    For me Renton dancing at the end instead of falling to the floor is a symbol of how he finally makes peace with his life, just as it is, instead of always wondering if there is something better or more intense elsewhere... that is what real freedom is about and to me, that's why the room ends up expanding forever... such a poetic ending.

    • @EminAnimE1
      @EminAnimE1 7 лет назад +52

      Yeah, and the song. The first time he hears the song in this movie he stops it right there. But now, he dances to it. The song is called lust for life, makes all the sense in the world. Amazing ending to an amazing sequel.

Although, I did find it real to me because of how Spud was outside, trying not to watch Mark and Sickboy do heroin. And that's not even the important part, because what bothers me is that after 20+ years, Mark should've technically OD'd from doing heroin, since he seems to have stayed clean forever until then.

    This is possibly the first attempt I've seen at revisiting a classic whether through sequel/reboot/remake/prequel that is actually about nostalgia. The movie doesn't just make lame attempts at fan service like in other recent movies from classic series (rogue one, jurassic world, terminator genisys). It actually has a point to make about nostalgia. Its about learning from the past while simultaneously embracing and letting go of it. Renton, sick boy, and spud are all able to do this which is why their lives improve on some level by the end of the movie while Begbie isn't resulting in him going back to jail. Best movie I've seen this year. Also my only 10/10 for the year

    I feel one of the underappreciated bits of symbolism is the dance at the end. Renton is back where he started physically, yes. He imitates the pose from Trainspotting with the long pull back. But with one major difference. In the past he fell to his knees. Now he picks back of and dances. He can experience these memories without being dragged down. Pretty decent (anti)hero's journey!

    Jesus fucking christ this film is right up there with the best sequels ever made in my opinion. I must admit I was apprehensive about the way it would be handled after so long since the original Trainspotting movie, and I was disappointed when I heard that it wasn't going to mirror the plot of Porno exactly because I'm a huge fan of Welsh's literary genius...... but....... after watching it I admit that it would never have worked had they have followed the plot of Porno exactly because the time difference between the books and the movies is too big and a recreation of the plot of Porno wouldn't accommodate that effectively. This was a script and movie of brilliance that I think people will appreciate more as the years go by. Just like the first one, the soundtrack is perfectly selected, I'd never heard of Wolf Alice before but this is the best tune of the entire movie in my opinion and compliments the emotion of that last scene perfectly. What direction now? I'd hate to see Welsh sell out and make movies just for the sake of making money but I'd love to see a third film that explores the complexity of these amazing characters further.

      And they couldn't have done Porno without doing Glue first ... which was a massive book. People would have been thinking, who the fuck's this Juice Terry character?

    • @Samuel_J_Russell
      @Samuel_J_Russell 10 месяцев назад

      @@davidemelia6296 Glue has nothing to do with the two Trainspotting films, except for the main characters featuring in it briefly? If they made Glue into a film it would always be a separate project. If they make another of Welsh's novels into a film it should definitely be Glue because this is one of his best novels and would make a great film in my opinion.
      Glue could be made into a film without having Renton, Begbie and Sick Boy in it because they only appear in the novel very briefly a few times, but there is a very funny chapter which involves Spud and should definitely be included if they ever make it into a film.

    I still wish some backwards version of Born Slippy was used at the end of the film. Could be a contrast to how Renton was leaving in the first film with Born Slippy forwards normally while in T2 he's staying at home.

    Chorei tanto ao final do filme. Fui a última a sair do cinema, não conseguia me levantar. Eu queria ficar ali quieta chorando. Foi um misto de dor e redenção. Final incrivelmente poético. Danny Boyle é Deus!
