    One of the few rock singers to hold up. John still sounds great and can still kill it on guitar

    From SongFacts:
    Many interpret this song as a Vietnam War protest. In reality, Fogerty was writing about the growing American fascination with guns.
    He said this about the song:
    I was talking about America and the proliferation of guns. I’m a hunter and I’m not anti-gun, but I just thought that people were so gun-happy - and there were so many guns that it really was dangerous.“

    The jungles of East Palesteen

  • @NorsePJ

    People keep thinking this song was about Vietnam but it wasn't. The jungle was about the urban jungle in America with the average person owning a gun.

      Is that why Fogerty himself has images of Vietnam on the screen behind him? Maybe he doesn’t understand the meaning of his own song.

    • @NorsePJ
      @NorsePJ 7 месяцев назад +3

      @@ricknorris1466 This is what John Fogerty himself said in regards to what the song was actually about "The thing I wanted to talk about was gun control and the proliferation of guns... I remember reading around that time that there was one gun for every man, woman and child in America, which I found staggering. So somewhere in the song, I think I said, '200 million guns are loaded.' Not that anyone else has the answer, but I did not have the answer to the question; I just had the question. I just thought it was disturbing that it was such a jungle for our citizens just to walk around in our own country at least having to be aware that there are so many private guns owned by some responsible and maybe many irresponsible people." So, the jungle wasn't about Vietnam but the urban jungle in America with the average person owning a gun.
      I think John Fogerty, being the composer of the song, clearly knows what the song is about. But people will keep on arguing about what the song is about. LOL!

    • @carolking6772
      @carolking6772 6 месяцев назад +1

      It must have been both. Always showed footage of Vietnam.

    • @NorsePJ
      @NorsePJ 6 месяцев назад

      @@carolking6772 No, it was about the urban jungle. Them showing footage of Vietnam had nothing to do with John Fogerty nor the meaning behind the lyrics. Fogerty should know, he wrote the song.

      Gee. Wonder why they show war in the background.
