@@TimLawson-u6t Hello User, I use T-92 bonded nylon or polyester thread for everything. The brand does not matter as much. There are UV threads available. I get my threads from an upholstery supplier. Please keep liking and watching!

@@oldschoolautoupholstery lol. It looks cool when you're zipping through the seams. But seriously, I've tried to teach people how to sew, and I can always tell when someone like yourself has a lot of years on the machine. You make it look easy.

I used those staple and they will rust in saltwater. I switched to monel staple made for marine applications.
The seat foam is also wrapped with a plastic bag. Without it, rhe foam will absorb water and weigh a ton and take for ever to dry out.
Hello Allen, I have always thought the opposite. Plastic traps water and the foam never dry's, and the wood rots. There is no air wicking through plastic. The plastic is an aid to install a seat cover. The vinyl itself keeps the water out as water does not pass through vinyl. Just sayin' Please keep liking and watching!
The plastic you saw was not a water barrier! It is a thin noiseless assembly plastic called "Slip Ease". Marine foam designed to let the water flow through it to dissipate and be captured and cause mold. Watch and learn before commenting.
You just cover the top to repel the water. Water still drains on the bottom. The seat weighs significantly more without the plastic after riding and takes a lot more time to dry out.
